This is the 3rd time I've heard this song and it grows on you. Sounds like their album "Load".
I think this is the first video I have seen that shows your baby tummy! Congrats! I know you have talked about it on your blog, but I have never seen it in a reaction video.
If I heard this first as an instrumental, the sound of kirks guitar during a solo would give them away.
I think you guys will enjoy the "Some Kind of Monster" documentary movie about Metallica, you should watch it it's very real and raw, they expose their lives and their "drama" to the cameras while making the "St Anger" record.
That movie almost made me hate my favorite band lol. They were such whiny a-holes in that embarrassment. And it culminated in the worst album in their career. If they hadn't done Death Magnetic next, I might have been mad at them forever 😂
I miss those "Fade to black" "Until sleeps" "Nothing else matters" kind of vibes. I don't think they will ever create this kind of music again. I dare to say, they just want to go on for the fast pace with their songs. Who knows? The good thing about Metallica is they do it their own way always. Bleeding me is in my top 3. I have no idea why people hated load and reload. I loved their heavy shit and load lol. Hard rock is just as good as metal. WAs weird times people felt you could only like metal at one point lol.

U gotta understand that in 1996/1997... radio and MTV was inundated w/ crappy bands like Presidents of the USA, and The Nixons... and we wanted our bands to deliver metal, not subjugate themselves to what was popular to make a $$$ paycheck!
All of a sudden, Metallica cut their hair, look like f---ing Pearl Jam and sound like Oasis... it was beyond disappointing.
What was worse was coming up w/ a half-baked turd like 'St. Anger' and claiming it was a "return to Kill'em all"... when it sounded worse than early demos by Mayhem...
And this is coming from a guy (me) who was a fan of Bush (the band) and Soundgarden.

It’s funny, the older they get the more they sound like hard rock than heavy metal. Not a complaint by any means, I love it.
I feel like most metal doesn't have as much distinction as it once did in general. People in general accept harder music as the norm.
These guys are forever, I remember when I bought my first album in the 80s .

Their own genre and is also like Rush in that sense and the way she said they keep to themselves when NOT being Metallica. Just down to earth modest people that can rock harder and longer than anyone.

Are they not releasing physical copies for the singles? The cool thing about them is that the b sides to singles were often cover songs by bands like Diamond Head, Blitzkrieg, Anti Nowhere League etc.
The two new songs released from the new album sound fine to me, lets not forget their not in their 20's and 30's anymore.

They had a bit of a scandal when they slowed down for Load/ReLoad. They also had a scandal when they sued Napster as people were getting their music for free from sharing

Funny how Lex sounds just like James Hetfield singing. lol. He does do that thing with his vocals. Semi-yodeling. Brad is right, too. Metallica stands out easily with their music. Was this on the livestream for Lex pitch? I missed it that night.
This is similar to their hard rock, metal lite stuff that they were putting out during the '90s. Similar to Thin Lizzy. Not too bad.
Wasn't always smooth for Metallica. Don't forget the early 2000s ordeal with Lars Ulrich, the drummer. Turn off a lot of people with the Napster lawsuit.
Metallica has definitely had their share of drama they just seem to work through it better than most other bands do, for the sake of their art.

Metallica - wow. These first two tracks released from upcoming album - best music they've made in 2 decades! For real, this song kicks ass. Hows old school Kill Em All kinda sound mixed with much later sounding Metallica for a nice modern sound and mix of the different eras of their music/craft.
Looking fwd to their album. Will be the first album of theirs I buy since the "black" Metallica Album from 91.
I would love to see this on this tour this year, but sadly the closest their coming to me is about 350 miles away.

BUT, if you ever bring it back may I suggest that you do a re-listen of songs that you guys may actually like now that your tuned more to the sound of shredding guitars and screaming vocals? A Re-listen stream to see if you like earlier songs from the early days of the channel better the second time around.
The more I listen to this song, the more I like it. Still not quite as much as I like the first four albums, but this is still a rocking song. 😎

Sounds like a Stoner Rock turn for Metallica that they should've taken during their _Load/Reload_ years, instead of the mess they released in the mid 90s - they would've been considered so much cooler if they did this then. Oh well, one more nail in the coffin for any expectation that they'll attempt a thrash song ever again.
Metallica on Hardwired and so far on this new one have seemed to figure out how to do new, middle, and old style "Metallica " songs on an album....modernized old school.
I’ll be honest I didn’t care for too many of their albums after load but I kind of like this one so far sounds decent , like to me, some kind of monster was the worst thing they ever put out, but this one’s pretty good

I wish they let Robert play bass in more of a style like he did in Suicidal Tendencies.
Metallica has never had that 'funk' style bass that Suicidal Tendencies had... Robert would have been more productive musically in Megadeth, which was built on David Ellefson's bass grooves.

@@sumonjamal1653 He doesn't work in Metallica. Megadeth is just a more advanced version of Metallica. Same style, same basic ingredients. Rob being in Metallica is like hiring a Nascar driver to be an Uber driver - he's not utilizing his best attributes.
@@hmpz36911 I don't disagree w/ the "driver" bit... But Megadeth is hardly anything like Metallica... Metallica is basically Motorhead meets Diamond Head... Slayer is closer to them musically.
Megadeth is much more technical and the bass is more prominent ("Peace sells" is a perfect example) and even their more commercial songs have more edge & groove, while Metallica literally went country and alternative rock in the 90s'.
Robert Trujillo also recorded w/ Ozzy and those tracks were loaded w/ his grooves... A Jerry Cantrell solo album 'Degradation trip'... they utilized Robert's talent for sure.
They don't have to be like ST or Red Hot Chili Peppers to use the bass... c'mon!
Ironically the bass player used to be in Suicidal Tendencies.
Why is that ironic? Lots of musicians have played in multiple bands. You forgot to mention that he also played in Ozzy's band, Jerry Cantrell's band, Infectious Grooves, Mass Mental, and even Black Label Society.

metallica did have a meltdown in the early 2000s when their fast metal lifestyle and unchecked demons caught up with them. Jason bolted and james spirled out of control and ended up in rehab....a struggle he still deals with - and it the source of much of their lyrics in the last 15 years

Metallica seems more like they took a step down rather modernize...they started as a Thrash band and now skimmed down to a Heavy Metal Rock band. I'm sure age has to do with it.

It does have some load/reload vibes. But also a little death magnetic mixed with black album. A strong song not as good as LUX
Doing anything for 40+ years, you are bound to make some changes along the way... Or you are just not putting any effort into it. Metallica didn't just try to do another "Master of Puppets" for the last 35 years. And it is largely due to the evolution of their sound that they were able to stay relative when all the other old school metal bands faded away...
