Well mate I just got asked by UA-cam what I thought of your video here in a survey. I gave you 5 smiley faces as I really enjoyed your help teaching me a new editor a few tricks on better editing. I also subbed since I got so much out of this. Thank you mate 🤝🇦🇺👍
LOL. love the splits tutorial at the end 🤣 I am so inspired to make some Charlie's Angels- style transitions & action frames now- hopefully without groin injuries🤣
I love the dad jokes. My girl loves feeling like she's not the only one struggling with the UA-cam life. We both love the editing tips and how you just casually answered a different question (the copy and paste effects) that we didn't even know how to ask!
I didnt your comment about 8:46 and had to really suffer through it and now I need therapy as I am traumatized for life :-). Real bad. Anyone on this channel who want to treat me? All jokes aside, one of the most informative PP (pronounced pee pee) videos I have ever seen. I was editing a video and wanted something different to add to the video and was kinda leaning towards "Picture in Picture in Premiere Pro!!!!!" and your tutorial made it happen and I am going to use this technique and track matte, all the time, every time, every single time :-). Thanks for this tutorial. Keep it coming.
Xavier! You do an excellent job explaining things and you keep things professional. Ive learned most of my premier pro stuff from you. Thanks! Keep up the great work man!
I needed this yesterday, when my final was due at midnight! It was for a music ensemble class where I overdubbed vocals, but it worked out since the overdubs were at 1080p on top of a 4K background clip.
Great video. Do you happen to know how to solve this problem? As soon as i select video track 3, my shape moves to a different location. It goes to the bottom right.
@6:20 what if i want to add a border on this circle like your previous borders? Can i use that while having the track matte in place? I've been trying to do this but it's not working.
I love it, the first video really shows PIP i ve searched for long . i got a problem, the effect only apply a short time, then the other video dissapear in black, and just keep the squared video, but have to drag the square all the timeline to fix it.
Hey Javier, great video! I wanted to ask, When I go to change the position of a clip in the viewer screen, it moves really slow, is there a way to set up PP so my clips moves like yours within the viewer screen or is it just computer specs? Im using a mic mini 2018 with the 6-core processor and 16Gb of ram. Thank you!
Javier, when trying to apply the matte track effect, and adjusting the scale of the video within the circle, I can only seem to adjust the scale of the circle. What am I doing wrong?
Hey, Javier! I'm new and really liked this tutorial. Quick question...what happens if I can't find the options you have? I'm not able to add a border to my PIP because Appearance isn't an option. One other thing, sometimes I have a hard time seeing what you're doing. Could you possibly zoom into the work area for future videos? Thanks so mich for this!
Hi Javier, Great video! I was wondering if there was a way to insert a video of what you are reacting to in real time? I.e. if I make a video of me playing and pausing another video, can the video I'm watching be inserted showing when I play and pause it? This is instead of just having two videos playing steadily throughout. I appreciate your help.
At 4:58 when you click and drag to create the circle, it add that pink thing on v2 in the timeline panel. How do you get that? When I try it, it doesn't create the pink thing on v2; it just creates the shape right on my video. Thanks in advance!
Really useful. May I know what your system specs are? I'm doing this on an ROG Strix GL503VD (core i7, 16gb ram, gtx 1050) yet it is veryy slow to respond, not as smooth as in your video. And when playing 2 4k clips side by side, preview is unwatchable, it lags endlessly. Any tips?
Yes, use proxies and you will be able to playback those files as smooth as butter. Here is my tutorial on how to set it up: ua-cam.com/video/LUoscELVnoQ/v-deo.html
@@JavierMercedes you're right. I tried proxies in Vegas pro and it works but the text in the video (race footage from a track day) became very pixelated. I just now investigated some more and Premier told me I had an issue with the Intel Graphics driver I needed to fix. Gonna try that before trying proxies. Also, were you using 4k footage in this video? Thanks for the reply!
Thank you! I've been looking for this exact effect but non of 8 videos I watched do what you did. I have a question, is there anyway to make the square to be a certain ratio (like 16:9)?
I'm learning premier pro as I go with youtube and blogs. I'm usually really inpatient and skip intro's and as much jabber jaw as posable, and get right to what i want to learn. That being said, your intro was great. It was entertaining and showed the techniques i was looking to learn. I think one thing was missing, when i put my "picture in picture" in the timeline it just pops in. I now need to learn how to transition it in with movement.
Maybe I'm missing something, but if I have more than one speaker on screen from separate video calls, how do I animate between them and also have their strokes animate with them....without copying and pasting keyframes between masks and shapes? Love your channel!
so does it automatically do the animation from full screen to picture and picture or do you have to apply some sort of animation effect for it to do that?
how do you make the scaled down video (the picture in picture) zoom back to full mid video? I have 2 videos I want one primarily in the corner but I need to zoom it to the full window for a small section of the video to get some smaller detail visible. How would I do this?
You are truly saving my content creator career lol. I appreciate how you jump right into the tutorial. Your videos are soooo well done. You came right in with the shits😂❤️
How do I get to the Effects window again? Shift what? Haha, I'm just kidding. Love this video! Oh man! I thought the first 8.5 mins were good being so content rich, clearly demonstrated, fast-paced, but still slow enough where I could re-watch a few times to nail down the technique of using track mat since I'm completely new to Premier Pro. But Javier, that last section of your video is amazing! I love your sense of comedy, the outtakes, the editing, the overthetopness (#shouldbeaword). I was on the fence about subscribing leaning towards the "click it" side in the beginning, but that last part of the video sealed the deal. What's awesome about doing this is I'll be looking to watch the end of all your videos even after just watching this one first the first time on your channel. Hopefully this isn't a one-off. I'm a brand new creator and I'll be re-watching, not just to understand this PIP technique, but to also to learn your pacing, style, etc to see how I can incorporate that into my own since I don't really have a style yet. Subscribe clicked. Bell clicked, Like clicked. Watched the whole way, through. You NAILED it. Great work!
Whatever you do, don't make it to 8:46 into the video. Picture in Picture in Premiere Pro.
okay now all we need is a tutorial about the intro

Cracking me up!! 🤣

Post-8:46 is why I subscribed.
I love the dad jokes. My girl loves feeling like she's not the only one struggling with the UA-cam life. We both love the editing tips and how you just casually answered a different question (the copy and paste effects) that we didn't even know how to ask!
The bonus for participating 8 min+- was GOLD! Great tutorial! Definitely helped

JUST BLOODY AMAZING SO THANK YOU!!!!

Javier, when trying to apply the matte track effect, and adjusting the scale of the video within the circle, I can only seem to adjust the scale of the circle. What am I doing wrong?
i watched it in 1,75x and it gave a unique touch to the end of the video
Exactly what I needed to accomplish - Thank You..
Picture in Picture, glad I could help Raymond!
Hi, I wanted to know how to do a picture in a picture frame like you showed in the beginning but you never explained that
i just wanted to learn how to do picture in picture and stumbled across this amazing video. Subscribed after about 30 seconds of watching it lol

is it possible to add a drop shadow while using the track matte method?

You have to apply the keyframing to do that
