wheels look really good though, & the most important question is did you clean them good & properly before applying the paint? 2nd, you did it in the sun in the open that probably played a huge factor in the texture outcome idk if it was humid that day but if so that also played a role.
I ve seen quite a few mistakes right there my friend.. 1st Don't do it in the outside, 2nd you have to put the wheels standing straight, not down.. 3rd always put a thin layer first and then do 6-8 good thick layers, I saw that your white base color wasn't even a layer ;P it was too thin and that's probably the reason why the end finish looked beaten as you said.. aaand you don't need a base layer when plasti dipping your wheels.. Go watch DYC experienced videos for best results 👌🏼 hope i helped! :)
Next time warm up the can, so it will give u a smooth finish

Tape the rotor mounting surface off. You plasti dipped the wheel bearing dust covers too.
Nice work but the thing you did wrong is not clean then real good and have to shake them cans a lot and gotta get closer and wetter coats. That’s why it feels grainy and dry ! Then after should’ve bought plastic dip spray clear coat an it will seal it little better. But I do like the way they turn out

I like it also bro. Like Kendrick said, nobody is getting close enough to look at paint texture. I would eventually invest in the powder though. Plus side is when u powder u get to pick from different high viz yellows
thesouth50 yeah but average cost to do a set of motorcycle wheels is about $200-275, but.... fluorescent paints, powder coats are NOT UV stable and don’t last very long without fading....
I would rather plasti dip like this guy. All of the issues he had, are all avoidable.... warm up paint cans in water prior, do not mist coat very first coat, you WILL get texture every coat there after... if you spray and get sand texture on the surface, you spraying to far away and your paint is drying before it lays down, so stop, peel and redo. 🤟

Thick wet coats will give you a smooth texture.

Yellow looks good, idk if you have a guy that does powder coating. But if you don't i would get ahold of Jordan A. at Warhawks Powder Coating.

Most people don’t really care about what you do to the rims as long as it matches the color scheme.
Motorcycle rims get dirty fast so I don’t see the point in trying to get a perfect finish.

A perfect finish makes cleaning way easier while dirty Chainlube will hold on to texture and that bright yellow will be gone for those who look from distance.
Hey man if you plasti dip then gloss clear spray paint on top to finish its will have like a gloss clear with a smooth paint finish and peels off like nothing, like when I would do the wheels I'd use like 6-7 cans of dip then 2 cans of clear 👍 bike looks bad ass!!!
