THANKS!
😃 To all the wonderful people who have supported VideoRevealed 😃
It seems like the more I edit in a this sequence random things just keep disappearing and deleting or my mouse will just disappear and then it won't save automatically so I have to reboot the program or it will resize clips randomly. Is there something I am doing wrong?
Asus vivobook s15 it's goof laptop for video editing? I'm thinking to buy this its has i7 8th gen, 16 gb ram, 2gb MX150 DDR5 graphic, 1tb +128 GB SSD....pls tell me it's good or not? I want laptop which render fast 2 to 3 hr video clip.... plz reply
The unknown factor is what you mean by "video editing". Do you mean standard HD with minimal effects or 4k with multiple tracks and compositing? The laptop you're asking about is okay for standard HD edits but I would guess that the 1TB drive is a slow 5400 RPM drive and in that case I'd recommend putting your media and projects on a fast, external SSD connected via USB3.
Here is a tutorial that you may find useful: ua-cam.com/video/KUcvlKC0p7s/v-deo.html
UR A LITERAL GOOOOOOOODDDDD!!! I CANT EXPLAIN IN WORDS HOW MUCH TIME AND STRESS YOU JUST SAVED ME!!!!!! I was so worried for a bit and I could not find the project until i followed your steps. THANK YOU!!!
Glad I could help!
Premiere pro has deleted my video two times within two days. my video was complete and saved. I go to present it as I did multiple times the day before and it was GONE! Nowhere to be found and I'm searching for help and saw this. Now though you were on to something, what you helped with has nothing to do with the problems we are having and seeing that you are delusional to the problem claiming that hundreds of people in you comments just have to be making this up is quite weird and disturbing because what exactly are you on here for if premiere pro doesn't have issues. Why exactly should we need your help if you don't even know what to help with? Feeling hopeless after watching you videos and reading your comments.
Did you get your project back anyhow?
Premiere deleted ALL my projects. I was working, it crashed and my PC automatically restarted then all my projects were gone. The origin project file is EMPTY, ALL GONE.
lmao bro I’m pretty sure premier is just deleting files off of my computer
Did you solve the issue? Had the same issue
exactly what i was lookin for, thankyou soo much
none of the videos today explain the cause to the issue to this extent its a shame
ALL of my projects gone. I didn’t clear my cache. They’re not in the folder. They’re not in recent or autosaved projects. They are nowhere to be found.
Premiere Pro does not delete your Projects or media. It just doesn't. I don't know how else to say that so I suggest you do a thorough search using wildcards to find. Search for *.proproj.
Mine too
@@VideoRevealed Oh, but it does! community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/all-premiere-pro-project-files-have-disappeared-from-everywhere/m-p/10949098?page=6
WHEW! That's the best news ALL weekend! maybe ALL year!
Great!
They was literally deleted.. I was working 2 days ago with one movie about 4 hours and I saved and named it "idk" then I've closed my PC.. Today I cant find them anywhere.. It so sad can we hit 10 likes?
There is absolutely no way that Premiere Pro removed your media, or projects or anything. Also, backup anything you don't want to loose.
@@VideoRevealed Ah, okay thanks you sir
@@VideoRevealed This is just untrue. community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/all-premiere-pro-project-files-have-disappeared-from-everywhere/m-p/10949098?page=6
Hello, I really hope you see this. So I understand that the location is everything. And I understand it doesn't delete anything. But here's what happened for me: I was working on a project and it involved multiple video clips and audio. I was just color correcting the video image when suddenly it started skipping and freezing. So I did a save just in case anything happened. Then I went to exit to which it asked if I wanted to save again but as it did the timeline erased and the program showed my video all twisted and weird. So since I already saved I just exited because I didn't want to save it to that. But when I opened it up everything was gone. The file was there, all of them in fact. But when I opened the file up there was nothing in the timeline or program. Actually in the bottom left box, project, the individual videos were there. But all my work was gone. So now I'm confused on what happened? Since I've saved it time again and yet every file was the same -- nothing. What did I do wrong?
Yeah, that's EXACTLY what happened to me
Look in the Adobe Premiere Pro Auto-Save folder that Premiere Pro created automatically. You'll see your last saved Project in there.
You should also watch this tutorial on saving versions:
Adobe Premiere Pro Auto-Save
And you should be saving Projects to the cloud just in case:
ua-cam.com/video/I3gO1cue2Uo/v-deo.html
See my reply to Donna.
@@VideoRevealed Thanks, but my file's not in there
@@VideoRevealed I know. I went through every file in my Auto-Save file. I know where my files are. But when I opened any version of it everything was gone. The only thing that remained where my original videos that I imported into the program. But everything on my TL was gone. I even contacted Adobe support but no one knew what happened. But at least I can prevent it from happening again.
you saved me ! cleared preferences and thought all projects were gone but I found this tutorial luckily. Thank you!
Do you have any experience with Creative cloud signing you off all the time? It asks me to sign in every time I open Premiere pro after installing the 2018 update... Thanks /Per
I have never experienced this and I'm not sure of how to fix it. You're best to contact Adobe support.
Sir , i have a problem ... Please help me sir... Actually i have worked over my project 5 months ago . After that i started new project and in the recent bar that 5 months old project is not visible... I opened my document autosave and i was unable to find that project... Please please sir... Help me...
It's up to you to know where you're saving all your Projects and media. Premiere Pro does not manage or organize any of that.
When you started a Project, you made a choice of where to save everything. Premiere Pro obeys what you choose so it's up to you.
Also, you should backup anything that's important.
ua-cam.com/video/I3gO1cue2Uo/v-deo.html
@@VideoRevealed thanks
my shit got deleted as soon as i saved it.... I did what you did... nothing.
Premiere Pro does not delete media. What's different is the reference to the media on your computer. The links to Projects is no different than the recent documents in Word or the recent images in Photoshop.
This tutorial might help for future projects: ua-cam.com/video/udK5pKD55no/v-deo.html
My issue is more that Premiere seemed to ACTUALLY delete all related files to the work project. The project is still there, but all of a sudden while I was trying to add some B-Roll, my original voiceover file (.WAV) & video file (.MP4) got yeeted into oblivion, and I can't find them ANYWHERE on my PC. Before anybody asks, YES I kept them in separate locations, and even the entire folder where I kept my VOs got removed. NO, I can't find them in the recycle bin, and nothing came up when searching the file explorer.
Same thing happened to me. Still trying to figure our where my rushes went. The entire folder just disappeared!
Bro I was working on a project then for no reason it deletd like half my audio files on my project Im so mad
I followed everything you said but the " Reveal in explorer " optione its not on and I cant click on it. When I go to my documents where all my projects are saved there is not any projects that I can open. Do you know what can I do to get them back?
Thanks for your help.
Adobe expects the user to have an understanding of standard computer file management. All the Projects and media are exactly where you saved them. This tutorial might help for the future:
ua-cam.com/video/udK5pKD55no/v-deo.html
Today at 12 am i was working on a project, and i made sure i saved it and i know the location of where i save them. But like 2 hours ago i tried to open it and i could not find it, and the auto saves were gone too. The recycle bin was empty, so i dowloaded the "search everything" program and neither the project or the auto saves are on my computer, just the .prv folder.
I dont know what happened, but i downloaded "recuva" to see if it can find the project, maybe there was an error with the computer idk, wish me luck. Im freaking out.
I've never seen Premiere Pro do that. You may want to turn on backup to the cloud: ua-cam.com/video/I3gO1cue2Uo/v-deo.html
This happened to me too, and according to friends of mine and what I read on forums, we're certainly not the only ones.
Did you manage to revive the files and open them? Same error just happened to me
Well I can`t find my projects....it`s not on recent and not on the drive. I have to begin the projects all over again
Absolutely guaranteed, Premiere Pro does not delete Projects or media on your drive.
I'm facing the same issue.
Thank you. But what if you really want to delete projects that you don't use anymore? ALT-Shift makes them dissapear from the start menu. Is there a tool or something in the options to delete projects? Need to clean my HDD.
Standard file operations work well. Drag to the trash, empty the trash.
@@VideoRevealed Thank you for your answer (and video). Yes, the same method I do. I just hoped for a solution inside the program. Have a nice day 🔆
Did PPro ever delete user's media files? Of course it did, with 2017.1 version.
You can see it listed under "List of known issues":
"Potential deletion of media files when using Premiere Pro CC 2017 (11.1)"
Here:
helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/known-issues-premiere-pro-cc-2017.html
Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. That was only one version is 25 years and it was fixed with a quick update. Lastly, that never happened to anyone who did not change the default settings for cache deletion.
That is correct, however "never say never..." :)
Is there a way to delete media files direct inside Premiere so they would also be deleted on the harddrive? There used to be some option in the Project window I think, can not remember what it was, but it had one big flaw - it Shift Deleted the file, it skipped the trash bin. So if you did that - the file was lost for good. Is there a way to delete the file so, that it just goes to the computer's trash bin? Really would need that. Some shortcuts right on the Sequence options.
Right-click and select Make Offline. That's where you get the option to delete the media. It will still show as missing in your Project so this is not a good workflow.
Thank you so much for your help. If you don't know where to find your projects, create a new one and hover above it. It'll tell you where to find the project, and in that folder there will be all of your other projects. Once again, thank you so much!
Happy to help.
Hi . I rendering a big file size video and completed ....but Adobe premiere did not generate and save it as mp4 ....with the correct big file size ...instead it "saved" it as 1 KB small mp4 file with zero contents in it no video no sound
where can can find this rendered video that not properly save by Adobe premiere?
Thank you Smith hope you can help
Make sure you have enough space on your storage first as that may cause the issue.
I know where I had it saved but I can’t find it!! Someone help!
Computer 101 = you're responsible for file management and backup. Try searching for prproj.
@@VideoRevealed i know I’m irresponsible lol. Not coming up when I spotlight search prproj either. Funny thing was, I knew where I saved it too!
nah fr like in the folder where i saved the project the project file is gone. deleted.
Just like the tutorial shows, Premiere Pro does not delete your Projects or media.
Actually, a friend of mine had it in a "Documents / Premiere" folder, and it got deleted. The bug probably entails Adobe thinking "hey, it's your first time here!" and preparing folders / etc. literally "substituting" them.
Tldr; never save inside adobe folders.
If you kept the default settings in Premiere Pro then nothing is ever deleted.
This is the third time I've had to go to your video. Each time Premier Pro has thrown a slightly different curve, but always the files are gone from the timeline. This time they are gone from the media browser and when I click on "open recent" nothing happens even though the name of the vid I was working on is there.
All the links for clips in the Timeline and the startup splash screen are based on the Project. If you're loosing those links, then it's sounds like a larger operating system or hard drive issue.
Hi. thanks for yours help. my premiere pro 2020 is missing the start up menu! I can't se list off project I have in the menu, (Home)
In the Edit menu > Preferences > General. Make sure At Startup is set to Show Home.
i replaced my converted footage with the original footage in premiere pro and the original footage got deleted in mother folder. How to recover it?
Premiere Pro does not delete files off your computer. They are exactly where you put them. Plus, backup any important files always.
When I open Premier Pro 22 after completing a new project, then go back in to look at that latest project, it's gone and the "Recent" files are from 2 months ago!? ☹
Recent file list are links to Projects, not actual files. All your Projects and media are in their original location. Here's a tutorial:

@@VideoRevealed Thanks, I will check it out
Premier Pro 2022 and Windows 11 have me baffled again. Many of my past files are not showig up, I know they are probably there but so frustrating trying to find where PP put them all
I've been running Windows 11 with no issues. Not sure what's going on there.
I was in premiere had finished my project and was just tidying up and deleting the clips from the downloaded stuff that I hadn't used. And with that my sequence disappeared. Clicking undo does nothing. Going into history and clicking back to my last action does nothing. The sequence just isn't there anymore. When I try to re open the project again the sequence or time line window is empty. I don't know what happened. I didn't have my project highlighted when I pressed delete, and even if I did it should undo.
Check your backups that get automatically made for you in the folder where your Project is.
Also, you should always duplicate a Project and work on a new version each day for mission critical work.
Lastly, I've never see Premiere Pro delete anything ever on its own.
@@VideoRevealed Prem2022 .. Working in a project. Save. Open project .. thinking I'm opening a new project .. it imports into my current project. Now all messed up. I'm not new to this either. Hey! I just updated my laptop and I’m assuming Adobe did too because now all my projects that I’ve been working on for the past months are gone, I tired the auto leave folder to open projects there’s only a few I see but there all greyed out I can’t even click on them but that’s not even all of them is there something I’m doing wrong or did Adobe just deleted everything?
Premiere Pro doesn't delete your files. Absolutely 100% guaranteed. There are exactly where they were created. You just have to find them.
The recent file list is not the actual files. They are a link to the files.

Found the auto saved project by looking at "reveal project in explorer" Premier Pro froze up and I had to shut it down, when I opened it back up the time line was gone! Oh well, every time I do this I get it back a little faster.
If you're crashing a lot, I'd look at this:

i was working on a long project with a lot of video files and everything deleted when i accidentally pressed something on my keyboard idk what i pressed but i couldnt undo to bring my project back. i spent 3hours on that project!
Backup and save versions all the time. Also save often, especially after an important edit. I save almost every minute during a job so I never loose anything big. Also, Premiere Pro auto-saves versions for you so look in the same place you saved the Project file.
Here's a tutorial with some guidelines: ua-cam.com/video/KXqDHC7X430/v-deo.html
I can confirm 100% Premiere pro deleted my video files. I actually HEARD the bin sound effect as they were deleted this time. The first time was one week ago, and I first suspected my external SSD might be faulty and stopped using it. This time I had the files on my internal SSD. I drag and dropped a file onto my time line and all of a sudden multiple files were suddenly permanently deleted from my system. Both times this happened while using Premiere Pro. I have no idea how. I just know PP is somehow the culprit no matter how unlikely it sounds even to me.
Thanks man, at first I was panicking
I'm happy to help.
Sir how to blur video background using premiere pro like DSLR. ?
I would not recommend Premiere Pro for that as the mask tracker is not detailed enough. You need to do that in either After Effects or better yet, Mocha Pro. You'd have to track multiple masks around each foreground subject and if you've never done anything like that (rotoscoping) then you're in for a lot of hard work.
Check out these tutorials: vimeo.com/mochapro
Can you make AE OR MOCHA TUTORIAL ON IT
I won't be creating any roto tutorials. The amount of work is brutal and not at all fun. I doubt most people would even take the time required to learn roto properly. It's a very big commitment.
I went to save a project I was working on and my timeline just completely cleared out and I couldn't undo what I did, so what I had been doing for hours was all lost.
In 30 years I've never seen that. I think it might be user error. But let's say Premiere Pro did something very wrong, the answer is, always backup and save multiple versions to local and cloud locations.
@@VideoRevealed This just happened to me for the second time, too. Project file gone and all Auto saves for that particular project, too. It's really troubling and frankly devastating, with all those hours of work lost. I've seen many people report this problem by now (here, for example: community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/all-premiere-pro-project-files-have-disappeared-from-everywhere/m-p/10949098?page=6) but Adobe doesn't seem to have addressed this, ever. I think it's time to issue a serious warning to any working professional not to work with Premiere Pro anymore until this troubling and creepy issue is fixed!
Can you make After Effects OR MOCHA pro TUTORIAL ON how to blur video background like DSLR.?
Unfortunately I won't be doing any roto tutorials like that, and even if I did, It's rare that someone will invest the huge amount of time learning how to do it properly.
you're a life saver big dog i almost went on a rampage
No need for a rampage. All is well. 😊

But having to manually open all the recent files is annoying. I can't believe they haven't fixed this bug.
I have to switch between multiple projects during the day. So I guess I just have to spend 10mins every week to just bring all the recents back.
Ugh.
It's not a bug. This is expected behavior and makes perfect sense.
when i click on open project nothing is there... man i worked for days
As I mentioned in this tutorial, Premiere Pro does not delete your projects or media. YOU should know where your stuff is.

Alright, thanks for the help
How do I find my old projects? Could someone help me please?
Use the search feature in your computer.
Yesterday I rendered a school task from premiere and Encoder. I saved the projects file on my External HDD and my rendered video are also on hat drive . they both are in a specific folder for school. I check today and the auto-save, the normal map are suddenly empty. Even my rendered video is gone. Today I updated Premiere pro and it happened and today was even my deadline. I had to show my teacher the log files that I really made it and rendered it. that was the only thing i could recover through encoder. a log file. how is this suddenly gone
There must be other factors going on besides Premiere Pro. I absolutely guarantee that Premiere Pro has no control over your computer file system. Also, backup, backup, backup.
No it's definitely not about that. As I just search for exact date when I first created file. And no file been opened that day it shows. But :)) I know it was opened on that day as il made video that very same day. I have a video but project file somehow gone. So I have a strong filling when your project is not in recent files it could be tough to find it as it might not exist anymore due to some mysterious reason
Colin, if you look at this list of Known Issues for Premiere in April 2017 people were having ORIGINAL MEDIA files deleted. I don't know about you but that would ruin my day. helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/known-issues-premiere-pro-cc-2017.html
I have to remember that Alt +Shift Keyboard shortcut when opening Premiere. That will come in handy.
That problem only occurred for users who changed the default cache settings (I didn't). Adobe added a feature to delete old cache files and for a short time, Premiere Pro deleted media accidentally. Adobe promptly released an update and this is no longer a problem. That being said, I still never allow Premiere Pro to delete anything automatically...and I backup, backup, backup! 🙄
The backup part is what would have ruined my day. I have an online backup made of my files but I don't duplicate them before editing. This is a BIG MISTAKE on my part. If someone was paying for my content I would absolutely backup before editing. The first time I lose a days worth of filming I'll get in the habit of backing up.
Someone I know just hit this issue on the latest 2017 release without modifying their cache files. This has never happened to me so I've been trying to figure out why - since losing media files mid-edit is not fun even with a backup - but have not come up with an answer yet for them.
Please advise that person to update to the latest version of Premiere Pro CC 2018.
Sadly I took them off of 2018 after it was causing some major issues that tech support was unable to resolve after hours of failed attempts. (MacOS version) My job is also universally on 2017 because of instability issues in 2018, so I'm bummed that 2017 - usually for me the most stable MacOS version - did that for the person I know.
Thanks for your help💯💯
My pleasure.
first time my Adobe premiere crashed and I can find the project location like this video. 2 days after, I was still working on that project, saved everything before I left, and everything was gone in the next morning. When I clicked recent files they said the file location was unavailable. And since I'm an amateur I knew nothing about backup bc I thought Adobe would guarantee for that :(

Like this video clearly shows, Premiere Pro does not delete your Projects or media.
Found them. The file structure of Mac OS is a little confusing. Turns out I didn't know how it worked. For those of you who can't find your files, start by clicking on "Macintosh HD" => "users" and then go from there. Don't look for your files in documents under iCloud.
