The Elms is one of the famous Newport "cottages" built at the beginning of the 20th century by the rich and famous monied U.S. families.
Music -
1. "English Country Garden" by Aaron Kenny from the You Tube Audio Library
2. "Newborn" a jingle from the You Tube Audio Library
So beautiful. Step back in time. 😊
Thank you so much for this wonderful tour of The Elms. I grew up in NE and visited the Mansions several times; I've always favored The Elms. I moved across the country 15 years ago and, due to health issues, rarely travel now. I know I'll never enjoy the mansions in person again so your time and effort in making and sharing this video is so very appreciated. (nice choice of music, btw) :)
Thank you for you encouraging response. I have done a number of videos on touring the Newport mansions and still have a number to release. This is one on Marble House which I have uploaded to You Tube but not released to the public. The link is: ua-cam.com/video/wh2IAfyvoYs/v-deo.html if you would like an early look at it.
Our summer cottage on Lake Michigan did not have indoor plumbing thru 60s and 70s.
But man we had a blast!!!
I bet they never ran indoors soaking wet to announce they finally got up on one ski.
LOVED seeing the linen closet....
Very nice video. Only thing is trying to reason him spending the money on this house when his miners were poor, overworked, and in debt to his company store. Sad the way they spent money and never thought twice about their employees.
This place is causing my Arthritis to flare up just thinking about living here 🚶 walking all over this house but it's so beautiful.

"Naked I came into this world and naked I shall depart" Even If I owned a "Cottage in Newport.
Fun to be naked in between, too.
its about the journey!
Umiangable..the splender..to.own such a home..very impressive
Wow this one was a very high quality in visuals 🙌🏽 I really appreciate this helped me a lot🙌🏽
Glad you enjoyed.🥰Loved your comment.
"The Painting, in the Ballroom", 1:56 wish I had a more fluid visual, but it is Stunning, Classy, and she appears most elegant. Superior to any I ever seven.
It is such a worthy piece.
...but I'm an oil on canvas Artist.
It's a hell of a house... have seen it a number of times. The builders' disconnect, notwithstanding.. it really is a showcase of history and craftsmanship. This was a good presentation.

Your comments are appreciated as you see the structure for what it is and don’t get hung up on how the original owner made his wealth as many do. It is as you say “a showcase of history and craftsmanship”.
Many thanks for your observations.
Que hermoso todo..
Even though it is breathtakingly beautiful. I get a sinking feeling in my stomach. I think about all the poor people who were robbed of their wages and lives, so people could live like this.
Yes. Sad but true.
I do wonder how servants were treated, idk, even if I had a ton of money, I think 2500 sq. ft is plenty of living space?
Amazing video! Thanks for sharing it!
cpiacenza You’re very welcome. Glad you enjoyed.
I remember going through this when I was in college with my dad. He liked the house but was kindof grim. When I asked him about it, he mentioned that my grandfather, who was a coal miner, had worked for Mr. Berwind.

WOW that is interesting. Thanks for the comment.
The music was too loud, I missed some of the things you were talking about.
Thanks for your opinion. Sorry about the music.
Pierre Repooc Productions loved the music and found it fitting for the video.
I thought that the volume and choice of the music was fine, but it should have been lowered when he was talking, then brought back up to normal volume. This takes more work, but would make a big difference. Otherwise, a very nice video.
TASTE AND MONEY , grandes mansiones qe reflejan el.poder económico del Gran País qe es EEUU.
The music is too loud, can't hear the comments.
I hear ya. Unfortunately, I used the phones mic, rather than an external mic. The talking was picked up too softly and even without music it is hard to hear. Thanks for the comment though.
The noise from the fans !!!!!
Hey, you weren’t there on that 100 degree day I was doing the filming. The noise from those fans was music to my ears. 😜🤪😄😂
@@PierreRepooc It's weird, but when I took the backstairs tours and got up to the servants' rooms on a brutally hot day, the curtains were literally on the ceiling from the stiff breezes coming in. Much cooler than the main bedrooms!
Looks like the bedrooms are also storage. It would be strange to have all of the seating that they have. Not even able to walk around the room.
I thought all the seating in the bedrooms was very strange too. Who sat in all those chairs? Weren't there sitting rooms nearby to informally visit with family or close friends? Did they have to be in the actual bedrooms?
Hardly a beach cottage.
Nice video music too loud couldn’t hear you talking.
Yes, agree. Short of redoing it, I can’t easily correct it though. Thanks for watching. My videos on the other mansions are much better synced voice to music.
Pierre
Lots of fans, no AC?
That’s correct and was it ever warm that day.
still believe in trickle down economics ?
Coal magnate not coal magnet 🙈

Beautiful house but I have to consider the overworked and underpaid staff who were really responsible for helping keep the American aristocracy maintain their extremely extravagant lifestyle
Αριστούργημα αρχιτεκτονικής κ διακόσμησης Ένα μικρό αριστούργημα όμως είναι κ το βίντεο Μπράβο στον δημιουργό του
Thank you very much.
My family's home and I have not seen it.
In my dreams, it’s my home too. But I didn’t know we are related.🤪 Loved your comment.
Somebody should tell the maintenance personnel about vintage style fans being available.
I love The Elms the best. Very French!!!! Gorgeous!!
I heard your comment that Mr Berwind's bedroom was much smaller than his wife's. This is true for most of these "cottages" since the wives stayed in Newport for the summer while their husbands worked and stayed in the city only coming up for the weekends.
I am disappointed that you did not video the magnificent inlaid marble table in the upper hall: it was put in before the roof was completed and was to be destroyed (too heavy to move) when the house was slated for demolition before being saved to become a museum.
Note on building the "cottage" - the stonecutters got the highest pay at $2.00 per day!
Thanks for the added information very interesting. I was not aware of the table should have filmed it
NICE I WENT TO ONE OF THE MANSIONS IN NEWPORT TODAY
The music is louder than the man speaking.
Yes, I know this happened in spots. When I get some time I'll do a voice over to correct this.
But as always these corrections take time and extra effort.
Thanks for the comment.
