It is so important to ask if the school will be teaching the skills that you wanting to learn the most. b Ask as many questions during the tour as you need to! I wish you would have asked them about their eyelash curriculum. Thanks for pointing it out though so we can all take notes and remind ourselves to ask the school questions.
I am excited to be doing this program! I gave been wanting to get into the beauty industry. I also want to do lash extensions. I look forward to helping women especially my black queens
Hello, this is random but I noticed there are not many guys in this line of work. I am a total beginner in this field but I am very interested in "breaking the mold" for the average guy in this line of work. Am I going to have a very hard time as I honestly know nothing about this path except what I have watched on UA-cam. My goal in this is to be able to learn more about skin and how to take care of it mainly and do things professionally for my wife, daughter, family, etc. I do not plan to go into this work full time but more word of mouth/family/friends and my schooling thankfully is covered. Thanks for your video
Thanks for sharing your opinions about Esthetician school. I researched that the lash portion is part of the advanced training program at Aveda. I have a school tour at Aveda In Florida next week.
I just got my Master Educator from Empire in Elizabethtown, KY ! I’m not teaching PreSalon PM - thus looking for videos for my students we are in Skin Care, I’m excited to share this video for those that may wanna focus or look more into shin care services or become an Esthetician
I want to go as well. Kam recommend them, he went to Gould's. I have to find out how to fit it in my work schedule. I really want to be an esthetician.
Is becoming licensed worth it financially in the long run? I’m looking into getting licensed but the salaries seem so low unless you start your own business. Please give me your honest opinion.
I personally think it is. If you have a passion for the industry, you’ll make it financially worth it.... I’ve worked for two spas- and ended up quitting because I was making more money taking lash clients on my own. Establish a good clientele, and the $$$ will follow.
This is helping me decide between going to my local college vs. a specialized beauty school. I am enrolled to start in Spring at my college, the program is only 220 hours though so I dont think they offer all of the skills that I want to learn. I will probably have to go to a private school and pay more out of pocket but I think it may be worth it
Hiii, I just started studying an online Estheticians dermatology skin care course 🌸 Also a soon to be mum , was wondering how flexible this career pathway is , whether it allows you to also have family time . ALSO can you become an Esthetician without going to uni , but studying an online course ? 💖
I Stay in Michigan I picked Dorsey School Which Offer Trade Skills . They Are Accredited. There Are Smaller Schools That Only Focused Esthetics But Didn’t Offer Everything Such As Lash Extension. Depending On Your State You Can Achieve A License W/O Uni
Hey! So I’m considering schools to go to and I was just wondering do you advise that I go to like a big name brand beauty school like aveda... or do you think it’s just as acceptable to attend a tech college program.? I know you did a tech college but would you have preferred a bigger name brand beauty school?
Hey, I apologize for the late response. But I am content with where I went. Bigger schools like Aveda cost more, sometimes required more hours and the rules are VERY strict. I wanted to take an easier route. The real work starts after school anyways, so I wouldn’t stress about getting your moneys worth. Does that make sense? Hope that helped 😊
everybody has a right to pick what they want personally I love that this young lady said what I feel from day one Aveda Paul Mitchell are not great as they used to be they charge an awful lot of money. 👎🏼🤦🏻♀️😵😲‼️💯 And so since it's been a pandemic at first. It was said that student loans would be forgiven to $10,000 for one up to a Max of 2 years which would have been good 😇‼️💯🎉🎊🤗📽️📺👀🧐🤔but the reality June 1st 2021 that's not happening at least not until maybe September when Congress goes back over this again.bottom line if you can go to a school that is licensed in your city or state.and you are able to pay anywhere from $3,000 to $8,000 jump on it if you're at $10,000 no problem anything over 10,000 for aesthetics is too high you might as well go for cosmetology and learn the hair skin and nails.my greatest advice as a licensed manicures 30 years is to be dual license that's when you make your real money because you can do more than one skill at a time. 😎🙋🏻♀️🤷🏼♀️🎉💯🧖🏻♀️💇🏻♀️
Would you recommend obtaining a 4 year degree even though it’s not required to become an esthetician? If so, what would be an ideal major to be successful?
I saw an ad for Hand & Stone & they only wanted to pay 13 or 14 an hour, I think that is terrible, After people have had Soo much for their education . That is sad that they would only pay that much. I Hope You All Get Higher Paying Jobs. 🕊️🙏🌈
Crazy right?! Believe it or not, that’s what most spas are paying estheticians. I quit my job at a local spa, just to lash and I’m making way more money.
Aveda is just way to expensive and they don't even include much into the program. I was looking for community college's offering the program, but none was near in the area in Florida I live. Aveda also asks for so much like you have to write a whole essay and get a letter of recommendation like if your going to Columbia University. Aveda does not include lash extensions you need to pay it separately and take the classes somewhere else. To me Aveda is to expensive for no reason.
I went to Empire too! they lied to me lmaoooo they only had cosmetology in my area, but told me it was divided equally into 3 parts hair skin and nails. we did 6 weeks of skincare out of 18 months 😂 but as a licensed cosmetologist I can do lashes so Im good but eventually want to offer more services and may have to go back.
Thank you for this video, I’m planning on going to school and was just wondering if there is anywhere I can find curriculum before I go to prepare myself?
Okay, so basically if I heard right, you didn’t get any money from empire because you already in college? Because currently I’m enrolled in Indiana University Bloomington.
Hello Queen, I live in Nashville too. I’m a lash stylist plus a freelance makeup artist. I’m starting to learn how to wax at home in do facials. I’m starting school next year but I need money now . My question is What books can I buy to learn about the skin? Do you mind if I email you?
Hey love! Always nice to see another lash artist do her thing... As far as what books to buy to practice esthetics, I’m not sure. The only ones I have are from school- and I really urge you to wait, and not practice facials and waxing until you are licensed to. If something were to go wrong, you could be in the position to be sued.
@Luv girl yes! I’m going through the same problem I’m in college but want to go to beauty school at the same time. The $600 a month she said killed me ugh
The college where I live offers the program but the hours offered are 260. Is that not enough? The other schools are about 1 1/2 away from where I live. My area of interest is skin care.
Sounds like maybe your state only requires 260 hours? Nothing wrong with that. Sounds like Florida and they have amazing esthetician’s there. Just because the hours aren’t as high as other states does not make it any less. Georgia and California have the highest at 1000. PA and FL have the lowest.

Make up is for Cosmetologist usually, esthetician is for skin care
So sorry you couldn't get a grant & no one to help. 💗 You did Great ! Cudos to you ! God Bless You 🙏

I totally agree about the science of it all, But I am currently breaking my neck to get my written exam done with a passing grade. Great video.
I feel your pain. The science is what got me. I'm definitely a hands-on kinda girl ☺️
I ended up taking a lash course right after I graduated in 2019....I shoulda went to JeanMadeline for sure.

dermatology
If anything get an accounting degree or business degree. But you don’t need it to be successful.

Sooo I haven’t made any $ from UA-cam yet- you have to have so many watch hours and subscribers in order to get paid.

Are there any rules and regulations for working out of your home as a Licensed Esthetician?
Yes, but it’s possible.
Super love your title card things
AVeda does in San Antonio
Great tips!
Khadijah G thanks!
Very informative !!
Thank you for this video, I’m planning on going to school and was just wondering if there is anywhere I can find curriculum before I go to prepare myself?
No, you'll learn everything you need to know there. Good luck!
Are you working somewhere that you like yet ?
I currently work for myself. I have an at home studio where I perform lashes, waxing and facial services.
How is that going for you? Is the income good? Steady clients?
I am looking into becoming an esthetician in ...I was wondering how much your tuition cost was overall? and was it worth it?
Beautiful ! Do you have your own shop now ?
Where did you go to gain your certificate in lash extensions
Can you become an esthetician online or in person?
hi, are you going to analyze jada's facial routine. everyone is talking about it.
I will do some research and get back to you ☺️
How long did you need to be in school for? Like how many years/months
Lashes are definitely hard af!!!!!
How long did it take you to finish?
Okay, so basically if I heard right, you didn’t get any money from empire because you already in college? Because currently I’m enrolled in Indiana University Bloomington.
Correct. I completed a 4 year degree, therefore there were no grants or extra money left for me to use towards a loan for beauty school.
Have you heard about genesis career college ?

How have things been since the pandemic? You have beautiful skin btw🤩
Business is actually better than is was before the pandemic, it's been great ☺️ Thank you!
what school did you go to ??
Hello from louisville kentucky!
Dang! Ofra is expensive (at least their highlighters are) lol
Registered nurses can make their own product lines six month esthetucans are not allowed too
Hi, I was wondering do you think that doing beauty school and college at the same time is reasonable ?
I would not advise it. There’s just not enough time in the day to do both. You have to be in beauty school, Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm.
@@ilovepink0703 thank you !

wish there was an easier way to know what schools will teach more about lash extensions 😭😓
Take a one on one course with an actual lash technician ! but you will have to get your license somewhere else :)
What state did u go to school for esthetician?
How long is esthetician course to get a certificate
Is it easy or difficult course?????
Ofra is good!
so pretty : )
Thank you 🥰
Georgia Career Institute was not all that great
Wow the make up & lash part isn't good at all ! Shame on them ! For all that money ! ! !
For real though! I was very disappointed.
Makeup brand sucks 🤣🙂🙂
But really though 😅
