the title seems misleading! 2021 Ferrari PU and all they explained was 2014 PU
Bold of you to assume they've made any major changes lol
Still no changes yet
@@pixelboujee my tractor is better
@@pixelboujee Apparently they’ve stopped cheating with the engine.
@@angrydoggy9170 well Sainz is P2 so its working fine whatever it is
Title is wrong. It's a closer look into 2014 engine.
Edit: they changed the title. but just know they're talking about 2014 engine.
Yeah I was so confused about that.
i think its the same engine details anyways.
it probably hasnt changed since then lol.
Yeah I am confused aswell
Now you know why they’re looking at the 2014 engine. Or don’t you?
Craig starts speaking
Sam : **heavy nodding**
i'll like your comment because you have boyle's face in a very peculiar event :)
😂
Sam glancing and nodding at the camera when Craig speaks is just hilarious 😂
It’s always my favourite part of tech talks
2:30 lol
He is very blue Peter / CBeebies, I’ve said it before but been called racist because of it.
12:41 😂
@@phoenix-_-1983 The F1 community call any slightest ounce of criticism towards Lewis racism, so I’m sadly not surprised
Bait-and-Switch with the title, guys. Not a peep about 2021 engine upgrades..
Did they change the title or something?
I don't think the title said "Engine Upgrades". Nearly a clickbait, but not. Well, every title has some sort of 'clickbait' or else it will be dull. This one almost got to its full extent (aka clickbait for most of us). If it said 2014 engine no one would even bother watching. 2021 power units are (i believe) the same since 2014.
Please never ever stop this content with little dumbing down. Perfect level of technicality
It's still pretty dumbed down lol
there is a lot of dumbing down tho. this is the most u can sell to the layman.
@@tonytontony1 Well this is the f1 channel not an engineering channel
How *not* to build a power unit, with Sam and Craig.
Should have the best home built road car
Lol, yeah, that would be a more appropriate title, i cant believe with all the resources Ferrari had still managed to build a PU this flawed.
Braking news: Ferrari to use 2014 engines for the rest of the season
Ferrari Master🅱lan confirmed!
Braking News! I see what you did there!
"A Closer Look At The 2021 Ferrari Power Unit"
' _shows and talks 2014 power unit_ ' ...
Come on FORMULA 1, you don't need to clickbait us... 🙄
Yes, that was irritating.
I legitimately got clickbaited by the official F1 channel...
yup the title even suggested they're talking about newest upgrade that ferrari brought to russia on Leclercs's car
the video itself was still really interesting, doesn't matter it's 2014 PU. didn't need that clickbait at all
How Alonso managed to perform so well in a car full of flaws is beyond me
Fernando was there in agood times what are u talking about this was 2014.
@@gabipepe2430 yeah he almost won hungary in this car
I remember him dragging his Mclaren into the pits at Baku 2018 with 2 tires left and half the floor missing and he went on to take 7th in that race, even in the shitbox that Mclaren-Honda was. Wringing performance out of flawed cars is his specialty.
That was the Ferrari F2012, how he managed to be a title contender with that tractor I have no idea.
@@Xepharyx that year mclaren had renault engines though, but still the car was a shitbox anyway just like you said, so yeah, it was remarkable.
Did whoever titled this not watch the video?
mercedes engineers watching this like a benny hill show with a basket of popcorn friday night.
Despite the misleading title, I watch tech talks because of the nerd content, so keep it coming.
Me too, i really like it
Wait I don't understand. Ferrari will use 2014 engine in 2021?
Yes, they upgraded it..
I came here to get insights into the ferrari engine upgrades in sochi. What I got was irrelevant insights into a poorly designed (compared to the competition) and completely outdated 2014 Ferrari engine. Dislike because of Clickbait.
This means an old Diesel concept now increases the efficiency of Otto engines...
Mazda went even further with their "Diesotto" aka SkyactivX.
That has been the trend for Otto engines since early 2000s, to incorporate technologies from other engine cycles to improve efficiency. Thanks to advancements in materials, chemistry and electronics that continues to be possible.
While these engines are cool I still really miss the v10 sound. Or even blown diffuser v8 Era was amazing.
First time actually seeing Ferrari Hybrid engine.........damm
Also the split turbo is an AMAZING IDEA why ferrari why???
video is mostly about 2014 engine i feel

They proceed to look closer at the 2014 PU for the duration of the video.
Ferrari hiding their power units.
Mercedes Renault Honda: I don't even think about you
Whom does Renault supply to?
@@mrahaman0307 alpine
@@gofurmia6997 (Removes blue and red mask) It was that yellow French guy all along.(shocked Pikachu face)
teams can get "inspiration" from anything... I remember teams copying certain aero parts from the williams which was last at that time and slowest
@@Jackinacox It was a reference to the fact that Renault suppling alpine is just Renault supplying Renault, as alpine is just a marketing ploy by Renault. sorry for any confusion
Ok that's cool but where's the 2021 power unit advertised in the title?..
Mercedes had a full 12 mnths plus development ahead of everyone else.
Funny how they had incredible reliability..
You should do an in-depth series about engines from previous Formula 1 eras!
Great, been looking forward to seeing this.
I'm feeling so proud of myself because I can understand what are they saying....thanks f1 for tech talks🙏🙏
What are they doing with a tractor engine?????!!!
Our tractor has a water to air intercooler, not that rare
i'm sure it's just the same...
Personally I find that the more plumbing an engine has the sexyer it is. This ferrari power unit is not elegant but boy does it have character
Pre chamber ignition is ingenious and it should come to road cars as soon as possible.
Ferrari 3.9-Liter V8 Wins International Engine Of The Year Award ... Ferrari also won an award for its 6.5-liter V12 in the 812 Superfast ... This is the third year Ferrari’s 3.9-liter engine won the award, bringing home an additional five awards this year. Since the award started 20 years ago, Ferrari has won a total of 27 trophies. That's Where Ferrari's Focus Is At The Moment on Their Street Cars ... settle down Merc Children
Why spend not use the technology then for the formula 1 Engine? Because Ferrari can't compete with the sweet German engineering haha go away you fool.
As explained by Jason from Engineering Explained, the reason why we don't have pre-ignition on our road cars is that catalytic converters hate the lean mixture to get up to temperature for them to work. Race cars don't need to worry about emissions.
Enter the Maserati MC20........🤷♂️
I remember being astonished how slow the Ferrari was at Melbourne in 2014.
Pre chamber ignition was on the Honda CVCC road car in the 1970’s.
I kind of liked when sam was alone
Great vid guys. Can you please do one on the Honda, Mercedes and Renault PUs from pits pics to show comparisons?
Cheers. Si, Christchurch, New Zealand
They should stop with this "heat coming from the turbine hurting the compressor". Turbine is water cooled, heat transfer is minimal. Especially once Ferrari accepted insulated exhaust brings more benefits, than a tad tigher bodywork. And, to my knowledge, in 2014 it was the only turbo without failure during the race. Kudos to guys who made it.
“It’s kind of a nerdy thing”
Sam: Nods directly at us
Clickbait much?
Love your enthusiasm Sam! 😂❤️
Really nice vidéo and i love the explanation about the prechamber combustion wich is right for me as a mecanic during 26 years for Honda.. Honda introduce this system of prechamber for fuel economy in America on the Civic CVCC 1500cc engine from 1975 to 1979..At this time it meaned: Compound Vortex Control Combustion.. Excuse my english...
Pre chamber ignition 30% fuel efficiency wow, really well explained also.
"Ferrari - an engine manufacturer that strapped race cars to them" lol
The header is misleading. This is about the 2014 engine
I always enjoy these vids! Thanks for the breakdown. 👍🏻👏🏻
The best part was when they showed the 2021 power unit
I hope Charles doesn't have problems with this 2021 unit
He had, they have detuned it
I like Sam's reactions when he's listening. It shows he's paying attention. As you all should be.
I think it is amazing that even in F1, engineers have trouble with engines and parts.
You have to experiment to find what works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't work
Mercedes installs upgrades, RedBull installs upgrades... Noone cares... Ferrari P4 in the Championship: Lets dissect this...
Is that why merc is always telling Lewis to keep the rpm up so they don’t hurt the engine with the pre ignition?
Please, more content like his. I am loving it!
Sam Collins is my hero. He is my ballistic shield.
7:08 Is this the same problem that Haas have had with their more recent cars?
Thumbs down for wrong title. Only 2014 Power unit
Hmm.... I was listening to this while doing my work... I thought Michael McIntyre was speaking, lol! Sam Collins do sound like him.
Mercedes engineers are watching this while absolutely laughing
Tina bot stole your comment
@@Maazin5 IK. pretty sad these bots even exist and youtube doing nothing.
Nope, they take seriously
Nice Sam but I prefer your insights into the underbody just for the opportunity to hear you say "sticky uppy bits".
you have never seen this power unit before, but you did at the manor auction ?
Win on Sunday sell on Monday sounds ambiguous for those constructors with power unit of another constructor.
If we don’t get the “sticky uppy bits” tradition from Sam, we get the traditional nodding from him instead
From 2015 explains why Sebastian Vettel was unhappy with Ferrari....
2021? This is clearly the 2014 version.
Craig looks and sounds like Phil Collins, it would only be appropriate if Craig and Sam exchanged their names.
Ferrai went for a wronge approch, they should stuck to old school , first the engine then then chassis , like the merc, because later on it's easy to change the chassis but engine changes are complicated.
Marsi will pull another Spa today on Sotchi.
Great content, as usual from Sam and Scarbs. Misleading video title, though.
2022 be like: flying mazepin
The teams really missing an opportunity not showing more of the car tech.
How about a video on the fuel quantities used through the ages of F1?
11:10 they started using -pre chamber ignition- *oil burning* giving them a substantial power advantage*
If enyone is interested the upgrade on Ferrari's engine in Russia gives an extra 10 bhp.
Full episode is not there when they say it is
0:25 aka "take a Lance".
SMASHED IT AGAIN BOYS 😀😊😆😀😊😆 TECH TALK F1 RULES HAHA !!!
Anyone know any decent books on engines?

remember this time Ferrari get rid of slow button replace with fast button..
when i woke up today i didnt expect to be lied by formula 1 youtube channel. this title is misleading
No sticky uppy bits on the power unit? I just came here for that
alonso : this is gen1 gp2 engine
Alright, Im gonna say it. I really adore the anteater look of the 2014 Ferrari
Personally I prefer the SF15-T but I totally get you
more like vacum cleaner
2014 Ferrari power unit, not 2021, so that's clickbait
They used pre-chambers in diesel engines to reduce noise. This was bad for fuel consumption.
Now they're going to use a similar concept in gasoline engines in road cars to improve fuel consumption?
The difference is that only a small portion of the total fuel charge is injected into the prechamber in the F1 engine. The turbulent jets of flame that come out of the prechamber are hundreds of times more energetic than a spark and allow use of lean mixtures without misfires. That is where the high efficiency comes from.
That 2014 Ferrari front wing looks so atrocious
Investing in crypto now should be in every wise individuals list, in some months time you'll be ecstatic with the decision you made today.

I’m sorry but I thought that this was going to be about Ferrari’s 2021 upgrades, not a look back at a 7yr old engine.
ESPN isn't airing F1. Please drop that junk network and contract a real broadcaster for USA F1!
Ferrari 2014 had just 2 podiums btw
Soooo a look at *A* Ferrari Power Unit from the previous decade
Still interesting but not a fan of the clickbaity title.
Some years later (in 2028 we will talk about 2021 Ferrari power unit) to be continued...😆😆😆
Can we see the 2019 Ferrari engine?? Just asking for a friend :)
Does anyone know what Merc spent their two tokens on this year? I wonder if there will be a new engine spec coming for Lewis' next engine utilizing the token spend?
I think they spent both of the tokens on the floor of the car because at the presentation of the car they said that they made important underfloor changes which they couldn't show
