I've just gone through the downsizing process and it became apparent that we have embraced the recycle/reuse philosophy so well that many of the donation agencies are overwhelmed with the amount of stuff being handed on. I was told on many occasions they would only take specific items and quantities to the point that I became exhausted driving around or calling up trying to pass on quality items such as books and household items. I am sad to say, much of it ended up in landfill. The hardest items were bedding because no-one will take anything that has even the smallest stain even though they had been otherwise well cared for in a clean home. Maybe I should have just 'dumped' it at a local homeless hideout in the hope it would make someone's night a little warmer and more comfortable.
Dog shelters will take bedding items if washed
WE LOVE MATT
It’s a process for sure start small you will get there

When my sisters kids were small and had birthday, she would go and buy very cheap used china, and put it up in the garden and let the kids have a competition to throw rocks and smash them. They had soo much fun with that.
Old China often high 8n lead, cadmium and arsenic. Breaking, scratching it creates dust which gets 8n the soil. There is no safe level of lead, it's a neurotoxin. Cadmium linked to cancer as is arsenic. Donate old China to household toxic round ups.
The Extreme Cleaning Specialist himself.

A good place to donate books is women’s shelters or women with children alternative to jail places, they love having books.
Anyone else weirded out by that sweater she had on?
No, but those lasso /firehose earrings, are not attractive
mandy3486: No …. in fact I think it looks nice on her. Pretty soft color.
I just moved today. I’m stressed out. I realize I just buy stuff out of boredom. I’m going to trot donate something every month until land try not shop for nothing else. My mother is a senior and has tons of clothes she want get rid of. But wears the same thing over again daily.
Where ai live no-one accepts books! I’ve asked everywhere!
Goodwill stores in USA, college book stores for $0.25 or they did in the '90's for textbooks that went to the shredder. Else eBay.
"Already decided you don't want the item. ...." How does THAT happen????
Libraries don't take books except brand new. Six months "Old" might have germs.
katehenry2718: Some do.
I donate to my library for their annual book sale.
