Absolutely classic Moody Blues, great intro and galloping rocker, anything they did from 1967 to 1972 is absolute gold, you should do each album, in full, as time permits, their albums were made to be heard in one impactful experience. They are all magnificent and even jaw dropping with their mix of Rock, Classical, Folk, early Prog and Psychedelic accents. Amazing band, do them justice and enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎻🎶🔥
Those evoke some memories as you might expect. Their albums were great, I bought them as they were released, but I was lucky enough to see them at The Forum in LA in '71 (about to leave by ship for Viet Nam, thanks to the US Navy) and I was blown away by how hard they rocked live almost like a different harder rock band but I knew the songs so it was fantastic.
The Moody Blues were so good! Their albums In Search Of The Lost Chord, On The Threshold of a Dream, and To My Children's Children's, Children are all great albums. You can add A Question Of Balance and Every Good Boy Does Favor to the lists as well.
The Departure intro reminds me of a jet engine ascending. "Ride My See Saw"snd "Peak Hour" from "Days of Future Passed" are probably my two favorite Moody Blues songs.
In my opinion he's saying he's tired of the rat race, and is giving up his seat on the "see-saw" of modern life, and is going to get off the ride and chill out. It's a great intro to my favorite MB album. Notice at the end of "Departure" he doesn't give the final rhyme... "To have all of these things in our memory's horde, and to use them to help us to find..." And then he breaks into hysterical laughter without finishing the line. The closing words of the couplet are obviously "the Lost Chord." If completed it would be "To have all of these things in our memory's horde, and to use them to help us to find the Lost Chord."
Here's hoping it won't take you forever to get around to hearing the Moody Blues 2 best songs, both of which were on their 7th album, *Seventh Sojourn:* *You And Me* and *The Land Of Make Believe.* Both songs have these soaring passages that give you chills...
Great song from a great album. I can recommend the whole album, their second (first was Days of Future Passed). I am big fan of their first 6 albums, and they are best taken as a whole experience.
The start of my favorite Moodys album. In Search of the Lost Chord. The entire album is incredible and thew cover is literally mind blowing as is the song Legend of a mind also on this heavily drug influenced album This song is about getting out of the rat race

Intro-Prosession/song Story in your Eyes
Def!💙
One of my favorite groups. Have seen them live 5 times.
LOVE this song.
Ride my See-saw is so good. Ty for reaction sir! It's all Justin Hayward on lead vox.

Great insight!

The Moody Blues were the only other "progressive rock" band that emphasized vocal harmonies the way YES did.
You need react to “Los Tres - Amores Incompletos”. Chilean best blues 🔥
Not one of my favourites... try the lesser known 'The story in your eyes?'
Not lesser known (at least in the NYC area), it was all over the radio when the album was released and a great song at that!
Love them both.
