- Royal commentator Afua Hagan reacts to sources revealing that Kate Middleton was forced to reveal her cancer diagnosis, after news of her diagnosis threatened to leak.
In an emotional video message, Kate spoke about the “huge shock” after tests identified cancer following her abdominal surgery and the “incredibly tough couple of months” her family have experienced, with her voice cracking with emotion at times during the footage.
The King, diagnosed with cancer in February, is said to be “proud” of his “beloved” daughter-in-law for her “courage” in speaking about her treatment and has remained in close contact during the past few weeks.
Words of support also came from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who said: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
Afua says: “Their hands were forced in some way.”

How about you both sit back and think for 1 minute about Catherines diagnosis, just for a minute OK! Catherine not only had to deal with processing this diagnosis for herself which would have been devastating, but she also had to think about her children. OMG, try and be human both of you for a change!
Millions of people get a cancer diagnosis each year. It doesn’t take three or four months to tell your children you have cancer. It’s not anything shameful or embarrassing, it’s now a common disease. The majority of early stage cancers are curable with proper treatment. Most early stage cancer patients have to continue raising their families, working, and basically just going about their normal lives. None of this really makes sense.

And they know what happened to their father’s mother so it’s not like they have no concept of the idea that one can lose a parent prematurely…Gd forbid.
Somebody wrote four or five months? Literally healing from major major surgery for about six weeks when she gets this diagnosis and a couple weeks later is strong enough to start treatment. She literally had a month to process it mentally with her husband and other closest family members. Then they had to I’m guessing tell the kids the night before or that morning of that statement or at least the day it was aired. (Not sure if they came earlier that day from the BBC or the day before to record her message.) they would not have wanted the kids to worry at school, or to have to hold it in if they needed to talk. I’m glad they went away for Easter to the countryside and their estate on the Sandringham estate. (I’m not sure how to spell it, and I’m not gonna embarrass myself.) 😂
They spent a lot of time there together during the Covid lockdowns and that’s where they did all that homeschooling and virtual fundraising and/or meeting others who are very involved in various charities that are close to their hearts.
I hope she gets plenty of fresh air and that this treatment keeps her healthy, even though she may not feel like it is until it’s over.
This is not a head cold even if there are no known cells left in her body. They want to make sure they get any remaining single cell even so it doesn’t spread and regrow. But the treatment although there are many different ones, which I know nothing about any of them… and I also know that individuals react differently to different treatments than others, so, at first, it could be a bit trial and error. But it won’t be fun.
Tg the POW is a strong woman surrounded by those who love her, and whom she loves. She has her parents and siblings, and their families as well as uncle Gary 😂 and other extended family, as well as obviously her in-laws who I think respect the job she does as much as those of us in the public, who keep up or catch snippets of how both Catherine and William interact with others.
It’s just so ironic. They’ve helped so many different cancer patients with an uplifting word for opening a new clinic and in a few cases each of them have gotten rather close to at least one of the patients that they have met.
I thought it was awesome that that young girl Mila sent Catherine that message. I hope they gave her an extra surge of strength and fortitude.
And thankfully she has everything to live for which is also great for her mental outlook which can help your physical health as well.
JJ might just as well wear an “ I Love Harry & Meghan “ Tee Shirt, because between him and Afua there is hardly a positive word about the rest of the Royal Family!

Being here in the US, Princess Catherine is absolutely a blessing for the UK. There may have been pressure for her to release that notice, but Im sure her main concern was about her family especially the children.

There is a claim that a US outlet, announced an hour or so ahead of the video, that there was going to be announcement the the Princess of Wales was going to announce her cancer diagnosis. I hope that is false, but the fact she was pressured into revealing her diagnosis is terribly sad.

The palace told the world what was going to happen with Princess Catherine's health schedule and I don't know about JJ and Afua, but I bet they wouldn't have wanted to have their medical records blasted all over the world or had jokes and lies told about them.. Neither of you know anything about our beloved Princess Catherine. You both think you know the reasons for her disclosure being when it was. Yet, Princess Catherine herself, told us why. Processing + Protecting. - you both seem to think Princess Catherine should have told us everything from day one. What you ignored is - Catherine was honest from the onset. She told us she was in hospital, having major surgery, wouldn't be giving updates, would be in for 2 weeks, off work until at least Easter.

They let us know what Catherine wanted us to know. They did not need to respond to theories because none of the media would've believed any response, you would've dissected any response. William and Catherine needed time - to regain strength, the process, to cope, to listen to medical teams and plan treatments, to determine how to tell their children, when to tell them. Their decision on when to tell them must be commended as being pivotal in helping the children cope. Leave them all alone. Stop with the pressure. King Charles III, Duchess Sarah of York and Princess Catherine the Princess of Wales, deserve respect, privacy, healing, love and understanding.
If the Royal Family decided to set up their own Castle Hospital, it would create a bigger divide. As for saying they should use the NHS system in order to be "real folk" to being relatable, is ludicrous. When people can afford Private insurance and use Private hospitals, it means they are lessening the burden on the NHS. If Charles, Sarah, Catherine all went NHS for treatment and surgeries, the folk who can't afford private would be bumped further away. Private patients actually provide money for public patients.

If anything, this is a case study of how the public, or "adults", reacted immaturely to the whole situation. They just couldn't respect the schedule given in the first place & started speculating as soon as it was relayed that she'd be in hospital for about 2 weeks. The photo didn't spark the sick & ridiculous conspiracy theories. They were already being spread by that point. The way the public handled princess Catherine's situation, not our situation, was appalling. The public is at fault here. Not the RF. Everyone needs to grow up & stop being so entitled. Princess Catherine had the BBC do the video of her on the Wednesday prior to its release. She wrote what she was going to say herself - she did not have palace staff, secretaries or speech writers do it for her.

The BBC have confirmed that they took the video. The conspiracy theories have arisen because there are many copies of copies of the BBC video which have been copied at a lower resolution which creates anomalies and distortions. Please contact the BBC if you need absolute proof!

A lawyer on his UA-cam channel has examined the video in 4K, not the poor resolution on UA-cam, and proved it to be genuine. The BBC who filmed it have verified it.
