I use two methods to get clearance from the bolt heads; 1 if you're using the rag joint that comes with your kit I use an acetylene torch to heat the brake arm (off of the bicycle) to bend & reshape it to have clearance. 2- I mainly use an aluminum hub adapter instead of the rag joint, it will slide left & right to give you more clearance & better chain adjustment. I prefer the second method it's just a much better set up, but if you have to reshaping the bends in the brake are does work. I hope this helps you with your issue.👍👍
Phantom engines are pretty good. 👍👍 But I will have to admit, I've probably used every brand & style over the years & you'll always run across a bad one in any brand if you use enough of them.. I'd say give it a try & if you don't think it runs the way it should contact the dealer you bought it from & exchange it, most dealers will work with you as long as it's within the 30 day purchase period.. No need to over think it, get one, get it on your bike & get out & enjoy some riding.. 🚴♂🚴♂
You'll have to bore out the center hole of the sprocket to fit over the bearing dust cap on the wheel so it will fit properly & give you the clearance you need to put the brake arm on. If you don't have a way to do that the only other way to make everything work properly is to buy the CNC Sprocket & Hub adapter, that sprocket comes with a much bigger center hole that fits right on there and you won't have to do any extra work to make it fit.
Here is a link to a video I made that might help you better understand what I'm talking about to help you with your rear sprocket problem. I personally bore them out & use this Aluminum Hub Mount; these mounts work perfectly every time from this company (they don't slip on the hub) But if you don't have a way to bore out the center, I highly suggest getting the CNC Sprocket kit that comes with hub mount. I'm not a big fan of those rag joints that come with the kits they are a big problem & will definitely give you chain problems in the future. It is well worth the extra few dollars to not be broke down with chain problems far from home.. I hope this helps you.. ua-cam.com/video/SpzfuBuoC2w/v-deo.htmlsi=h7jBNKGzwd062cTw
If you are wanting to run the standard sprocket that comes with your kit you will have to bore out the center hole. If you purchase the CNC Hub & sprocket you won't have to bore out the center hole, that type already has the larger hole.
All of the Motorized Bicycle engine kits originate from China, so it doesn't really matter what so called Brand you get, they are all pretty much the same. When building one of these bikes it's all luck of the draw when you get an engine kit, sometimes they work perfect right out of the box & sometimes you may have to work on a few things to get them right & sometime you may need to send them back for an exchange until you get a good one.. Just being honest.. Most of the time they work just fine... I hope if you decide to build one everything goes smooth for you.. 🚴♂🚴♂
I machine the center hole in the sprocket to fit over the bearing cap, then the brake arm fits like it's supposed to & the bearing cap keeps the grease in & all the road dirt out of the bearings..👍
In Missouri, even with 50cc, you have to have a license. No insurance. Over that, license, insurance and motorcycle add on to the license. Somehow, you have to also get the bike registered as a motorcycle and license it.
I feel your pain.. 🤬 Each State is different on how they feel about these bikes. California is the same way, the person I talked to in Cali. said they had to go to the DMV & get paperwork to be able to license & ride theirs so that may be something you could look into.
To know the cc they either have to be familiar with the motors or take it apart, and the law sees it as a motor assistance bike just like an electric bike
I'm not sure what you're referring to..? If it's about engine size & or the law 🤷♂but here in Illinois the law states it can't be any bigger than a 50cc engine & the bike still has to be able to be pedal able, if not then they consider it a Moped & then they require s drivers licenses & Insurance. 🏍
I understand your concern.. A lot of people remove them to be on the safe side. I personally explain what could happen to people I'm building bikes for & let them decide, some folks want to keep them & give them a chance to see if they want to remove them & some people say they want them removed right from the start.. If you don't feel safe with them on your bike I'd say remove them & not have the worry.. Me personally, I have them on both my bikes for years & I've never had a problem. I'd say if you have a concern about yours's I'd take them off to remove the worries from your mind.. 👍👍🚴♂🚴♂
Both bikes are good bikes although the Cranbrook is easier to install an engine on. The frame where the engine mounts look the same, but they are not.. The Cranbrook gives you more room & you'll need that beings you will have to use a fat tube front engine mount.. 👍👍
At the time of this video, I was ordering the engines in bulk directly from China, but if you're just looking to purchase one 50cc you can pick them up from Bike berry or Gasbikes.com they are pretty much the same until you get into really high-performance engines. 🚴♂🚴♂
Porting is not a fad. My bike the “Harley” started out 24ish mph now with porting, high compression head, mz65 pipe and tons of other mods I’m doing almost 40mph with a stock sprocket I can go faster if I use a 36tooth. I think if you mod your bike and you do proper maintenance it will last just as long as a stock one provide you run rich oil.
I didn't mean the physical work of porting a cylinder is a fad, I meant that it's a fad at the moment because that seems to be what everyone on every other video is talking about like it absolutely needs to be done.Years ago it was boost bottles, then it was 212 Predator engines, then it was Jack Shafts, bigger carbs, Hi-compression heads..the list goes on and on.I never said those people were wrong for doing that stuff if that's what you want to do, I am saying that if your a person that just wants a motorized bicycle to ride a stock engine of whatever size is the way to go, they work just fine as they are. 🚴♂️
I don't know what type of Mnt. bike you have but yes I have put them on for people in the past so it is possible, if it's a small framed bike you may need an off-set intake to install the carb.( not enough room without it) I wish you luck..🚴♂🚴♂
i like the 80cc/66cc engine on this cranbrook bike instead of a smaller engine. however, the included muffler rubs on the front tire. so i suppose gotta slide the rear engine mount up and the front mount down
The bike is an attractive vehicle, but l have been building these same bikes for many years and have some tips for you. First, l always add front caliper brakes to them. You never know when you will need to panic stop. Second, your cables look untidy. You can remedy this by cutting about ten inches off of the clutch cable and rerouting the throttle cable. I have done this for years and it really tidies up the front of the bike. Message me back and l can advise you on how to increase performance whilst keeping it reliable. Bikes by Bill.
I appreciate your advice 👍 I used to put a front disc brake set up on the front & at least around here people complained about the extra money for the bikes, even when I'd put on the cheap caliper set up on them.. 🤷♀So after that I thought alright cheap public (Good luck with that).. About the cables, I used to do that too, I'd reroute the throttle cable & shorten the clutch cable for the cleaner look but once again the consumer had complaints, like I went to change this kit over to another bike & had to buy another clutch cable because this one was too short.. 🤷♀🤷♀So after years of pettily complaints I just went back to the basics.. 🚴♂🚴♂

You can put the biggest 2stroke on the market on your bike and NO cop period can look at it and tell what size it is...and non of them are bigger than 85cc...
I agree..👍 It's not the visible size of the engine it's the speed part that gets people in trouble, when their passing cars or they are weaving in & out of traffic attracting attention to them selves is usually when people have the problems with the police.. If a person doesn't have a DL I just suggest going with the 50cc at least around where I'm at because they are legal to ride & will keep them out of trouble..

How did you solve the issue with the coaster brake arm rubbing on the bolts for the sprocket?

Mopeds have a centrifugal clutch so the engine can idle without holding the clutch lever in. So there is a loophole

The Hub Mount size is 1.5 0r 1 1/2 in. for a coaster brake & if you have a free wheel rear wheel it's 1 in.
