thanks a lot!

we appreciate your kind words john! Thank you so much

Hell yeah brother!
@@DutchBushcraftKnives thank you for the comedy relief. I watch everything you guys post, and I’ve never not laughed from one of them. Favorite knifetubers. You guys are fantastic.
For the price of one new Mora you can get Skrama 240 and Skrama 80 or Jääkäripuukko, it wouldn't be a difficult choice.
Much agreed!
Those are pretty ugly compared to these though. Looks are important. Especially in outdoor shops which is what these are aimed at.
@@tor2919 yeah but they don't justify charging 180$ more for the same knife with a nicer handle.
My opinion is that there's nothing these blades can do that most other Moras I already own can't do just as well. I haven't used one, and can't comment on how they function, but I feel confident saying that the materials are "budget" materials, with a semi-custom price. 5/10 is kind, in my opinion, and I know I won't be buying these blades.
Morakniv, I'm a fan, not a martyr.
These ones look pretty.
Spot on POW, bruh! Ibthink alike! Won't buy one!
Dont gwt me wrong, I love mora but.. The whole point of mora is the price, i never even went near the garberg because its not moras fashion, i usually just buy blade blanks and make my own handles
@@a.i.a3949 Any other Mora knife, is better than the Garberg. Worst handle, worst blade design of all their models. Unfortunately Mora, has turned into a company with their marketing targeting how to make more money easily, rather than how to make more money, by providing a good quality and perfectly designed product, as they used to do in the past. That's greediness and it's the only thing I hate in my life. I'm sad that this company, has turned 180 degrees on the wrong direction, and I''ve already stopped getting Moras, since they produced the Garberg.
@Greek Veteran Yeah agreed Allthough i actually dislike the mora 200/kansbol blade shape more than the garberg, they break so damn easily, as for the garberg or big survival knives or full external tang knifes its just not their style, like kbar dont make a traditonal pukkos (to my knowledge) they stick to what they're good at and mora should do the same, which is manufacturing the most cost efficient while still usable pukko style blades.
Allthough admittedly these days i tend to buy blade blanks from laurin metali (the guys who make the blades for the terava jaukariupukko (cant remember how its spelt) the heat treatment and steel quality seems to hold up slightly better from my experience than mora.
I eat through carbon mora no. 2 blades within about 2-3 years if im using and resharpening them often, i have the same mora no 2 handle i started with years ago but on the 3rd blade now. Old blades are still usable and in new handles for gifts to friends but they dont hold a good edge as its been sharpened down to the core.
I heard a pretty annoying problem with the cooking knife is that when food inevitably gets in the screw holes, it's not that easy to wash it out and the water stays in there and damages the wood. Pretty big flaw for a $200+ cooking knife
Thats why you clean it and dry it..what do you just wash and throw them into the drawer...its its really really easy and you start learning it at a young age when you and a sibling are on fishes duty..shit you can even use air blowers if you want to be really careful but usually it only takes the 4 corners of a dish towel 🤣😂🤣😅ffs man
No one is going to pay $200+ US for these knives!
And $200 USD (at the time I type this) is about $250 CND. Imagine paying that for a "recycled stainless" blade with ash wood handles... Riiight.
Basic steel, basic wood (ash wood costs 57 Euros for 1m3)... :/
Damn right,i do love my mora kansbol except for this 200 knife, i'll back away from it like a plague!
says the guy who can't afford it . trust me there is a buyer for everything
for the cheap mora !!!!!😄
I just discovered that both my (late grandfather's) old belt knifes are super old Erik Frost Mora puukkos... gotta be 50+ years old.
thats awesome! I think morakniv has a lot of archives to find the name of the old models and when and where they were made
Yeah, I did exactly what Mikkie suggested a few weeks ago and got an F1 in cos for 185€ which is still cheaper than most new moras. Remember when Fallkniven was considered overpriced? And now it is a better budget option to Mora. Times are wild.
Fallkniven doesn’t compete with these though. F1 looks like a tactical knife and most outdoor people are put off by that.
Once again DBK proves being the best knives channel on YT. Greetings from Argentina
I saw them at the DKE and was just about to buy this set because Mora has always a good pricing.
Oh was i wrong... the guy said it will be 800 eur. I runned away as fast as possible and im still hiding in my basement.
Not going to replace my Garberg Carbon anytime soon. Thanks for reviewing these, Gents. Cheers.
200€ for all four together, then it would be fair😂
Thats what I thought at first. 😂 “reasonable”
And they would sell tonnes of them at that price...
Even that would be somewhat expensive.
200 euros, crazy. I like my 10$ Mora Basic as much as my 20$ Mora Classic no. 1. And I am not the guy who is like "they are 10$, so I don't care if I lost them or break them". I like them for another reason - they are simple, yet they can perform a lot of tasks perfectly. And this is exacatly why I like being in the woods - for the simplicity and, I would even say, honesty of the moment. There is only you and the wood. Cheap but effective knife totally fits this feeling.
Anyways, 200$ - wow, crazy.
Mora is the only made in Sweden knifemaker left. I’m quite happy they’re trying to move into premium because it might mean they’re able to stay in business. No one survives in the low end unless they move production to China (like Spyderco, Buck and most other makes have done).
I think we should all be happy we can actually buy a made in Sweden Kansbol, Companion or 511.
Mora has always made premium knives in the past, like the Laplander for example. Even though most people aren’t aware.
@@tor2919 such low-volume knives are not going to help their business anyways I think. I am okay with them selling such expensive knives, but the competition in 200 euro price area is huge and their propositions doesn't look strong to me.
I appreciate your honesty addressing the elephant in the room (price).
I know I'll never buy those knives for that, not even if it had 14c28n.
"We're not here to bash Mora, nevertheless ..." :D
But seriously, It's well deserved, they went totally nuts with their pricing with those ....
You can either help recycling, and be sustainable, or you can keep being a wasteful dick. Your choice.
Because they knew they'd get away with it
@@F3EDER I strongly doubt they'll sell much of those at this price ...
I have enjoyed every single DBK upload especially when I'm watching them while carving with my bugout.
haha thank you so much
Honestly it's still are good knife, they still make an attractive product, and there's really no problem with the quality. But if only a few people are complaining, it's fine, but almost everyone is complaining about the price, then it's really a problem. Although the whole world is in inflation, all businesses are starting to increase prices, which is understandable, but their pricing this time, you can say that the step is too big, ordinary metal and ordinary wood plus the incomprehensible market pricing ...
😅
got some kind of sticker shock when checking the Felco secateurs range the other day. they now have a couple 249€ models. super duper premium limited edition with leather covered handles and nice matte black finish for everything else. 😅
funny thing is when you really use them, they last decades so it ends up costin' something like a couple euros per month including spare parts along the way. even a few eurocents if they get the same longevity as my grandfather's ones from the early fifties. still working, parts still available and third generation using them hoping to pass them to the fourth in due time. 😏👌
those Moras though, bit expensive but when looking long term, who cares. plus we'll be soon having so much inflation that we'll laugh at those prices when paying 500000000000€ for a stale loaf of sawdust bread and double that the next day... 😂
It's a rip off plan and simple. You might be ok with it but it's just taking advantage of people
If Mora priced this series any less, it would take too much of their customer base away from their own budget and mid range collection.
These knives aren't meant for the people who buy most of their products based on budget. The sales from these don't take away from other's, they are just adding to the bottom line. It's actually pretty smart.
@@mdsign001Indeed, it's probably to avoid a company self cannibalism, plus the fact that recycling and making it more eco compatible, that makes the price this high. That being said Marttiini went into the same kind of idea with their X WWF limited serie scandi knife but the price tag remained under 60€.
It was the exact same panic when the Bushcraft series launched ten years ago “omg 45€ for a Mora I can buy a 511 for 7€”
The again when the Garberg was launched “omg 100€ for a Mora…”
I mean it was the exact same reactions down to the letter. And it also explains why it’s important for healthy companies to not put themselves in a corner with low pricing. You need money makers with a high profit margin which also build the brand.
I’d get if people were upset if Mora cancelled the Companion but that isn’t the case. So frankly I don’t get this at all. But then I wasn’t upset when they released the Bushcraft or Garberg either. At least these look like good knives unlike Bushcraft (awful handle) and Garberg (heavy and cuts like sh*t)
They look like good knives; but you can get three or four Mora's or one fallkniven for the same price. Still awsome video!
Yesterday, I had some bushcrafter ask me if I could sharpen his bushcrafting knife; and also "do the spine like you would hockey ice-skates". I had to think twice about that one; but he had a point; and last time he went ice-skating; he had his ice-skates sharpened; and also the spine of his knife; and it performed wonderfull for firesteel scraping. So I hollow-ground the spine of his knife; and it scraped firesteel like crazy; you should really try that. In the Netherlands you can find plenty of places to sharpen ice-skates.
nice, i usually square them with a diamond file then finish with the big carbide scrapper. gotta try that ice skatin' profile on the next one. 😺👌
Aside from the fact that much better knives can be bought for that price, the most distinctive feature of the mora brand was that it produced good knives at an affordable price, in short, price performance products. They gave up on it in this series. I like your every video very much and I've been your strict follower for a long time. Your energy is very high, your content is always excellent and tastefully prepared. Continuing like this, greetings from Türkiye ❤
Anything over $100 is simply ludicrous. Period. Their own knives beat these! And any spine can be sharpened, so that $10-30 mora will be as good with fire making with a longer blade (companion HD stainless).
Know what reduces the carbon footprint?? Not buying more knives...I've done my part and not bought these 🤣.
hahaha true!
@Dutch Bushcraft Knives thank you for doing this though! Your one of the channels I never miss
Heyyy maxlvl!!! Nice seeing you here!!!
Disclaimer: "There were no trees harmed during the filming of this video."
My last knife is now a 16 " blade 5160 spring steel, full tang, fighting guard, 5 chira Kukri. What a beast of a knife. Hand made in Nepal. I probably take it out 20 times a day and look with amazement at it how beastly it is. I would love to see Martin and well we all know it is Survival Lilly in male drag going by the name of Mickey do a destruction test on it. Does trolling ever get old! I think not!
Loved the shots and cinematics, sound and effects are on point. I can truly notice the improvements over the years, proud of yall :,)
I know mora probably has a lot of overhead and they’re doing things in a very environmentally friendly way but there are comparable options that are a fraction of the price. When I saw these announced the first thing I thought of was BPS knives and what a great value they are. Of course there are differences, stainless mora vs 1066 BPS, expensive mora packaging vs cheap packaging, and I’m sure the mora fit and finish is superior. Also it just occurred to me, do the Mora knives even have a sheath?BPS has a nice leather sheath and in some cases a fire steel and is also full tang with oak handles.
To me these Mora knives seem like either a collectors piece or a money grab while pleasing all the people who’ve been asking for a full tang mora knife all these years. For that kind of money though, there’s just too many exceptional options from other production companies or even small “custom” makers and you’ll get way more for your money.
Yeah, reminds me of BPS knives.
I realize Mora think they are being environmentally friendly, but their pricing would cause an environmental disaster in most people's wallets!
We appreciate you guys being honest !!
Cool knives, thanks guys for the vid.
Oehhh yeah! New vid!!😍😍
Your videos make me smile every time.
They could keep the price but swap the steel for Elmax and I would be on board
exactly! It wouldn't up the production costs that much I think
Thanks guys, take care😊
I am a Morakniv fan boy and even I think the current proce on these knives is way too high!
They should be around the same price as the Garberg and come with the dangler and a fire steel. Look at the Joker knives for example, much better for less money.
I just don't understand what the Morakniv marketing team were smoking when they came up with these prices.
The price range of these new knives from the world knife price leader Morakniv may have good impact to world knife market because all other knives looks having reasonable price when you compare to these ash wood series.
I think 75-100€ would have been a reasonable price tag. The thing I noticed when they launched them in the live video at IWA is that a lot of the money probably went to the design and development team because the knives themselves were not as important as the blah blah blah about the cardboard box ("ooh wow, look how it opens and closes!!") and all the hip words like sustainable and carbon footprint stuff. And I think Elles was already a little bit drunk. ;)
Not so much design team as marketing.
The actual retail prices in a couple months will be lower. It’s the same with all new products. Cash in on early adopters then retail will lower the price. The recommended price on a company’s website is always much higher than retail. For example I’m looking to replace my stove. The Primus Omnilite is listed at 250€ on Primus website but I can easily find it for 160€ in retail.
People forget that Mora gets paid perhaps 50-60€ for one of these knives. The rest is retail and tax.
Great vid boys, I agree that's overpriced. Considering the leather sheath and the nice wood handle, it doesn't worth more than 20-25€ over the Garberg
Its not worth 20 over the standard 511. It literally cost them nothing in materials, its recycled!
@@reikyfoxxe1847 so recycled means free for you? dafuq, we need energy and work to recycle these materials. 😅😅😅😅
@@reikyfoxxe1847you are us American or British
@@reikyfoxxe1847 the Moras are press cut from a metal sheet, this mora ful tang, means more than double of metal tahn any other Mora. They perform well, are great knifes that you can depend on, I just don't see 200€
@@babaarsch9391 murica
If I had to guess how much they were going to be, like when I originally saw them I would have thought they would be around £60-£80. You can get lovely Ukrainian wood handled bushcraft knives for like £40 (bps/beavercraft).
Another great video Bushcraft boys. I like the look of them but personally i think even the garberg was overpriced when i bought it. VG10 F1 or Lionsteel M4 are still my go to;s
Keep up the great work chaps! Love from UK.
amazing how they covered such a vast range in price with so little in between
I'm definitely a kind of fanboy to Morakniv but for budget around 200€ for an carbon blade, I would prefer a TOPS BOB Fieldcraft or even an ESEE PR4.
Starting the easter weekend with a DBK Thursday!
Hurra! 💪🏽 🥳
I was so excited to get these until they showed the pricing and steel choices. I didn't think I'd ever be able to say that it's almost cheaper to get a bark river over a mora but hey, here we are.
For $250 USD I’ll get a Helle Nord
Thanks for the honest review! It's really tough to justify buying one at that price point. I picked up a Work Tuff Gear Kodiak for that price and it's a huge 10in bushcraft/chopper. Love to see a review of that btw!
When I saw the advertisements for these,
I was wondering what you boys would think of them
Very funny guys and the cornerstone of the knife community.... long time viewer since childhood.... God bless you both brothers
LT.Wright please. I've got the 5" genesis, small northern hunter and a saber sospes. All of them have been great knives. The spine and a2 on the gen 5 is very impressive
Excellent video, sirs, as per usual. 🍷🧐🔪
Thanks DBK for the honest vid!!
I saw the Lok knife review already couple of weeks ago on a other channel and i saw the price and i thought that is bullsh#t.
Sorry but there are so many brands to choose from and with better steals so won't be my first choice these new Morakniv.
I think it would be more for collectors of Morakniv these new serie of knives.
I would like to see an episode where you match a knife style to each of your band members.
Hahah the gabbers😂 hope i was the inspiration of that part when i spoke to maarten at the DKE.😂 greeds pj,
Keep up the good work
Yeah but you still bought it. Other reviews will buy it and have bought it. they've easily had 30k or 40k through the door just from reviewers since it's release already. They don't care what you think of the price, they are making money, tons of money in fact, and also in a preemptive strategy to raising their prices on the cheaper stuff.
9:23 what is the cube Marteen is chopping?
the quality of the video is way better than before!
i also liked the guitar @ 7:00 music very much!
Thank you!
I love morakniv ! I have 5 mora , this new line is the most beautiful , my favorite is the finn for hiking , but a little bit expensive . I think its because they are collection knives . Thank you for your video DBK
Whoah Maarten, even Mikkie can make a fire!
I love the Moras I have. I have an Original with the laminated steel, plus a Companion. As much as I really respect Mora's decision to create knives with a small environmental footprint that perform well, and look beautiful, my budget doesn't allow me to drop what would be over $400 Australian plus freight for one knife. Garbergs retail over here for nearly $200 Aussie dollars.
Thank you.
This video has helped so much as I didn’t know what one is like better but thing it is the whit, when will u guys test a Ben orford knife as they r the number one bushcraft knife at the minute and would be interesting to c ur thoughts 👍🏻love the videos btw 😁
Still the carbon garberg for me every time.
Completion is fierce in the $200 range and while these are very nice looking & performing knives there is nothing that really sets them apart or that can justify the price.
What’s the first thing everyone mentions when these knives are brought up or mentioned - the price.
Mikey at 12:45 + I thought you were gonna give him a wake up slap in the face … haha!
LOVE the look of the Rombo but the price...
People moaned at the price of the Garberg when it was released, but the knife did sell well. I thought the Garberg made sense; more money, for more steel.
But this new range really do seem like too much money, for no more than an Ash handle.
Like a cross between a Companion HD and a Garberg…but with a Fällkniven price tag! I love Mora knives but they’re taking the bloody piss with these
I was so happy to see something new! Not going to pay that though, unless it is a better steel.
BUSHCRAFT BOYYYYYYYYY.thanks for another great vid guys. One gripe, the auto focus........
Hello Mikkie and Maarten, I agree they're too expensive at most perhaps $100 ea., but then with what's out there..... Keep up the good work, be safe and take care, "God Bless", sincerely, Randy. 🙏😇👊
P.S.: JFYI-should ya misplace any Easter eggs and find 'em a couple days later just toss 'em out, don't crack 'em open to check, or else! Personal experience from childhood!!!😖
hahahah!
I am absolutely DIGGIN this new song by the Wodan Boys.
I want to tell you two forest knobs a story. One time in a far off land a uncle of a young man took out the one knife that he carried. It was his rich uncle who owned only one soso folding pocket knife and he said and these were words to live by "this knife cleaned a lot of deer. Boy." He will never forget it. He was poor. He had lots of knives and not one had cleaned a deer. His rich uncle had sharpened his knife so many times and so poorly it had the blade nearly worn away. But it had cleaned deer. The poor, because he bought to many knives, young guy looked at the rich uncles knife and thought I wouldn't pick up that piece of crap if it laid on the trail in front of me. The poor young man was a steel snob. He had to have a knife that represented many different steels not that he used them. The poor young man bought many knifes to reassure himself that his knives were up to the task yet failed to actually do a task with his knives. In fact he rarely used any of his knives and actually bought knives with the intention of never using the them. He only took them out and looked at them. What a waste of good knife steel thought the poor young man. In my hands they have done nothing of consequence.
Don't get the idea that the young man is me. I am not young in fact I am old. So it couldn't possibly be me that has wasted premium knife steel. I am so ashamed to admit the young man is me. How sad.
Morakniv are still the kings of budget knives, that’s undeniable.
The Ashwood series are way too expensive considering that the 511 preformed the same.
I won’t be buying them. I do like the Rhombo but it needs to be half the price and a bit bigger.
Good luck to Mora with the sales. I’m sure the die hard fan bois will buy them.
I’ll stick with my Companion.
Yup, they really missed the ball on this. I was hoping it would be at least 14c28n.... nope just 12c27...
Joker knives have gorgeous sheaths, and thick slabs of 14c28n for half the price....
Great overall review! at the 9:22 mark, what was that you were shaving into the soup pot?
Any chance of getting the track list from this video?! Awesome video fellas!
cant wait to use Mikkiehasatinyweener
Love your videos by the way, and PLEASE never stop posting!
The fire making transition 😆💀
Great job guys, yep to expensive...
I thought they were made out of super unobainium or some such amazing new steel! NOT RECYCLED STAINLESS!
But I did love the video as always! Keep up the good work! ATB Sam from Vietnam
I would price them at between $40 and $80. I am a Mora user and fan. With that said I think most name brand knives are over priced by %50-%60. There are very few knives out there that should cost more than $100 bucks. Everybody is paying big money for knives with super Steels that take the fun out of having enough cuz you never have to sharpen them. But when you do have to sharpen them its a pain in the butt because the steel so hard.
The regular Mora’s have finger guards too, which is highly desirable for obvious reasons. There’s a wood handled carving Mora I got 3 years ago for 20 bucks.
This episode was impeccably well produced. Holy moly. You guys are headed for another serious growth wave. Couldnt agree more about the knives too! Bloody gorgeous, but I would top out at, mmmm... $100 CAD I think
Agree, but 100$ US is much less than what Mora lists the Garberg black for, so how does that make sense?
@@tor2919 Oh, no, you are totally correct. That is just my dream price, not a realistic expectation
Woah a sponsorship by boker impressive 🎉
I love Mora and own a lot of knives from the brand. But at 200 euros for the quality, I'm out. I'd better stay with my favorite, the Garberg. The knives are beautiful and are basically what I always wanted from Mora but not at the price. 70-80 euros would be a realistic price. But not 200!
Me too...First i thougt wow these look awesome, sturdy fulltang and wooden scales, i have to get one, than saw the pricing...🙈🙈🙈
What is the black coat you are wearing Mikkie? It looks very warm and comfy! I dig the higher hand warmer pockets. Please let me know...If you can. TY. Love the channel, love the chemistry, love the tests!
I have bought the whole set for my elves and unicorns to fix my premium snake skin slippers. Thanks for testing Dutchmen.
Красавчики! Очень классные видосы!) Удачи!)
Thanks Fellas 😎
I’d like to see you guys do a video by performance categories. Such as, the best knife for batoning, the best knife or feather, sticking, etc. Then pick one life is the best all around.
Nice video.. 👍👍
They make legit everything else so affordable, so I’m not mad at them.
Firstly love you guys, but wasn't this what people were asking Mora for , yes the price is higher but the quality is good as we expected. I live in Australia and all the knives (bushcraft and survival knives ) are very expensive here ,I own jokers ,and mora knives , so it is hard to afford the top end knives . But thanks you guys for showing me how good these knives and many for are will have to save for awhile if I want to get more of these knives thank you again cheers
Tekut Survival knife, full tang, G10 handle scales with a drop point edge and a stonewashed finish. Strong nylon sheath. Great quality and affordable. I would LOVE to see you guys test it
If Mora priced this series any less, it would take too much of their customer base away from their own budget and mid range collection.
These knives aren't meant for the people who buy most of their products based on budget. The sales from these don't take away from other's, they are just adding to the bottom line. It's actually pretty smart.
I would add to that comment that we should not expect that a company of Mora's size have not done their research, before setting the prices, or even before designing and launching the product line. I am sure they did their research, and came to the conclusion that there is a market share they can target. The fact that the price may not reflect actual "knife for dollar" value, does not mean that they do not have a place in the market. Knife people will consider type of steel, edge geometry and properties of the knife. Many others will only buy "green". To each their own!
Great looking knives. Decent steel. Finally removable handle scales. But the price makes it a no-go. Around that price (maybe a bit more) you can get Bark Rivers, Survive Knives, Benchmades, Fällknivens, etc... most/all with much better steels. Morakniv has been consistently going higher in price, maybe to shake off the image of the "cheap" knife? Hope they don't collapse.
The only knife to consider here is the Mora Wit (labeled bushcraft knife).
For you people that claim this is overpriced, can you please show me another knife that is excellent for both carving, whittling AND food prep?
The Wit knife cleanly cuts an apple in two. None of let’s say Casström knives with scandi edge can do so. The Wit is really an amazing allround knife. I love it!
If they used 14c28 or aeb-l without the coating i would have been fine with it
They look the part. But I'll stick with my Garberg and my Clipper. I can afford those and they work.
Looked at their web page and this is definitely more of a functional collectors item, even the names are taken from people that had a major part in the creation of the classic morakniv..
All the excuses for the price they have given were foreseeable circumstances. They knew they were going to price gouge from the start. It's a sad thing to see from such a trusted company.
could you guys do a video on the new joker bushlore knife?
So for about $220 (about 200 euros), I could get a Tops Storm Vector here in the USA, or a Tops BOB and have money left to get it a custom sheath. Alternatively, I can get an Esee Izula, 3, or 4 in S35VN and have about $80 left for whatever. $220 for a basic steel with wooden handles is ridiculous, regardless of performance.
Hi DBk, do you have any insites on what happened to Bark river. I really want to buy a Bravo cruisader and it seems impossible to get a hold of one.
The prices on the shops are already going down from the the initial MSRP, you already can find the Lok at close to 200€.
But even at then price there are a lot of good brands with good ofer with more modern steels.
Its still is the same steel 12c27 from the same factory Sandvik. Since 2020 they decided not to say what steels they used openly, if you check the catalogs from those years already only appears the recycled Swedish steel mention and not 12c27 or 14c28n. But you can steel find in an article in their webpage the specs of steels.
If the garberg with the leather sheath is listed in their website at 120€ that has a bit more manual labor would probably go around 150€-160€ maybe
