    UPDATE: After hearing your guys' comments, I’m 100% sure that the auto adjust mirrors in this Ridgeline are defective. It's a rental with 45k miles after all. It’s seen some abuse. 😂 It stays in the same position after pulling away even if the switch has remained in the center position. Sorry for any confusion. 😂

    This is why Chevy owners shouldn’t drive Hondas!!!!! This is a mid size truck. You can’t compare a Chevy 1500 to this. This Honda will run circles and out last any Chevy. It might not out tow or haul but that is not what this truck was made for. Stay in your lane Chevy guy.

    • @CEALLIFORNIA
      @CEALLIFORNIA  Рік тому +5

      I do understand that the Ridgeline is a class below the Silverado, hence why I stated it around 4:21.
      However you can’t get away from the fact that Chevy, Ford, heck even RAM have better infotainment than this Honda does. The infotainment needs a serious update. Even Nissan has better infotainment in the Frontier!
      Also the Nissan Frontier (same class by the way) has a better shifter and a place to rest both arms while driving.
      I agree with you 100%, this Honda will definitely outlast any Chevy.
      I never said the Honda couldn’t tow or haul and never compared the statistics to a 1500.
      I get where you’re coming from Logan, the Honda is a solid truck, it really is, and I’m not 100% hating on it. There were some thing I enjoyed. I’m just stating what I noticed as a non-Ridgeline owner after a week, and I appreciate you watching my video.

      My 2003 Acura TL did the same thing. Personally, I liked that it moved the passenger side mirror down when backing up. It made seeing the parking stripes much easier. As soon as I put it in park or dive, the mirror adjusted back to where I set it. There isn't any further tinkering needed. I'm not sure how he's struggling so much with that feature in the Ridgeline.

    Had 2020 Ridgeline for 3 year got it traded couple weeks ago for a Frontier. While I do enjoy the Ridgeline for the past few years as a chore vehicle it was never a real pickup truck to me. Besides some of the small things that was mentioned in the video I gotta say for me my major gripe would be the GEAR SELECTOR I never got use to it. Maybe it’s just me but I think a pickup truck should be paired with the old school shifter.

    • @CEALLIFORNIA
      @CEALLIFORNIA  Рік тому

      Thank you for watching Alex! I agree I could not get a handle on this shifter, I much prefer the traditional shifter in the Frontier and the Frontier has more of that traditional truck feel since it’s not unibody construction. Thanks again for watching!

      PLEASE TELL ME! Do you like the Frontier more? Did you get the 5' or 6' bed? I'm in decision stage right now. I'm kind of worried about resale value of SV long bed. Having driven both, which drives better? Thanks!

    • @CEALLIFORNIA
      @CEALLIFORNIA  Рік тому +1

      @sharkskin3448 I did review the Frontier a few weeks back and between both of these trucks, even though the Frontier was not as zippy or as light on its feet as the Ridgeline was, it handled more like a truck and more of what I was expecting from a truck and I like the more traditional shifter knob in the frontier and all the places that it had to set things when getting inside. And depending on what configuration you get the towing capacity is about 1500lbs more than the Ridgeline at around 6500lbs or so. Also the radio in the Nissan and all the controls in the Nissan are MUCH easier to understand and use. The model I drove had a 6 foot bed. Although to preserve as much resale as possible in the Frontier I would opt for a crew cab instead of the King Cab. All in all, as cool and different the Ridgeline is, I had more fun in the driver seat of the Frontier. You won’t regret either way you go, but me personally, I’m going frontier. Has the traditional truck feel!

    I have a '21 and for me there are two really annoying things that are just dumb design choices. First, the bed lights go off when the tailgate is down in the standard position. You know, when you would be using it the most. Instead you have to hit the button in the cab to turn them on and of course they are auto off. Second, the fact it slams into park if you open the door while moving slowly. As an ex mechanic I cannot tell you how many times we rolled around at slow speed listening for noises or lining up on a lift. It annoys the crap out of me. The only other thing I think is an issue is the front radar has issues with cresting hills that fall away off camber. the brake warning flashes and I'm always expecting it to slam on the brakes. Other than that, its a great truck for 90% of people who need to occasionally move things or pickup larger items.

    • @CEALLIFORNIA
      @CEALLIFORNIA  Рік тому +1

      I didn't know that about the bed lights, that is annoying. And that whole park thing is annoying. I can't tell you the amount of times we've been at that boat launch and had to inch forward or backward to get the boat on just right and if I had to deal with that, it would drive me insane. The radar drives me crazy too. I think I was passing a car in the opposite lane and it was telling me BRAKE like we were about to collide but were nowhere near one another. This is a perfect truck overall, would probably suit most of my needs to be honest.

  • @TrilithiumBanditKelsey

    Weak transmissions... early transmission failure in the 6AT is common, I doubt the 9AT will fare better. Expensive, routine transmission maintenance... and the V6 probably still uses a timing belt.
    It has some great features to be certain, but in a pickup, reliability is tantamount.

    • @CEALLIFORNIA
      @CEALLIFORNIA  Рік тому +2

      I didn't know that these had weak transmissions before. There were some cool things about this truck and it definitely has it's own cool vibe, but I think I would still buy the Nissan Frontier over this, even if it wouldn't be far more reliable than the Ridgeline. Thank you for watching!

    I’m seeing this video a bit late but wanted to make a few comments after test driving a 2024 RL Trailsport:
    1. The infotainment system is quite snappy although I wish it were a bit more upright. Seems like it was much improved for 2024. I liked the semi-digital cluster as well.
    2. I’m 6.5 and found the RL very comfy and roomy for me. I had been in a 2024 tacoma the day before and it felt like a coffin in comparison (although I liked the layout and build quality). So I don’t understand the review's description at all. Yer a shorty compared to me. Could just be torso length to leg length ratio or something.
    3. I don’t understand the hate on the shifter buttons - they just work and they are out of the way. Personal preference I suppose.
    4. The handling isn’t sports car like but seemed more than adequate. The description of the handling in the video seemed at odds to what I experienced. I guess that’s why one needs to test drive anything they are considering buying rather than depending solely on a UA-cam review. Actually, the RL did feel sport car like compared to a Silverado I recently test drove.
    5. The shallow bed bugs me a little but wouldn’t be a deal breaker especially given the extra space in the bed trunk and the cool fold up seats. The bed is longer than most mid-size beds. For example I like the Nissan Frontier quite a lot, but it’s bed seems tiny even if deep.
    6. It’s pricey, what isn’t these days, but a lot of features are included at its price point compared to other mid-sizes, especially the 2024 tacoma-yikes. The Nissan pro-4x strikes a nice balance of feathers as well.
    Yeah, I'm struggling to relate to this review after my test drive experience. Maybe if I lived with it for a week I’d learn to hate it but I don’t think so.

    • @CEALLIFORNIA
      @CEALLIFORNIA  11 місяців тому

      Thank you for watching! Yeah I’m more leg than I am torso, so leg space is always an issue. A rare find for me to find vehicles with good leg space, the RAV4 I test drove recently had great leg space, better than the Ridgeline. The 2024 I have heard, has a much better radio system than the 2022 model here that I test drove. For me there is WAY too much body roll in the corners, disconcerting really, compared to the Nissan Frontier that felt much flatter in the corners. Thank you again for watching!

    This kind of comparison is not all that helpful. Many of the deficiencies being noted are personal preferences or shortcomings that every mid size truck would have in comparison to a full size pick-up costing $15,000-$30,000 more. I appreciate you watching and for your agreement with the pros. But I just wanted to reiterate that this is not a comparison video. The Silverado was just the first vehicle that came to mind when comparing certain things to this as it’s currently my daily driver and they’re obviously in two separate classes. I am simply stating what I have noticed in the Ridgeline after 1 week. This video is not meant to directly compare the Ridgeline to my Silverado. The Silverado is just the first vehicle to come to mind as it's been my vehicle for the last 3 years. But I am not directly comparing the Ridgeline to the Silverado because they are in two different classes. Thank you for watching I'm sorry for any confusion!

      @@CEALLIFORNIA hope you don’t have to trade or sell your Silverado now that it’s been listed as been in an accident😁

      @rickzangora4340 I’m already halfway through the process of getting diminished value with Geico. I wasn’t going to let my equity go that easy. 😂

    after a week you're not even used to a car/truck so this "review" is largely bogus

      By the end of my rental period, I had this truck for about a month. Everything I said in the review was still true at the end of the month and there were more things I found that started to annoy me as well. Everyone has their cup of tea, this truck just wasn’t mine. Thank you for watching!

    I'm 6'4", and my Ridgeline is the most comfortable vehicle I've ever been in. GM makes crap trucks wait for that Mexico made POS rear-end differential breaks at 100k.

      I do wish that the craftsmanship on my Silverado was better in general.

      Not an SUV. Not a truck. It's a pickup.
