- The city of Isfahan was twice the capital of Persia. Isfahan flourished most under the Safavid dynasty from the 16th to the 18th century when its finest monuments were created. Isfahan is one of the most important architectural centers in the Islamic world. There are 3 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Isfahan: Naqsh-e Jahan Square, Masjed-e Jame, and The Persian Garden (represented in Isfahan by Chehel Sotoun).

European architecture, in fact, on the contrary, imitated some ideas from islamic architecture. Did Taj mahal, made in medieval india, copy Eiffel Tower, architecture from modern times, both having nothing do with each other?
Check out european gothic architectura; see how islamic architecture influenced it: trefoil arch, the pointed arch - all come from islamic architecture. Don't speak your whimps; check out the facts.

In days long past, Isfahan, like Baghdad in neighboring Iraq, was considered to be one of the great cities of the East. It was a center for culture and learning and, as one can see, it boasts some of the most beautiful architecture in the entire Islamic World. Simply stunning.
When I stood on that famous square (Naghsh-e Jahan is the name?) back in August 2019, I felt as though I were in the centre of the universe. Successive Persian kings must have felt the same.

True but Tabriz too. by the time of Bagdads glory how ever these two cities were not as big and magnificent as bagdad was in the middle ages, but it was Marv, Samarkand, Bukhara & Nishapour were the greatest cities of Iran and all of Central Asia but were destroyed during the mongol invasion, Tabriz & Isphahan were the two cities who flourished after the mongols were eliminated from the region.
I think that my country should be admired because of its great poets such as Hafiz and Molana

OOOOO tak to je tajuplné a velmi okouzlující místo. Moc se mi líbí zdobnost a místní architektura jednotlivých staveb. Jednotlivé mozaiky a zdobení budov zvnějšku je famózní. A to už vůbec nemluvím o dekoru vnitříních zobrazených postor. Jsem unešená. Vím jistě, že kdybych se tu na živo procházela, jistě bych se na mnoha místech fotila, abych měla na takovéhle fantastické místo spousty vzpomínek. Člověk ani neví, kam při sledování koukat dříve, musela jsem si to pustit vícekrát abych vstřebala všechnu tu krásu, kouzlo a místní atmosféru, kterou cítím i u sebe doma..

Think of castille in spain where some parts of the world refer them as castilan
Or holland in Dutch
As outsider, you can refer them to persia, but the official name has always been eranshah or iran

Great site, so many excellent buildings in good condition. Fascinated by the frescos of both Islamic and Christian origin and the masonary bridges are unusual by western standards. My young brother got to see Isfahan about 2 weeks before the Ayotollah returned to Iran and he found it impressive. 👀👍
