If the story of Mr. Katsuji Kawamata's naming of the car is true, the car was named after he saw the 1958 Broadway performance of My Fair Lady - which means he would have seen either Julie Andrews (until Feb. 1958) or more likely, Sally Ann Howes, who played the role until the show's closure in 1962.
Because that doesn't make sense if you're Aussie. Zed-Unfairlady.

Awesome video guys! Racing side by side with a mate is whats its about. I spent many saturdays drag racing my buddy in sister trucks- I had a 1980 C10 chevy, and he had a 1979 C10 chevy.

You should call the fairlady Purity. With all the work you guys went through to keep the build pure and it being the sort of name you’d expect only on an older lady it seems like it fits pretty well.
Just call her "Eliza" after "Eliza Doolitle" from "My fair lady."
The car should be called Eliza. after Eliza Doolittle from My fair lady.. The name "Fair Lady" was given to the new sports car line by Mr. Katsuji Kawamata, President Of Nissan Motors Japan, after he attended the Broadway Musical "My Fair Lady" while visiting the US in 1958. He felt that the name would invoke an image of beauty for the car - because people would think of the beauty of the music and the leading lady in that Broadway Musical.

Absolutely love the Mighty Z, no matter what you decide to call it.
When I was in High school, a good friend of mine had a 240Z. It was a beautiful car until he wrapped it around a telephone pole. Fortunately, he wasn't hurt but the car was totaled. They do have a tendency to be light in the rear as you found out on the track.
Maybe another set of wheels and tires for track days would be good.

Yeah except Mr K who pushed for the production of the s30 in a time that Nissan wanted to stay station wagons and family cars hated that name which Nissan hq in Japan wanted to call it. The Nissan ceo visited the US and saw that musical and thought it would vibe well with the US market. It was changed to the 240z when imported to the United States because Mr K felt that the name fairlady was too soft of a name for the US market and it wouldn’t sell. And thus the iconic 240z was born

Sweet! Taking notes. I've got a '75 (USDM) 280Z I'm slowly working on resto-modding (also white incidentally). No RB in it (yet?) but I've gotten through the suspension and brakes at least. That RB motor sounds amazing. Did you guys mention the name of the track at some point?
