Thank you "M" family - I visited Rosecliffe in 1978 when I was 10yrs old. The Mansion had Docents or "tour guides" then. I have always LOVED this home and haven't been able to travel there again but, REALLY appreciate your video to see the details again. Back then the ballroom had red velvet draperies and has always been the largest in Newport with 39' x 79'. My time there inspired me to become a volunteer in an old house museum when I was in college in SE Texas. Look up the Mammie McFaddin-Ward House if you are curious. Thank you again.....truly a step back in time for me..... :)

How did they create the neo- classical sculptured effects? Did they use plaster, paper- mache', or perhaps a combination of the two? Did your audio guides you had explain this ?
    Thanks for posting this video!

I don't recall if the audio mentioned how the effects were actually created. Sorry

Nicely done. The kids were prolly bored and that's to be expected but maybe they'll have a chance to visit again in a decade or two or three. Rosecliff and all the Newport mansions are stunning no matter how many times you visit. Combine them with the area's dining options - everything from luxe cuisine to awesome diners and bars - and Newport is a fantastic travel destination. Hotels are kinda pricey tho.

My boys had a nice time. We had a great lunch afterwards in town.

The homes constructed during the Glided Age were truly stunning, weren't they? Very opulent.

There shouldn't be an apostrophe in "Muscarellas." It is plural, not possessive.
