As a Brit we weren't worried about where Catherine had gone. We were told she would be coming back after Easter, so it wasn't an issue. Even when the photo came out the view was: "So what?" It's a photoshop gone wrong but there was nothing malicious behind it. I hope a lesson can be learned here and all the best to Catherine the Princess of Wales.
Many of us non-Brits were on the same page. My heart is still sore for the innocents that have been affected by the media frenzy. We must all do better, especially those who have a voice.

It's funny how everyone is now blaming the palace. Kensington Palace put out a statement in January that she would undergo surgery and that she wouldn't be seen until AFTER Easter. They also said that if there was anything, they would update the public. The problem wasn't the Palace; the problem was Social Media and the Press and their constant need to be in someone else's business. Now, those people finally realize that when someone asks for privacy, they should have that privacy. Maybe now people will learn to respect people's wishes.
Exactly! I was following everything from the palace, and they were straight as an arrow on everything they released. There was an error with that photo, which was quickly cleared up and apologized for. In the midst of all the chaos there these days, not surprising they had a slip-up. Why must so many people look for intrigue and cover-ups when people are just trying to get on with the difficult job of having a life? SMH

I think in the interest of their own wellbeing, the royal family should all abdicate and the British monarchy should be disbanded. In return for a life of state power and untold riches, they are kept in a guilded cage and are treated like public property. They could abdicate, still live a life of material wealth, and move to Dubai where the paparazzi are banned. Britons, meanwhile, would finally be able to elect their own head of state and move on from this feudal relic.

Sunny is very vocal about online Twitter trolls that harass her, yet she couldn't even muster up a genuine apology for perpetuating the conspiracy theories around Kate? She was downright gleeful about obsessing over the Mother's Day photo, scrutinizing paparazzi photos, etc. Sara's apology was lukewarm, but at least she took accountability. Sunny passed the blame. Like, how hard would it have been to just say you're sorry and offer some well wishes?

Some people thank Alyssa for apologizing, Sara did not apologized either. They felt bad or guilty or ashamed but NO ONE said those words. NO ONE DID. I tweeted the View the same day they were making fun of Catherine, saying they needed to apologize on air, this was before the diagnosis. They should have felt guilty before the diagnosis. Catherine was recovering from a serious surgery BUT they still kept bullying her....
Sara took no responsibility, she blamed everyone else. She's behaved disgracefully in this situation.

Sunny was the harshest and loudest one talking about body doubles and conspiracy theories. Yet she didn't even apologize and she went on blaming Sarah and trying to turn it into a joke.
I don't know why people were piling on to the Kate conspiracy train. She had major surgery and the Royal family PR clearly stated that. Usually if there's silence after a major surgery, it's clear that something is wrong, which is why Kate's announcement was not a shock. Cancer and other complications are not that rare for a woman in her 40s.
The panel (aside from Whoopi) should have known better considering they are all women over 40 and know about health issues that many women face.
I agree with you @coolbreeze5683. I was stunned when Sunny was yapping about body doubles, but then assumed maybe in USA that’s what happens so naturally they assumed it happens here. The frenzy that followed is shocking and I may be wrong, but it seemed to me that a lot of the conspiracies were coming from overseas. If Sunny and others want to look at how Meghan was treated that’s absolutely fine. How Kate was treated is also bad and that needs to be explored. I’ve never seen anything like it. The Palace were clear as you rightly pointed out, major surgery, will be off duty till Easter. Not sure what everyone misunderstood. Or what was so difficult. Somehow that meant she was in a coma, body doubles parading around Windsor Farm Shop, William is having affair, celebrities just mocking Kate. I tuned in to see if Sunny would say she was sorry, but no.
Anyway, enough about Sunny. Catherine, like many millions worldwide is dealing with cancer and I wish her and others a good recovery.
I cannot even tune into the view anymore, how sad to see a group of women pile on to another woman, even if she's privileged. Catherine, the Princess of Wales is a very lovely and caring human being. God bless Catherine and I hope for her a healthy and speedy recovery❤️💞
So why were the pics doctored and why did they feel a need for a body double? So sorry for her diagnosis but the PR did a lousy job and hence the reason for all those speculations.

Sunny makes me sick...plain and simple. Her body language during this segment was so snooty and dismissive. When it finally gets to her moment to speak and just be an adult and say she messed up and she was sorry, she instead chooses to play the blame game. I give Whoopi so much praise for being the voice of reason from the start of this whole mess. Alyssa's words i felt were appropriate and appreciated. As for the others they should all be ashamed of themselves. As public figures themselves they should know better.

This seems to be the fall back... the palace did a terrible job in their PR, so any wild speculation is justified. Such a cop-out! Kensington Palace has traditionally not released ANY medical information on the royal family. No one has a right to someone else's personal health data, public figure or not. The sense of entitlement and lack of personal accountability from the public and the media has been staggering. We are not sheep.

Sunny was so concerned about Meghan’s mental health but wasn’t about Princess Kate’s mental health because of all of these conspiracy theories of which she contributed to. More widespread dislike of Meghan came after she left the UK and said things in interviews and either or Harry backtracked on later as well as doing things like keeping Royal Ducal titles & using them for their children (despite other royals like Anne actively not giving their children titles).

It was really disappointing to see Sarah and Sunny make such a big deal out of this in the previous shows, ceaselessly and repeatedly giving in to the conspiracy theories, and mindless rumors, none of which had any credibility. They too became part of the media toxicity which added fuel to the fire and basically bullied Princess Catherine into revealing a much private and sensitive matter. Kudos to Alyssa for admitting her fault tho. It didn’t make her smaller.

I am SO proud of Whoopi for having a moral compass. She refused to get into the pigsty with everyone else. She chose to show compassion and kindness amidst the noise.

I just listened to the notifications from the palace and Catherine herself, and they were all perfectly sane explanations for everything that was happening.

I appreciate that Alyssa and Ana acknowledged joking about Kate and the conspiracy theories were inappropriate. It takes a lot of maturity to acknowledge when you handle something incorrectly. Over the last few months Sara words have become increasingly more distasteful and harmful. I’m grossed out by her inability to take responsibility for her gleeful reactions last week to the conspiracy theory. Sunny also should be able to take responsibility for her takes last week. It’s ridiculous.

Another Canadian here. People took the wild speculations and conspiracy theories of social media trolls over the understated information shared by those closest to the facts. Kensington Palace prioritized the needs of a young family in crisis over a hysterical mob, and are blameless, IMHO. Humans are gifted with an amazing organ, the prefrontal cortex. It is the seat of logic and reasoning, and it will be phenomenal when we learn how to use it.

Regardless of how the PR handled this situation, social media is relentless. You had to hear from her that she has cancer to stop talking about her. Give her her privacy. It's not a laughing matter.
And people are shallow. The mob mentality that overcame this issue is terrifying. Blaming Kensington Palace for it is a complete abdication of accountability. They were balancing the needs of a family in crisis against a frenzied horde, and they did it in their usual understated, reliable way. No one is entitled to the private medical information of another person, public figure or not. Catherine has been a model wife, mother and future queen since day one. She has given the world everything we have wanted and expected of her. Is this how we repay her? SMH
Some of their comments last week bordered on bullying, which was interesting because the next day they had a segment on bullying. Chief bullyer tends to be Sunny, who always has a lot to say about the subject but doesn't see it in herself. I was truly dismayed and disappointed in all of them, barring Whoopi, for all their comments and speculations. With or without the cancer diagnosis, Princess Catherine was recuperating from a serious surgery.
My thoughts exactly. I was horrified as they were climbing over each other with their speculations and conspiracy theories. Even with the limited information we had, it was clear the young family was struggling with multiple health issues. It seems patience and compassion are bygone attributes. I think I'll go back to reading...

Exactly! And they (the media) treated EVERY female newcomer to the family in the same way. None more so than Diana. Most of Harry’s ex-girlfriends dumped him because they couldn’t stand the constant scrutiny/intrusion. Sara has a friend who recovered from cancer. Michael Strachan daughter is still on treatment for cancer that's her friend's daughter yet she was ok bullying another woman. I now understand why people hate the view

Alyssa admitted it BUT blamed the Palace for mismanaging the PR so she too tried to shift some blame. It was all of them the NASTY comments came out of their mouths & none of them took the full credit & NONE of them said the words " I OPOLOGIZE".
Thank you for addressing the Princess Catherine situation with compassion and regret. Princess Catherine’s announcement was made with grace and dignity and without any at all judgement to those who were not so kind to her. She is a wonderful role model for us all.

Attacking a mother with a cancer diagnosis who is only trying to protect her young children is not a joking matter. Also, "being remorseful" is exactly the kind of thing a defense lawyer tells you to say to the judge before he sentences you, in order garner sympathy from the court. On the heels of that pathetic joke, it all felt disingenuous to me, and only designed to avoid her responsibility, which she never acknowledged.

Actually Whoopi was playing defense and giving excuses for the family's weird behavior. It wasn't just "playing" with photography. The other women were more right than Whoopi. Now they're twisting themselves as somehow she's this sage when she was completely wrong.

It doesn’t matter who the person is- famous or not- all souls deserve compassion. You would want that compassion for yourself.
Even taking the cancer out of it, this is still nasty, she was having major medical issues that required surgery so we did know what was happeneing to her in that regard and people still chose to ridicule her in the most awful way. Sunny and Sara suck
The palace announced she would be back working, after Easter (this was announced before the cancer diagnosis) The media decided to ignore that statement. Major abdominal surgery can require some time to recover.

8 weeks recovery is what she asked for and we just couldn't give it to her.
Allysa was the only one which owned her actions. The other 3 are nothing but excuses.
She's of our generation, that's why.
Ana made a sincere and valiant effort, I thought. Alyssa was spot on. The most genuine apology I've heard in all the media so far.
Im a cancer surviver and after 13 weeks of radiation im grateful kate we wisgh u all the well in u treatments.
