This Year Marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day. We honored those who came before and set the standard for us to follow. #armyranger #dday80 #rltw #75thrangerregiment

My Great Uncle Johnie was a Ranger storming the beach on D-Day, Johnathan Boylan, a 6'8 Ranger, He made it home unscathed physically, but Mentally he relived the day until his death.
Because he had already fought in Sicily, my father drove the 3rd tank onto Omaha beach on D-day. Being the tip of the spear was hell on earth. He said that they were delayed by 3 hours from driving onto the beach cause they collectively refused orders to drive over the dead American soldiers that littered the beach. He also added that without Russia, we'd all be speaking German. Yet whenever anyone acknowledged his efforts, he'd always say that the real hero's never made it home.
"We'd all be speaking German?" Germany was never a remotely credible threat to the United States. They didn't even have the naval capacity to cross the 30 mile English Channel and attempt an invasion (even Hitler knew Operation Sealion was a dead duck), there was no way in hell they could cross the Atlantic and attempt any kind of serious military action against the US. Where would they have used as a staging area? Germany had no colonies or close allies that were in close proximity to the US (e.g. Cuba). Germany should've learned after WW1 how important the navy is and that being a land and air power isn't enough. They lost WW1 because the UK Royal Navy blockaded them and starved them into submission, they couldn't compete, it wasn't lost in the trenches (contrary to what many people think), but Hitler himself was delusional enough to think Germany lost because of backstabbing Jews (apparently the fact that 18,000 German Jews were awarded the Iron Cross for bravery and 12,000 were KIA didn't convince him of their loyalty to their country). Hitler declared war on the US (one of his many blunders) as a gesture of good will towards Japan, he hoped Japan would invade the Soviet Union from the East and give them a two front war of their own, but Japan wasn't in the position to do that. Japan was running on borrowed time before Pearl Harbor.
Semper fi Rangers, as a Recon Marine we look up to these brave special operators. The rest of the Marine corps compare themselves to Rangers because of the ego that is instilled in you by the DI but we know we are not on the their level.
The Army's 5th and 6th Ranger Battalions , scaling the cliffs of Pointe Du Hoc, had help, from Marines of 1st Marine Division ( First MARDIV) , Who taught the Army ( and attached Navy and Coast Guard elements) Amphibious Operations, that were executed excellently ,at Normandy, France, on Tuesday 06 June 1944AD , in , " Operation Overlord" . MARINES, because even Army Rangers need Heroes!! 🇺🇸🇺🇲🪖🎖️🦅🌎⚓😈🐶💣💥🔥🇺🇸🇺🇲‼️
One of my few regrets in life is not having tryout for Ranger Batt and sticking with the 82nd during my two tours as a grunt. Don’t get me wrong. I love my eighty dudes but I’ve always had mad respect for the rangers!!!
Man my Dad was in Regiment back in the 80s and from what I'm told he was a badass Ranger. I want to follow in his footsteps but I'm scared as shit any tips?
If Omaha beach would have been hold 30min longer, the invasion would have been stopped, Six months later the bombing sorties of the USAAF would have ended... on D day alone, the US airborne units murdered 15.000 french Civilians who resist the allied landing and or did not cooperate. // An invasion of mainland Japan was never an option, already the landing on Iwojima was an over stretch of of American resources. The two nukes dropped on Japan did nothing to end the war. The Soviet Invasion of Northern Japan did, because Japan did not want ended split in two like Germany. ... But I guess facts do not make Hollywood movies, so keep dreaming WW2 was a victory, because every war after was a loss for sure. US war crimes, unforgotten and unforgiven.
This team needs to make recruiting videos for the Army. Good stuff! RLTW
Yeah not Emma 😂
My son is in the last few clips on the plane! We are so very proud of him. He said it was an experience of a lifetime; one he will never forget.
🙏
I wish I was there....My Grandfather did that jump in Normandy.
The Rangers that stormed the cliffs that day are hard as woodpecker lips! May they always be remembered as true heroes.
May their souls rest in peace, Not only the Americans who died but to everyone who lost the lives.
Rest in peace for all those who lost their lives on D Day, they’re sacrifice was for an incredible cause.

We should’ve never been involved in WW2

And tragically, we sit on the eve of WW3.
