This topic keeps coming back! Admire your perseverance Rikky. I modified my BMW "sport" screen by getting some studding and angling it from the bottom so the screen tips back at much more of an angle than standard. Ok, it's not design-house slick, and you get the airflow directed onto your chest but the bubbly air turbulence that was so unpleasant hitting the helmet has been much reduced. Means the bike might be staying around a little longer....
Yeah I can't let this one go 😁 I really should let it lie because as a naked bike it does really well in terms of wind blast... not too noisy and no turbulence. But if I found the holy grail in terms of a small screen that keeps the wind off and is quiet, I wouldn't say no! I see you've been going all mad-professor too haha, I might try your idea at some point!
I've added a Powerbronze touring screen to my R1250R. It certainly does not look pretty but it is very effective providing a quiet and wind-blast-free ride. i am quite short so it may not be as effective for a taller rider but I am happy with the result.
Hi Stephen, I should be taking a leaf out of your book if I really do want a windscreen on my bike, but I can't bring myself to fit one of the big ones! I was just curious as to whether this adjustable screen would somehow work wonders for me but I'm not too bothered in the end and it only cost £30 to try :)
My R1200R has the BMW sports screen which is higher (level with mirror 'elbow' and added a £10 AliExpress extender approx 5" like you tried). Same cheap and nasty locking lever but managed to get them to lock. Usually have in lowest position so only in front of original screen so acts like a diffuser to help push air upwards. I only tend to extend it when raining.
I like the performance of my flyscreen-like Sport shield on my R1250R - so semi-naked - but, yes, anything more robust just seems to create more problems than it solves.
The little fly screen does reduce wind pressure for me, but it increases wind noise unfortunately. I really shoudl just accept my bike as it is, but I can't help but preform experiments now and again!
I had the same issue with wind pressure, at high speed my helmet was really being pushed into my face and it was horrible. Now have the Puig sport screen, no issue with wind pressure, is a bit noisy without ear plugs but as soon as i got a pair of ear plugs the noise is bearable. Thinking of trying the powerbronze screen or MRA vario if i want to do any reasonable touring in the future
Prepare to spend more money trying to find the ideal screen! You'd have thought after buying four screens for my old 1250 Bandit and never finding a good solution that I would have learnt my lesson, but no 😂
Hey Rikky well they did look pretty cheap and nasty "don't know if they were '' what a pain and waste of time and money however much it was .So doesn't anyone do anything like a cockpit fairing for bikes these days rather than just a screen or maybe it's completely not what you want . Guess it's just one of those disappointing jobs you wish you had not bothered with but if ya don't try these things I suppose .😉👍well done on the tutorial though .
Yeah the reviews are not good for these types of screens and so I know I was taking a chance, but if I somehow got lucky with my £30 outlay it would have been a great deal! No great loss though, and another experiment in the books! 😊 I also thought other people who do buy one of these screens with it's rubbish instructions might find the video useful 👍
I will never give up as long as I have an imagination 😂 The kawa wobble is manageable without the top box fitted... I think a new pair of tyres will sort it out eventually.

Thanks you helped me a lot, best video of the assembly I found and I agree the fit and finish is not very good at all.

@@RikkyTang If you really take a leaf out my book you will be ordering an R1250RS with the tubular bar option 😀.
@Stephen Lane haha you got me there! 🤣 I've tried the RS and for me, the wind bufetting on that bike was worse than with the windscreen I just tried 🙃

Still hoping for miracles, eh? How is the Kawa wobble doing?
