For sure she did it. Money talks and if that police chief retired 5 months later, yeah, he was paid off. Now a days she wouldn't have gotten away so easy. I visited the mansion and estate and conservatory throughout my child hood. It's now open to the public.
Thanks for going to these historic locations. And you're right - we can read about these cases ourselves, and often quicker than a video can be watched. However we cannot tour these locations, and that is what's so awesome about your channel.
I like how he predicted that possibly and got there quick because was ready to turn North towards Bastogne before even being asked about it. Smart guy.
I remember this way back on the news. 🙂 I think I just gave away my age there a bit. 😅 Didn't know the property was open to the public though. Gorgeous landscape and awesome little house. 😏
Good to see you back, Chris! You've been missed. I recall Ms. Duke, but not this story. It could well be another case of "money talks". Thanks for your information and videos!
She was the most excellent woman I had ever met. She and I hit it off when I was a young 17-year-old girl. Ms. Duke always called my mom and asked if she'd mind if she could see me. My mom loved her so much, and they even spoke about humanitarian aid. Ms. Duke helped my mom, who devoted her life to humanitarian aid worldwide. My grandfather made pearls for her, one of a kind. It was shocking when she asked my mother about a set of pearls she was wearing. That's when we learned of that, as my grandfather was the man who made one-of-a-kind design jewelry introducing pearls to the Japanese and making so many different styles for many. He also was the one if you're wearing an Eternity band made the first in the world. I'm thrilled I have the first he made. Ms. Duke became an essential part of my life, and confident decisions, I'd ask her advice. It breaks my heart what the state of New Jersey has been endlessly doing to her estate, the grounds that she loved so dearly, the fantastic trees she had flown in from Africa and planted so perfectly. I'll often go quietly and sit and remember those beautiful moments of having the pleasure of knowing the real woman behind certain people's beliefs. There are so many things people aren't aware of that she deserves credit for, and the state has some nerve-damaging what could have been a fantastic historical history lesson and more. I miss her dearly. Was she close to her family? I'll never speak regarding that. She lived very down-to-earth often; she'd even randomly leave her house and enjoy the people who came to visit her beautiful greenhouses. I remember the first time I saw her do it and the faces of shock and amazement on people's faces. She wasn't what people assumed she was in any sense or did she care much for having to be privately protected 247. I remember a real woman human being. Money is nice, but there are many things it can't buy; it can't bring joy and happiness. She often said sure thing's like that to me. I am grateful for certain parts of the 80s, and when she suddenly passed away, I was on the road. I also thank her for the advice she gave me on that one. She'd always wear wonderfully dressed, always Ms. Duke looked even in her long flowing dresses she'd wear relaxing, and her lovely sportswear. She brought me my frist amazing Ralph Lauren sweater. I cherish every moment, good or sad, when around her. He drudged her to the point of being ill and he had her leave him everything of course he killed her!

You always peak my interest. Read a book about Doris years ago & of course all the articles in Vanity Fair but hadn't thought of this case in years. Enjoy Newport it suits you 🌞
I grew up in Durham, NC where the Dukes lived and started the America Tobacco Company. I know many people that worked there. They also started Duke University and Duke Energy (the local electrical company)
Your videos are never lacking and are always tremendously rich in information and great scenes. Anyone who doesn't like your videos can go watch Adam The Woo videos instead. Interestingly, Doris Duke also had a very elaborate property called Falcon's Lair located in Los Angeles. This property is a short distance away from the location of the Sharon Tate murders. Thank you so much for another fabulous video. Stay safe and be well.
The Newport Restoration Foundation founded by Doris Duke after her horrendous car accident. Duke had been fighting with him all night long in Christie’s restaurant. Back in the early 1980s a very alert and intelligent neighbor of mine in Newport told me what she witnessed inside the restaurant that evening between the two of them making such a scene.and then the crash that evening. The young paper boy, who was a witnesses finally came out, and openly, shared what he saw, while delivering the newspapers. His father warned him never to speak a word of this, because Doris Duke had very dangerous friends.
Thank you. That was so interesting! I love how you lined up two pictures and filmed where Eduardo was buried. I always enjoy your videos. Your hard work is appreciated.😉🌹
That Dodge station wagon, my neighbors had one exactly like it in a pea green color and was brand new. Never heard of this story, very interesting and had to look it up,
When you mentioned mansion, Newport,RI, mystery, I thought you were going to show The Breakers. The Vanderbilt summer home mansion. This one is beautiful as well.
Don't worry about others thinking you don't give enough information during your videos. I, like many others come here for your fascinating stories, not to solve a crime. Your videos are short and to the point, and you always show respect to the victims. I enjoy them.
Thank you for this and all your other videos. I like the way you talk, you are very east to understand. I never thought I would see things you show. I can see the world through your eyes.
I listened to a podcast a few months ago that went pretty in depth into this case. I'm pretty convinced she did it on purpose and the local police helped cover the crime up. Probably just kept sitting there stewing in her feeling of abandonment and then snapped. "If I can't have you, nobody will!" Nice to fit some video and images of the place it happened in my mind now!
New to your channel, just discovered it today. Thanks for doing this. I love seeing the actual locations of all these events. Great exposition and discussion, Chris! I knew the name “Doris Duke” from posthumous (presumably) contributions to PBS programs (“ … with generous support from the Doris Duke Charitable Trust”), but didn’t know the story behind the name. This gorgeous mansion - at first glance, I thought this might’ve been the “Dark Shadows” house (which is also in that neck of the woods)! You do a wonderful and respectful job of covering these historically-tragic locations; I first ran into you from your discussion of the Camp Scott Murders near Locust Grove, Oklahoma (that one, I *do* know a lot about, since I was at Camp Garland at the time, and am originally from Tulsa). Keep up the great (if somewhat macabre) work!
They knew each other for 10 years. Apparently him leaving did not sit with her very well. A heated argument, yet wanted him drive her to a meeting.. He would no longer be around to assist her. I'm thinking when sliding over to the driver side, rage was still with her..
Doris Duke's father, James Buchanan "Buck" Duke, was my father's great-uncle. He was also the benefactor of Duke University. However, I think we can all agree that both his and Doris Duke's many philanthropic ventures don't make-up for the harmful legacy that his tobacco profiteering has left to the world. I watched my father struggle with his nicotine addiction until his death in 1999. We never met this side of our family, nor had any desire to. But I find it extremely ironic that Buck Duke didn't think to leave one penny upon his death to my father, his great-nephew, who no doubt contributed greatly to his wealth during his lifetime. Not that my father would have accepted it anyway. As far as we were concerned, it was all ill-gotten gains. I'm very much a capitalist, but am convinced that human beings just are not meant to amass THAT much wealth in one family. It does a great deal of harm to one's mental health and well-being. In more cases than not, they live extremely bizarre, unhappy lives. They try to throw money at anything and everything. _Perhaps they're trying to assuage their guilt for having so much while so many have so little..._
I agree with you, I have been in the presence of wealthy families on a regular basis and have amazed at their distorted grips on reality. They truly are in a different world.
It is extremely rare for people to leave their money to relatives outside their immediate family, particularly when the relationship is a generation away from the deceased and the age gap is large, as was the case between your father to his great-uncle, James Duke, who died in 1925. I was told this by my late aunt's attorneys when we were discussing her will, which contained bequests that spanned three generations. They are a large law firm and they stated it was the second such will they had seen in their 75-year history.
Be careful what you wish for, I inhabit the former home of a notorious criminal and the judge who took possession of it by a judicial writ. They’re both still here many decades later…

That is a beautiful estate. I always learn something from your channel. Thank you Chris. 💯
Matthew Broderick ran over a man in Ireland while drunk and it somehow became an accident.
Big difference between drunk driving and an accident
Matthew killed 2 women in Ireland, not a man.
So did Bruce Jenner who now goes by Caitlin.
Pull it up google Matthew was not drunk that is why he was only charged with reckless driving 🤷♀️
