Best Aluminum Hub Mount !!
Переглядів 44310 місяців тому
Today I share the best aluminum rear sprocket hub mount for a rear coaster brake bicycle. This Hub Mount fits your standard sprocket that comes in your bike engine kit, no need to spend extra money on a CNC Sprocket. It also gives you that extra side to side adjustment you don't get with the rag joint.. Also, this Hub Mount fits properly & does not slip on the wheel hub & the sprocket bolts nev...

    I know this is a three year old video, but I'm pretty new at this. I have the one piece jug on the left here, runs good but I want a nice blue anodized high comp head. I'm seeing this 49mil cylinder and piston set on eBay for 40 bucks. If I get the studs and gaskets, would I be able to connect that 49 mil piston to my rod and have the right stroke? Cylinder should mount onto the case right? I'm assuming more displacement is better. Maybe one of you guys could suggest a better option?

      @EcoTransGaspoweredBikes 2 дні тому

      I had thought about using glue or epoxy, but I thought that through time it would probably not hold so I chose to slightly crimp the end & then I wouldn't have to worry about it coming loose when I was out riding.

    7:05 I'm on my first build, and I've thought about this one. What about when I want to go from a 36t up to a 44t? Don't look now, but that chain tensioner does more than just keep the chain taught >>>>> it also makes it possible for me to save $ cuz, I don't have to buy a separate chain. I will never remove links >>>> just wasting $, and limiting your gear ratios.

    • @EcoTransGaspoweredBikes
      @EcoTransGaspoweredBikes 2 дні тому

      I partially agree with your theory. I personally want my chain as short as I can get it to comfortably fit so I don't have to reply on the chain tensioner to do all the work keeping the chain tight, I'd rather have my tensioner work as more of a chain guide to feed the chain to the sprocket at higher speeds. Chains aren't that real expensive so if I'm going to change sprockets, I'll change chains too.. But if your plans working for you & not causing you any problems, I say use it.

    How tight is "TIGHT"? Ft. Lbs. ? I don't want to warp my hub. Thanks

    • @EcoTransGaspoweredBikes
      @EcoTransGaspoweredBikes 2 дні тому

      I don't have any actual torque specs to share with you on these. 😪As long as it's tight I've never had one slip or give me any problems. You don't have to worry at all about hurting your wheel hub, the aluminum hub adapter would strip out it's threads way before you would get enough torque on it to damage your wheel hub.. 👍

      If you happen to have the small tube Cranbrook frame you shouldn't need an adapter. After I started using the welded front engine mount, I put them on every bike build, it just insures that the engine will never move even if the owner never checks the nuts & bolts through time, it's just a system I use that's never let me down yet.

    Hello Eco-Trans, I watched your video. I also have been building motorized bikes for 10 years or so. First in Tampa, Florida and now here in Las Vegas. If you've never had this problem with the internal parts breaking before except only with this one customer not once, but heaven forbid 3 times - then there is a strong possibility that the customer is abusing the bike during the break-in process. He is probably riding it too hard or too long of time during the break-in process either/or not following the break-in procedures properly. You mentioned that you even switched companies where you bought the engines and the same customer still had engine problems. That is a very good sign that the customer is to blame. I'm sure you already know that during the break-in process the customer is not to ride the bike more than 4 or 5 miles or 20 minutes at a time and then turn off the engine and let it cool all the way back down before turning the engine back on again. So that means at least a minimum of 1-2 hours of cooling down time before turning the engine back on again. Also as I'm sure you have told the customer, the customer has to continue putting in extra oil during the break-in process. The Oil mixture during break-in process has to be 8 ounces of Oil to 1 Gallon of Gas. And also the break-in process lasts a very long time.. approximately 2 gallons worth of gas. Which is about 4 or 5 bike tank fulls of gas.

      You can talk to some people until your blue in the face.. 🤬🤬Most of them just don't listen, plain & simple. The small percent of the ones that do usually don't have problems & get a ton of miles trouble free riding & the ones that don't seem to assume that you should take care of any problems they create on a daily basis or at least some of them anyway. I gave up years ago trying to teach people how to take care of their bikes & how not to ride them if they want them to last. These days I just get them started with the basics & let them figure it out for themselves. Some people only learn the hard way & that's by keep buying parts.. 🤷‍♂🤷‍♂I hope I don't sound like a complete ass of a person but if you have been building bikes as long as you say I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂

      I feel your pain.. 😭😭Over time I have built 100's of these bikes. Some of them are perfect right out of the box, starts right up, never has any problems, rides for thousands of miles, always reliable.. Then there's the others, hard starting, constant engine problems, parts just falling apart, every time your ride it you're wondering if it's going to make it or what's going to go wrong next. . It's not our fault..!! It's the quality of the kits..!! These kits are not the best quality & I don't care where you buy them from, they all come from China..!!! It's a gamble every time you build one.. Having said all that, don't give up.. 👍👍If you don't let anger overtake you & you quit, you'll eventually get it lined out & be able to enjoy riding it.. It's just the way these are.. Thanks for the comment 🙏 Ride safe.

  • @DirectCurrent4u
    @DirectCurrent4u 3 місяці тому

    The only way to get any type of Quality out of these bikes if you're buying them, new is two take them apart and rebuild them. Everybody that has owned these knows they are full of trash and the bearings in them are bone dry. So you can't expect to buy one out of the box put it in a bike and expect it to run more than a couple miles before it breaks. As an engine builder myself, I would never buy one of these out of the box and put it in a bike and give it to a customer. You are only asking for trouble because it will be coming back to you in a short time in pieces. Thanks for sharing the video. This is the second time I've ever seen magneto come apart like this.. More than likely it, it was caused by lack of quality control. Which China has zero of!👍

    • @EcoTransGaspoweredBikes
      @EcoTransGaspoweredBikes 3 місяці тому

      I agree 👍👍All of these engines have little to no quality control. In my opinion they could use better materials building these engines, that would help a lot with longevity. 🚴‍♂🚴‍♂

  • @DirectCurrent4u
    @DirectCurrent4u 3 місяці тому

    That shaft can be straightened really easily if you take your time . But the keyway might not be able to hold a new key. Hard to tell from the video. That shaft is not trued on most new motors! They can get bent very easily. I have never seen a mag come apart like that before. That was crazy.👍

    • @EcoTransGaspoweredBikes
      @EcoTransGaspoweredBikes 3 місяці тому

      I disagree a bit with your theory about the output shaft being true, granted they aren't Ferrari quality, they usually are pretty close. If they weren't the magnet would rub on the coil. The shaft on this engine was really to bent & wasn't worth the effort.

    How did you solve the issue with the coaster brake arm rubbing on the bolts for the sprocket?

    • @EcoTransGaspoweredBikes
      @EcoTransGaspoweredBikes 3 місяці тому

      I use two methods to get clearance from the bolt heads; 1 if you're using the rag joint that comes with your kit I use an acetylene torch to heat the brake arm (off of the bicycle) to bend & reshape it to have clearance. 2- I mainly use an aluminum hub adapter instead of the rag joint, it will slide left & right to give you more clearance & better chain adjustment. I prefer the second method it's just a much better set up, but if you have to reshaping the bends in the brake are does work. I hope this helps you with your issue.👍👍
