- Tesla Model 3 Matrix Headlights performance test (better than 2024 Highland!)
Tesla has finally released a software update (2024.8) that enables the LED Matrix headlight's long beam function.
Matrix functionality creates shadows in the high beam to not blind both traffic in front of you or incoming traffic by dimming the individual pixels in the Matrix lens. Doing so increases traffic safety, helping the driver see further while not blinding other drivers.
Comparing the LED Headlights unit on the legacy 2021 Refresh Tesla Model 3 with lens and the new 2024 Tesla Model 3 Highland with projectors. The 2021 Model 3 with lens has higher pixel density creating finer shadow.

Very impressive for Tesla. I cannot wait until they enable this in the US for my MSP. I've had them enabled on my S580 MB and there incredible, love a good matrix light
The previously updated adaptive headlights worked fine at low speeds in urban areas, but the actual effect was very poor on the highway. Under normal circumstances, the high beam tangent of the ADB headlights should be at the rear of the vehicle in front. However, the beam tangent of Tesla's adaptive headlights during driving is at a far distance from the vehicle in front, leaving a large black area in front that cannot be seen, which may lead to serious accidents on the highway.
Thanks for the review, the lights don't seem as fluid and not as quick to respond as other matrix lights, but I assume they could get better with updates.
Impressive review. I have the 2023 model 3P’. Does my headlights has the matrix headlight unit?
Love this, does it work on a MYP 24?!
Yes
@@JRCarReviews very cool! Thanks for the response. How do I enable it? In the All I see in the UI is the high beams auto-on and off feature.
Great review, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
This is in the US? I just ordered a highland
I filmed this in Croatia on my 2021 Model 3 but Highlighted should have this in USA as well now.
I don't have it in my highland. I have the adaptive headlight option but it doesn't do this feature at all..
Great test, I have a 2021 model 3 performance in Mexico with the matrix headlights but the function is not yet active :( I have the 2024.8.7 update
It is not available for cars outside Europe, Asia and Australia. N. American market is excluded. Probably due to USA regulations.
How is it in comparison with Skoda matrix lights?
I would say pretty close.
I have the 2024.8.9 updated on my pre-facelift but updated (with matrix light) M3LR in Australia but nothing on this new feature... any idea why that could be?
IDK I thought Australia got the Matrix function. Is your auto high beam on?
@@JRCarReviews yeah auto high beam is on... hopefully comes with the next update
It doesn’t work till 2024.14.8 in Australia. (Well that’s when it started worked in my 2021 M3 LR)
😍😍
Not available in AU alas
Finally!!!!
In Highland looks better
