Better than Eminem😅
is it still the best diss track?
Incredibly said, Mr Rushdie. I’m very pleased and relieved to see that you haven’t let the animal that attacked you destroy your life. Please go out and speak at every event that relates to the incident and especially at anti-censorship events, we need you there.

@@hillehaiwe need to start taking hateful ideologies like Islam seriously. We need to realize there are many many more people like him that want to see all non-islamic values perish. We need to start standing up for our values
@MrBjoern91 You are delusional. One, what about Islam is different from Christianity, when both have brought immense suffering and both have brought immense joy to this world, and they are based in many of the same religious figures and principles. Books like The Satanic Verses relay the importance of overcoming dogmatism and the shifting attitudes associated with migration from one cultural world to another. When you claim that "we" have a hegemonic set of values that need protecting from an evil "other" of Islam, you not only discredit Rushdie's work and limit your own perspective, but also potentially align yourself with dogmatic religious violence. Look at all of the proxy wars conducted in the Middle East over the past hundred years and the failure of those wars to accomplish anything other than violence-- the conflicts in Yemen, in Iraq, in Syria, in Afghanistan. Look at how the region was relatively stable until the interference of the United States and the Soviet Union. Consider that these wars have only enforced religious dogmatism as extremists take power in a vacuum left by superpowers, and consider that the only ones to benefit from these wars are not us, not the citizens of these countries, but arms manufacturers. The road to ending religious violence and persecution is not more violence and persecution, it is peace.
Big big respect Mr. Rushdie, since 1988
Thank You Salman. The enlightenment project owes you a debt of gratitude. Another innocent declares, "The Emperor has no clothes!", and nearly pays the ultimate price. Was it not ever so.

Powerful words from Mr Rushdie.
May all that wish him harm suffer from their hatred.
Savage words, beautifully put.
Wow. I got shivers. The sheer bravery of this man.
Can we talk about the abject failure of security here? they had one NYS trooper positioned at the front of the stage.
He has been using less security himself for the last few years as it appeared the threats to him had largely waned, unfortunately that turned out not be an accurate assessment. I think blaming security is an easy thing to do, and misses the point that he should not have to live under guard in the first place.

He is the living embodiment of Badass
So true. Hadi Matar, like other publicity-hungry assassins in history, is a nobody who wanted to be a somebody. He's a kind of parasite that feels he can shine in the shadow of Salman Rushdie. However, Salman Rushdie, an intelligent, talented man, can still rise above his new physical ailments and keep writing high literature and poignant essays. Matar will just be another crazy jailbird a la John Hinckley and Mark David Chapman.
Although the young assassin may never realise it , he's a victim as well . He's just been manipulated , and USED by people who needed him to maintain their power .
And they won't give a damn if he spends his life in prison . And in exchange for his life , he's probably just fed the propaganda that he's pleased god in some way .
He's been completely cheated out of his life , and in exchange for what ? .... just a pat on the head ...... Wow !
Gotta love Rushdie.
Salman is such a badass…what an incredible life.❤

Well said
Rushdie: “Cope + seethe + L + your mother”
Neither the Ayatollah, nor the attacker, nor 99% muslims have even read his book. The book is about those who misuse religion and god for power, and how people shpuld not fall for such "seniors in religion" but think for themselves, and develop their own understanding of god. Ayatollah just proved him right.
Some religions render themselves more easily to abuse.
This makes the Fatwa on Curb Your Enthusiasm so much more badass. This man is a G

Rushdie has a rare and awe inspiring courage. With his words and by his sheer existence, he shines a light on the cowards of the world.
That reminds me of the Noble winning novelist Naguib Mahfouz he was also stabbed in the neck because of a novel, he survived but suffered from that attack till his death
I hope Rushidie and Emmanuel are doing okay against Islamic radical extremism!!!
The Chatauqua Institute, where this happened, refuses to employ armed guards, or metal detectors worried about the optics.

This is a truly interesting and inspiring gentleman. I've known of him since the fatwa was decreed by Iran decades ago but never delved further. My error.
Read him, just terrific novels.
Here, Rushdie sounds very balanced, liberal, and considerate. But, the moment he talks about India and Hindus, all this balance, liberalism and considerateness evaporates.

Salman is a brilliant human being. His words have awed me. Evil crossed his path and he brushed evil off. A powerful, amazing soul our world is lucky to to have. Human civilization is in a state of evolution where we are gradually moving away from barbaric religious dogma toward peaceful, sensible enlightenment. Salman took a hit from a barbarian and handled it with grace. What human quality is more sacred than grace?
If anything this will make more people read his books. I’m definitely piqued.
I hope the threats to him are given up ,he’s a good guy as anyone can see ,someone just obviously misunderstood what he said or wrote ,there’s no reason for him to be threatened with such barbarity ,he’s obviously a true gentleman & doesn’t deserve the way he’s been treated by strangers if they only knew him maybe they wouldn’t hate him so much
