I agree. The naturally aspirated V6, built in bedliner, the deep trunk, the ability to haul 4 X 8 sheets of plywood and drywall flat in the bed, the swing out tailgate, the smooth ride, comfortable wide interior and Hondas reliability and build quality especially on the Vtech V6 are the main reasons I like the Ridgeline the best. I owned 2 Rams , one F150 and 2 Bronocs and I like the Ridgeline the best. Also the Ridgeline has the distinction of being the most American-made pickup truck.

@@tidestacker4674 Nice. I also like how mine fits in a 2 car garage a lot better than my full size trucks did. I live in the hot Arizona desert and the sun and 110+ degree days drys out the rubber, fades the paint and cracks leather seats much faster than other areas ive lived in so being able to park it in the garage in the summer is important to me.

@@LancelotLink1 Oh I totally agree. I always had to back my silverado into my garage and it barely cleared the sides of the doors. I had to be super careful. This truck fits in my garage perfectly.

Great review. I researched all mid-sized trucks and ended up with a 2023 RTL and I never even considered a Honda before. Now with a year of ownership I have no regrets. Every time I drive my Ridgeline I appreciate this truck's AWD, cargo capacity, ride comfort, handling, V6 power, and I'm averaging 22 -24MPG.

i have 2013 with 130,000 miles. Other than brakes, tires, fluid changes - and of course, the timing belt replacement at 90k - it's never had to go in the shop. What's most amazing to me is that it still rides the same as when it was new. Everything is solid and tight. No rattles, squeaks or engine noises. Rides smooooth as a baby's bottom.

I ordered the black grill piece to replace the chrome on my front end... and I changed out the chrome badging on the tailgate to black. I now have mostly the look I was hoping for in the upper trim levels. You definitely get a pretty well equipped vehicle in the RTL.. definitely the most bang for buck value compared to the upper trims.

My old Silverado used to average around 19 mpgs on that same trip. The real savings for me is daily driving. My silverado only got around 14mpgs city.. and I'm not getting around 19mpgs. I made the same choice in 2020. I went from a Ford 150 to my Ridgeline and am very pleased. I would add two insights. First, it does take a while to get used to sitting much lower to the ground, however the Ridgeline's smooth ride quickly becomes more pleasing. Second, I'm 6'2" and fit comfortably in the Ridgeline. Very good all around visibility in the Ridgeline. I sat in a Tacoma and just didn't fit? [In fact, I can't drive with my seat in the lowest, furthest back position.] Four years, 40k miles, not one problem. 👍

I saw one comment talking about how the Honda Ridgeline unibody truck is not a truck because it's not a body on frame. That's like saying the 1969 Corvette body on frame car is a truck. There's no way a body on frame Corvette has a 5000lbs towing capacity with a 1500lbs payload capacity. Worst part is the Toyota Tacoma went with a turbo hybrid, turbo's make cars really inefficient. Especially when you stepping on the gas, the naturally aspirated engine will be more efficient. The new Toyota Tacoma front differential already broke, and with a small fuel tank of 18.2 Gallons, it doesn't go far at all. 350 miles of range without towing, but with towing, especially with a turbo expect 5-10mpg. The honda Ridgeline is not only more efficient, it has a bigger fuel tank, and with no turbo, mpg will be looking pretty good. With midsize pick-up trucks a unibody just makes sense, the body on frame doesn't get fully utilized like the full size trucks do. The size of an engine does play a part of fuel economy, but a turbo will always destroy MPG, just the reality.

Nice video. I've had a 2017 for almost 6 years. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Ridgeline's cabin space and rear seat set up with the ease of folding (You can do it one handed) is just unmatched right now. You can fit an entire bike back there with the seats folded up or just fold one and still have room for storage and one passenger. Don't know where you live, but wait till you drive on the ice and snow. Damn thing is just a snow beast!

I have a 23 RTL and have been very happy with it. I am thankful not to have the rough ride of other pickups like the Tacoma or Maverick. I wish the mpg was better on the Ridgeline, but a hard cover on the bed raises highway mpg to about 28 mpg.

I was considering trading my Silverado before the release of the 2024 but I didn't like the armrest and center console. I decided to hold off hoping the changes in '24 would sway me. But I ultimately decided to keep my Silverado for the sole reason that it was paid off. But when the Transmission failed.. I had no choice and the changes to the Ridgeline, tho minor, were enough to sway me. I was only getting around 14mpg city and 18-19mpg highway in my Silverado.. so the 19 city and 25 Highway on the Ridgeline is a welcome improvement.

I got fed up with Honda refusing to modernize while having higher prices than their competitors. Consider a 3-4 year used model. Most of the depreciation occurs in those years, and you can take advantage of that. Chop off some 10-15k off the top. They have made changes over that range so maybe some things are a deal breaker with those changes but something to consider.

Nice video, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I made a similar decision in 2022 when I downsized from our Ram to an RTL-E. I initially loved the car like ride and handling, the ease in parking and like you pointed out, the storage. I too especially liked the in-bed storage area as it came in handy taking boat related items to our marina. I’m older and retired and climbing in and out was also very easy. I say “was” because after a few road trips to visit our grown children and grandkids the highway experience wasn’t so great for us. The Ridgeline lacked highway power on long road trips and couldn’t get over 10 mpgs on rare occasions when we towed our boat. While I liked a lot of features my wife wouldn’t let up regarding the cartoon like graphics on the info system and the really poor navigation maps (RTL-Es had nav). The Ridgeline lasted 6 months and we traded it in for an F150 4X4 V8 which incidentally gets 18-22 mpg (more than I ever saw in the Ridgeline). It’s funny how things can come full circle. Earlier this year I had some serious health issues and surgery, we sold the boat, aren’t doing road trips anymore and I’ve been thinking about revisiting the Ridgeline Black edition. Hence I came across your video. Great video, hope you love it. Sounds like you had a better mindset going into the Ridgeline, maybe my timing was just a bit off. Funny I came across your Indian video as well, glad you like it. I Also sold our Harley and went to a Can Am RT Limited (anyone can ride one of these). Best of luck. G 😊

I had a lot of issues with my 2017. Two rear view camera wiring replaced under warranty. Fuel injectors under warranty. Start switch under extended warranty. Torque converter under extended warranty. The AWD quit just at the start of winter and the differential pump failed and required replacement at 49,000km. Took 5 trips to the city to have that addressed which is a 200km round trip for me and wastes a day. I had a lot of rust on the underside at 7 years which when the constant velocity boot was leaking and required replacement ended up costing $1700 to repair. All that said I bought a new one because I like the vehicle and there wasn’t much else available that I would consider. Friends have had issues with their GM trucks. No Toyotas were available. The dealer gave me about 69% of what I paid for the truck as trade in and took into account the $1700 repair and a $3000 rebate on the black edition sold it for me.

I do really enjoy the 500 watt stereo and heated steering wheel. I’m in upstate NY we get long cold winters. I do switch out factory tires and wheels for steel wheels with snow tires on all corners. Very good and thorough review. I’ve had 3 Ford F150’s in a row since 1990 and now I’m considering downsizing. This looks like a great option. Love the under bed trunk. That feature alone may do it for me. Also considering the Chevrolet Colorado and will probably let price be the biggest factor. Thanks again for the video. My wife is from Boston and recognized the cemetery you were at since she lived in Milton for awhile. Beautiful place.

I just recently bought a 2025 Ridgeline Black Edition in sonic gray pearl. I agree 100% with everything you said about the Ridgeline. I sold a Lexus RX450h, so I miss having an electronic parking brake, 360 camera and larger, more upright screen on the dash. I think the 2026 model will probably have an updated, more Pilot like, interior/dash design. This Ridgeline is just as quiet, and comfortable, as the Lexus and that makes it a real pleasure to drive.

Good, useful commentary. Wondering about the quality of the sound system? One benefit to the Black edition is that you get get an upgraded sound system. Otherwise, this truck is a great option for people that don't need to tow heavy things. Pity you can't get a set of Bilstein shocks for it though. Agree this is a better value than anything else on the market today.

You’re going to find that the Ridgeline is amazing in poor driving conditions like snow and ice. I have one in Alaska and we use studs in the winter. I bought a pair of Go Treads recovery slats to keep in the trunk in case I find myself stuck in the middle of nowhere. So far I’ve only ever needed them was for other ppl’s stranded big trucks. That’s right, the Ridgeline has rescued other trucks out of the snow. Hondas’s AWD system is elite. The only time my time has failed is when I left my truck outside in -45F for a week, it was cold enough that the electrolyte free AGM battery froze. It’s a great truck.

When we went to purchase - trade in our pilot, there were about 10 that they couldn’t sell for the same reason. My husband has always wanted a ridgeline, so it was a black RTL or 2 black editions. He loves that back power slide window too. They never told us what the recall was for but could sell us this one, it wasn’t a problem for that recall, thankfully. We’ve always loved our Honda’s. Glad you’re enjoying yours also!

I had full sized, small (dodge D50)and midsized (Dakotas) trucks. I now own a 2017 Ridgeline. It’s a really good “Cruck”. Hauls like a full size but it’s comfortable to drive and ride in. Many nice features, trunk, flip up rear seats, in bed Stereo/outlet (tailgating). We average around 24 mpg. More on summer roadtrips less in winter driving. At this time I would replace it with another one of the same model. If you don’t have to pull anything heavy this is a great vehicle.

Thanks for your honest assessment and not another commercial. I, too, have a 2024 Ridgeline, newly purchased. There were no Trailsports available in this area. I agree with all of what you said as I drove a Colorado and didn't like the interior space or the engine noise inside the cab. It is the best practical vehicle available, in my humble opinion. I did add a VCM muzzler, black running boards, and mud guards. I do wish it had parking sensors, surround cameras, and rear view mirror camera as the visibility out the back is not the best. I plan to dump the oil at about 1000 miles and change every 5000 after that as I plan to keep it for some time. It's a smooth running nice riding vehicle. Maybe not the best off-road, but for snow and ice it should be great. I am retired and plan on selling my 2017 Avalon and having this for my only vehicle. Thanks again.

I’ve has mine since 5/18/24. I agree about the back seat head rests. If your tailgate is down, you just see the ground and you can’t back up with the driver’s door open to see where you are at. Throws it back in park. I bought the midrange model so I don’t have the grill “hey you’re getting too close!” alarm or the power ports in the bed. I wished I would have ponied up the other $5K to get the front parking sensor, and it is not available as an aftermarket add-on through Honda. I still have trouble judging with some vehicles, esp. if parking behind trucks with the extended trailer hitches 🤬. But so far I’ve erred on the side of caution and had to scoot up a little closer.

I have a 2019 RTL. I was a Dodge truck driver for 23 years before switching to the Ridgeline. Unfortunately, I did not get the fancy stereo screen and safety sensors, as those were only for the top models then. I also did not get the locking tailgate or wider opening back doors. I like having the stick shift instead of buttons, and the flat storage compartment with adjustable arm rests between the front seats. I also like my steering wheel controls better. The new digital dash is cool, but can live without it. Overall, I really like my truck! The tailgate and trunk are awesome! It drives smooth, gets good gas mileage (30 mpg in warm weather on the freeway) and great AWD in snow, mud, and back [dirt] roads. I have not driven it in sand, and may never try that. This truck is not for extreme off-roading and heavy towing. Other than that, I am sure that you will really enjoy your new truck!

I may be biased since I have owned Ridgelines since '09 after having four full size pickup trucks from '83 until then.
Recently I wanted to get a new truck. I looked at all the mid size pickups except the Jeep.
The most comfortable, spacious interior and AWD at all times the 2nd Gen felt like,;" Honey, I'm home "! Honorable mention to the Ranger. But no AWD for when we used to have winter.
Don't get side steps for the look
. They are usually in the way for ingress/ egress.
Hopefully you get some time for more content on your RL.

The Ridgeline outperforms Tacoma in all areas except towing and off-roading which I don’t do. Wish they still made the RTLE , I love the blue interior lights, the premium sound and I have grey seats and interior.
