Mighty Car Mods long time fan here guys, so much so that I started my own 240z project a little over a year ago when I was inspired by all the projects you were doing. Love the car, can't wait to see what you guys do with it

I live in Japan and in my travels I've seen a half a dozen 240Zs rusting in paddocks. I'm not a particular 240Z fan but even I thought it was sad each time I see one like that.

@@andresgarcia3516 they said L series as in the L28 that is in fact a 2.8L inline 6 cylinder engine. they are a power house and put down some serious power. I know because my friend owns a '82 Datsun 280ZX and it has the exact same engine.

Hang on a minute....you put a Ford engine in a Toyota Cresta, a Subaru engine in a VW Beetle, a Honda engine in a Mini.....and now you are actually putting a Nissan engine in a Nissan ( alright, it's a Datsun, but it's still the same company!).

Niels Johansen Why? If they were gonna go with a different manufacturer an Ls is a much better option. More horsepower and torque stock and almost unlimited potential. I think by keeping it all Nissan it’s much more interesting... just an opinion though.
After owning several ZCars a few years ago, I'm really enjoyed their project. One thing I'm finding very interesting is the range of restrictions that other countries put on modifying your cars. I guess I've gotten spoiled living in the States with a very different set of rules. You do have to make sure your mods meet certain certifications but to see Australia jank the whole driveline and leave you with a shell, that's pretty strict.
I don't know if the Japanese rules have changed but I remember guys in our Z Club buying Japanese engines that were pulled from cars there when they reached something like 2 years or 100,000 Kilometers or something like that. They used to be imported to the States frequently. You do need to research the varying rules before you spend your money. There could be some really rude surprises otherwise.
Just floored at the cool builds you keep putting out there. As someone who doesn't have a lot of money to buy different cars, do different builds, etc, it's amazing to live vicariously through these wonderful projects. You get to be emotionally invested in a car you love, but might not ever be able to own. Thanks so much for your hard work guys and keep it up. I'll be sure to buy some more merch to help you guys keep rolling!
I know this is probably repetetive but I just want to thank you. Thank all of you at Mighty Car Mods. For being who you are and doing what you do. From A to Z. You are a real inspiration for a lot of us all around the globe I dare to say. You brought me to the realms of car culture many years ago.

My dad was a Marine here in the US. He was stationed in Japan in 1973 after he finished 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. He bought a 1971 Datsun 240Z Fairlady. 2.4L with the 4 speed manual. It was cream color, black interior with wire wheels and headlight covers. Such a beautiful car. My dad had it shipped back to the US and drove it daily until the mid 80’s. I remember as a kid, my brother and I would lay in the trunk when we went to the drive in movies. I was really bummed when he sold it to buy an Iroc Z Camaro.

if D in RD stands for diesel then B in RB stands for benzin, makes perfect sense, well in my language anyway
This engine is RB26DETT, which stands for: RB-Nissan Factory Code, rumored to mean "Race Bred", -2.6L, D-Double overhead camshaft, E-electronic injection, TT-Twin Turbo

you link actually does not explain the RB - but I agree that "Race Bred" would be too English for a Japanese product. Gasoline is "ガソリン" (Gasorin), so Benzine is probably wrong- Diesel is ディーゼル (Dizeru) so could fit. The "R" could just stand for "Row", or it was free letter in the latin alphabet
B is for Buel, or Betrol, duh...

Plenty of museum examples not everybody needs to own one. I would swapped for a later 280ZX Turbo engine or Skyline RB26

If you actually mean to get one, do it now, because later...this car will cost more than an arm and a leg. Just recently, a shell in mint condition, so even less than what MCM has now in the video, was sold in Germany (auction) for 6kE. They are getting expensive.
:') I have 3 cars already... I can't afford another one now. Putting a fair bit of money aside for an american trip and plan to bring back #1 on the list. Nice little 68 charger, as long as body doesnt have holes through it i'm good. Just means more content for my channel aha.

MCM recap. One the one hand we are taking an RB26 and putting it into a 240 then on the other hand we have a Skyline and we are putting an LS into it. The common denominator not being Nissan, but rather the Magical Turbo Yoda. I can get behind all of this.

Oh the agony, oh the ecstasy! The Fairlady is so beautiful and so pristine that it’s almost a crime to put a different engine it. When Al said, “unpick the gearbox mount and move it back there somewhere”, part of my soul died. Then again, RB26 is what makes time travel possible and the show is called, Mighty car MODS. I guess an 11 second S30 would have an allure all its own. It’s gonna be a bright sunshiny day.
