    Thank you 😊 it is very helpful and useful lesson. #1 If I had more free time, I would travel around the world.
    #2 nobody is perfect, we are all human beings and it can happen with anyone. It is useless to regret what cannot be changed, we need to focus more on what can be done better now.

    It is indeed a great lesson. I am highly benefitted from this lesson.1) If I had a plenty of free time, I would probably use this time to learn a different sets of skills, which are highly required for academic growth in the future. 2) If my friend made a huge mistake at work, I would help him to correct this mistake if possible, otherwise I would suggest him to remain calm and compose and never repeat this mistake in future anymore.

    Thank you Annemarie. I just have had written and speaking exam this week. My english teacher appreciate american english but unfortunately british influence affects my english. To answer your exercise "If I were you, I would create and share a video about analysis of written text or material". As an example press article, marketing presentation and so on. I'm an IT student and was daily in contact with journalist and marketing students too. It could be useful, your presentations are often very helpful.

    Hi Annemarie, your explanation on the second conditional was super clear and extremely interesting. Way to go !!
    In your example sentence "If I were you, I would tell them we cannot negotiate on the costs".
    Would it be possible if I used the word "could not" instead of "cannot" in the sentence (consistency in the past tense)?
    If possible, is there any subtle difference in meaning?
    I would appreciate your prompt reply. Thanks so much.

    Hi Annemarie! Great video, really making me think in a more practical way about these conditionals. Did I get right, that for negotiations we might use first conditional if we want to give an option or an opportunity for a counterparty, and using second is for showing that this opportunity is inappropriate for us?

    • @Speakconfidentenglish
      @Speakconfidentenglish  Рік тому

      Hi Anastasia, thank you for the question. And yes, we could certainly use the conditionals in that way.

      Thanks for the question. We certainly could. For example "could" is the past form of "can." So I might have a conditional such as, "If I could go on vacation tomorrow, I would go to the beach."
