Here's my tip: Go around the very edge of the perspex with a black permanent marker. This will stop the edge of the deflector lighting up and creating a visual distraction.
thanks for your video - I 100% support your conclusion - screen works super well. Only drawback I find is that I find I am riding faster because it is so much fun. Buy the screen in bits for £12 there are videos on YT on how to put it together. Quality is really high for the price.
Ali Express.....£5.17 + tax/delivery. Just under £9 delivered, arrived in 5 days. Exact same one as you fitted here. Not tried mine yet due to the weather, but hopefully it's better for me too on my Versys 1000. Cheers
Tried a cheaper Chinese version of this on my bike. With regard to the added wind protection I did get similar results to you, but I also experienced a couple of negatives. Firstly, I found that the extra weight of the deflector caused the windscreen to flex and shake excessively. This may have been down to the shape of my screen, which is effectively a flat piece of plastic. A more shaped screen may offer more rigidity and so may not be a problem. Longer term, I was concerned that all the flexing could lead to screen damage and possible failure at the screen mounting points. Secondly, even with all of the rubber mounts, it still left permanent marks on the windscreen. So overall, a good product if your existing windscreen is sufficiently rigid enough to support the extra weight and you don't mind that it will leave small marks where it attaches. For me unfortunately, it has been removed and is now gathering dust in the garage.
What’s your point? Buy a quality product or these don’t work unless the original windscreen is of good quality and shaped ? Did it offer any resistance with helmet buffeting? Cars to clarify?
Certainly, I currently have an MRA screen which has a pre fitted wind deflector and it is excellent. It is easily adjustable and stable at all speeds and more importantly it eliminates wind buffeting completely. Previously I had tried a cheap Chinese after market deflector fitted to the stock screen on my Honda NC750. Possibly because the stock screen was not very rigid the deflector caused the screen to shake around a lot. Secondly, when I removed the deflector it had marked the stock screen where it was attached. So in conclusion, deflectors are excellent if the screen you are attaching it to is strong enough and you don't mind a couple of little marks where you attach it. Secondly if you can get a screen, like the MRA ones with the deflector pre fitted, I am sure it will be perfect in reducing buffeting. @@ginoasci
@@philiprobinson2011it sounds like you have far too limited data to make any comments about screen and extensions in general. But it's nice to know your experience with the cheap aftermarket anyway. Maybe the conclusion should be directed solely towards the cheap aftermarket extension?
I really don’t see how I could have too limited data to make any comments. Surely my experience is a relevant as anyone else’s and whilst limited it might be of use to someone out there. My comment was about my experience fitting a cheap aftermarket deflector to a stock screen and part of the problem was that the stock screen was not rigid enough to tolerate the additional forces being generated by the deflector and not specifically about the deflector itself, which actually worked very well and was only let down in that the clamping screws used to attach it which left marks on the stock screen. @@jackle842000
Excellent excellent review. You answered many of my questions about one of those type of clip-on visors. Now, let me look up what quid to dollars is. Haha! Thanx again and, keep up the great work!!
What is the proper position of the clip on. Does it need to overlap the original and with how much. Is the angle of the clip on the same as the original?
5:34... "Your done". My what's done? I have one of those deflectors (less than £14 from China including shipping etc) on my Honda Crosstourer and you're right, it works like the Laminar Lip I used to have on my ST1100. Not pretty, but effective!
@@HelmetHead thanks. Could you give a couple examples? The mounts on this are plastic while on the others it's some kind of metal so I initially thought the opposite.
@@vbence12 This one is a lot lighter, has 2 points off mounting, little bit bigger so more wind protection. I found it personally better then the other. But if you only have a small screen the other might suit your bike more.
@@HelmetHead awesome thanks. I have a '93 Kawasaki gpz500 and since I'm on the bigger end I noticed that I pretty much have to ride full tuck to not be blown off from the seat. Thanks for the reviews they helped a lot.
Excellent! I'll be looking at getting one for motorway driving. Did the one you bought leave maths on your existing screen. I've seen them on ebay for a little as £14. Would you get a smoked one? That would go with my existing one, which was after market for my Suzuki V Strom 650 which doesn't eliminate all the buffeting.
Thank you for the video and for not having a 20 minute intro, just straight to the point 🍻 Question, have you tried putting the extension on the lower position to see what it would be like, so you’re not fully looking through it?
"Buffeting"..... I recently installed a 18" MadStad shield on my Bonneville. Same issue. Had to buy the taller 22" shield. Problem solved. Try a taller shield.
The cheapest one for my bike is from Italy, it would cost me.. AU $180.91.. +AU $12.49 postage.. I just bought a whole new wind screen that cost AU $160.. a bit shorter than the older one with the 2 holes in the lower part, the new one isn't like that. For a Honda 650 Deauville.. trying to see if the Chinese make one.. or the Japanese, if the original bike maker has one, is like hens teeth.
I don't like these. Tried it. I don't like having those bulky fasteners taking up precious real estate in my forward vision; it's a chronic subtraction from my overall safety, if you ask me. If they could make this with fasteners that clip the vertical sides of the windscreen, I might reconsider this item.

Thanks for the comparison video of the wind with and without. Much better than others I’ve seen
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Thanks for reviewing I’ve been thinking about getting one for my scooter and you’ve convinced me.

Thanks for this recommendation. I finally got around to ordering one. It arrived recently and works really well.
At £15.59 it's an absolute bargain!
😁👍
Ordered 1 of these for my triumph tiger based on your great review. Hoping it helps get rid of the awful wind buffeting issue. Thanks
Love the video:-) Wondering is it keeps bugs from splatting on your helmet? Ty
Good simple clear review - will be buying for my gs1200 - at that price you can’t go wrong - many thx
Just subscribed. Thanks for the info on the screen. Just bought one. Keep the videos coming 👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
That was good! Thanks buddy.. ordered one of these things.. Wind noise on the bike shits me to tears.. Hopefully it works as well for me.
good video
helped me install my Wind Deflector
safe travels my friend
thanks
I had one of thise on my 04 vstrom and it made it, for me, as quiet as a goldwing behind the screen. Easy fix for about 20£.
Seems to work well for you now. Take care, ride safe.

Very interest. Only yesterday I recorded a video in which I mention a screen extension. This one wouldn’t fit, but still good to see your results 👍🏼
Thanks buddy I will look forward to seeing ya video 😉
Thank you. I've been looking at these for highway riding 👍
This product review led me to buy one for my CB500X as well. Agree 100% with your assessment. Definitely helped with buffetting.
Awesome glad it helped. Thanks for coming back and commenting. 😁👍
Big hello fam, from over on the other side of the pond. Great video and review . I’m going to order one.
Hello buddy 😁 I hope it helps with the wind buffering when it arrives!
Great and honest video, has encouraged me to but a wind deflector for sure.👍
excellent upgrade, cool vid on helping other decide on what's worth it or not.

Nice one HH always great and well filmed 👌

Cheers biker brother I've subbed . And also just got my extension screen so gonna go do it. When Weather allows cheers again
Thank you! Lack of instructions is inexcusable from Ali Express. Installing as we speak.
Did this cause any damage to your screen? Like cracks or scratches where it clamps?
Great video I have been looking at this for my bike.
Thanks buddy
I agee put one on a moto guzzi california with out over 50 would buffit so bad i had trouble seeing now i can sit on the motorway no trouble at all
Buffeting not buffering ;) 😂
😂
My windscreen lets air around the sides and underneath. The foil did nothing

Subscribed as well 😉
😁 Thanks 👍. I have and it's still pretty good for extra wind protection 👍

Brand name versions of this device are crazy expensive. Way too expensive.
Your just paying for the name buddy. Link in the description to save a few quid 👍
Why did you get a clear and not a smoked one? Your windshield is smoked.
