  • I got a perfect 1600 on my latest SAT this September and wanted to share every single resource I used to study, all of my advice for making the most out of your resources, and a few last-minute test day tips. I have separate videos for each of the sections (reading, writing, math, and essay) so be sure to check those out if you want in-depth guides for specific portions of the test! I really hope this helps you out--and good luck on your next test! Remember to stay hydrated, get some sleep, and take good care of yourselves.
    Comment your success stories or some tips that helped you, and please like this video and subscribe for more (these took fOReVeR to make!)
    [NOTE: as of 2024 the DSAT has replaced the paper version of the test, so some of this advice is outdated, but my general study strategies and methods of prep are still applicable.]
    Every main resource I used to study (that's still relevant):
    Khan Academy: www.khanacademy.org/sat
    Prepscholar (I can't recommend them enough if you are going to pay for a tutoring service, and now I'm an affiliate partner!): shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=142388...
    **College Board's tests**: collegereadiness.collegeboard...
    My mistakes spreadsheet (it's very unfinished, so don't take it tooo seriously--just use the formatting as a template for yours if you want): docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

    If you're looking for a paid tutoring service, the one I used was the online version of Prepscholar's test prep! It's what I've recommended to all of my friends (and already plugged in this video...), and in my opinion it's the prep company that most closely matches the questions and format of the actual SAT. Sign up with this link and I'll get a commission, which really helps out the channel!

    Hey
    Thank you so much for this video it's so inspiring and I truly enjoyed it
    I have a question
    So I graduated from secondary school at 16 and I've been at home ever since
    Now I'm 19 and I started studying algebra for the sat (I'll be relocating to the USA)
    I haven't practiced any sat material though because to be honest I have no idea on math
    So I just started studying algebra with Khan academy
    Do you think I should just start studying for the sats? Or I should continue with just studying algebra and other basics until I get the hang of it
    So sorry for the long rant

    • @dumebikanu3180
      @dumebikanu3180 3 роки тому

      And how many hours a day did you study

    • @annas-universe
      @annas-universe  3 роки тому

      It's good to have a foundation of algebra like being able to solve (mainly linear) equations, manipulate expressions, and analyze graphs for the SAT. This involves things like the order of operations and factoring that you would learn studying algebra, but after learning the basics it's probably better to focus on SAT-specific problems since they do have a particular format, and sometimes the content on the SAT can actually be simpler than a full algebra class (although it contains some geometry and statistics as well).
      Best of luck! And I studied for probably less than an hour a day for about a month or two at my peak, but occasionally I would do a full practice test in one sitting which took about 4 hours. It's all about quality over quantity when it comes to studying :)

      Aaw thanks! I would recommend figuring out what you don't know/what are your weakest sections first. Khan Academy has placement tests that probably give you a good idea of what areas of math (and reading/writing) you'll want to focus on specifically. After that, you can find a lot of free videos online if you need to brush up on certain topics (I love the Organic Chemistry Tutor's channel for this). I recommend taking as many of the real SAT practice tests as possible to learn the format and recording your mistakes as you go! Good luck :)

    • @annas-universe
      @annas-universe  3 роки тому +3

      There's definitely a LOT of luck involved, but I think familiarizing yourself as much as possible with each question format by taking as many practice tests as possible really can help you get the last bit of the way there, and verifying that there aren't any deeper comprehension issues left that you could work on :) But honestly, it's probably not worth spending a ton of time on, since colleges think of any score above about a 1550 pretty much equally

    • @annas-universe

      Hi! I don't really personally have any book recommendations (and I only showed a pic of Kaplan because my dad bought it in like 2016 or something before the SAT even changed..I never really used them much lol). I know a lot of people used the Erica Meltzer book for the reading section on the SAT subreddit and seem to like it, but I don't have any personal experience w it. Personally I'm not a huge fan of test prep books since none of them seem to accurately mirror the test questions well enough to be worth it, but I did use+love Prepscholar's online program (it is a lot pricier than a book though). There's a link in the description--imo it's especially good for the reading/writing sections :D

    Hey💖 thanks for all these tips for the SAT. I took SAT before for the first time and got 940 .it made me extremely depressed and anxious for another test but I have to take one cause I have to get in university...I'm in another country and I was originally born in Canada but I havent been there since I was 12 so iv lost most of my English and same with Math too so I dont know how I'm supposed to take the test without knowledge like u had for high school 😞what do I do.sorry for the long comment I needed to vent 😔✌

      @Vincent Chu thank u so much I really appreciate the things you've said . The thing is ..my whole situation is complicated 😭 I left Canada at the age of 12 and went to my home country where they speak my native language so ofc there was no English and then in my 12th grade I moved again to another country (Turkey) and everything was in Turkish....so basically the culture shock and even all the subjects being purely Turkish I tried my best got like 78 in my certificate ..as in overall grade for 12th grade ....I was happy I atleast passed but... turns out that u cant get in with that mark in unis ofc so that's y I'm taking up SAT. I've lost the will to continue from how many stuff is going downhill.but I'll take up on what you've said ..I've always wanted to do photography but considering in my culture its not possible but I'll try learning new things. Again thank u so much for this ill keep trying harder 🙇‍♀️

      I agree with Vincent! It can be really difficult to take the SAT without a strong background in English, but thankfully colleges are considering it less and less. :) Never give up though, and also start picking up hobbies that you enjoy, and then no matter what happens you'll be happy you at least spent time on what you love, and you can say you tried your best

    I am in 8th grade, and I got a 1190 on one of Khan Academy's practice tests. Is that good for a 8th grader cause I feel like it isn't. Anyways, thanks for the tips and strategies and I hope to use them on my actual SAT. Thanks!.

      Don't give up--you've got this! Be sure that you're understanding why you're making each mistake you make so that you can work on improving your most difficult sections/type of questions. For me the most helpful thing I did was taking as many of the real College Board practice tests as I could and recording my mistakes as I went :) Good luck!

    You are amazing! I am addicted to this channel xD.I wanted to ask if you have any online resources regarding the SATs like pdfs of books or even online premium lol ,dumb comment but yet If you already have one,that could be helpful for broke students like me.Anyways,my main question is:Is it possible to get a 1600 with khan academy alone?ofc intelligence matters somehow,but talking in general,does khan academy have everything you need?Like if you were motivated enough to use khan academy only,would you be able to make it to 1600?Thanks

    • @annas-universe
      @annas-universe  2 роки тому

      Haha thanks! I don't have a ton of other free online resources besides Khan Academy to suggest, but your local library might have SAT/standardized test content--I know I checked out a Barron's book from mine once. Also, r/sat on reddit has a collection of all of the released QAS tests which is really great if you run out of official ones. I think it's possible to score a 1600 with just Khan Academy (but probably easier using all of the released College Board practice tests)--the only issue with Khan is that you'll eventually kind of exhaust the resource and use up all of their practice questions in the categories you need if you're a high scorer aiming for a 1600. I think Khan works much better at getting people from a lower score like a 1000 up to a 1400/mid-1500 range. Once you understand all of the content and are in that range, it's totally possible to score a 1600 but there's also a lot of luck and skill involved with not making careless mistakes!

      @@annas-universe alright I see tysm ;and during college applications how do I put awards and honors and activities?Like do I write them in sentences or phrases .My concern is that doesn't it sound kinda like a show off and boring to college officers where students try to prove why they are best by kina like flexing their skills ,I am this,I am that winner,I am the best performer and such such.How do I avoid it look like it's a show off?and express my activities in a humble manner?I am 100% sure you have a perfect answer to this as I can see from your personality.Thanks

    • @annas-universe
      @annas-universe  2 роки тому

      Remember that those sections are there for you to “show off” and flex your achievements, though I get what you mean about wanting to do that in a humble way! Check out my stats+extracurriculars video to see what I did for those sections (I put what I wrote on screen for each activity). The key is to use short phrases and very minimal complete sentences and back up your activities with numbers

    • @annas-universe

      I would work on trying to consume as much content in English outside of the SAT as possible to adjust to all of the crazy grammar rules, idioms, etc. Try pushing yourself a bit beyond your reading comprehension with the content you’re consuming, since that’ll lead to the most improvement! Good luck :)

    The issue is that the SAT test has 15 tricks, one being exactly right, the other being exactly right as well, as well as 16 rights as 17 rights, and his 16 wrongs happen when the SAT is tricky and complicated to study and discussing the issue of either being in the present or being in the future of the present tense of something else, in particula, how one studies 4 hours per day without internet access in 5 different places of AP's.
