All the little things you do in between like cleaning and priming make this a high quality build. Even just straightening the roof lining hooks, makes all the difference. Can’t wait to see this van finished and you guys cruising Hawaii in it. Great build, thanks for sharing

I had no worries I knew Claudio would figure things out. Good thing you had that other 21 window bus alongside you though. When I was a welder fitter I worked with Drawings all the time, never had other things to view to figure things out. I'm surprised actually that Robert doesn't have drawing to observe these things to figure such problems out. You can identify things better at times, when your looking at drawings because you don't have things assembled which sometimes gets in your way of seeing what needs to be done to get a good fitment. Plus on drawings, they will specify these things that can be problematic.

The thing I have enjoyed about all of this, is the unique way things are cleaned up, banged into smooth clean lines, and just the skill everyone has in restoring something like this. Would love to swing by and visit. This has been so much fun to watch. Until next episode. Cheers.

Claudio is such a dude. What attention to detail. That said, I really want to see that lid on. Of course, that post only covered two working days, so you packed a lot into it!
It’s the pitfalls of restoring an old rusted out vehicle when things don’t go according to plan. Good thing you have a few sponsors to help out with the build cost, otherwise it would have been cheaper to buy one that is already been restored.
You never know what’s under that paint of those restored ones for sale .. seen some bad work

I've been watching kona's restoration since the beginning and have to say you have done one of the best jobs documenting it. I really enjoy watching the whole process. I too am a vdub guy I drove a 69 ghia in high school that I traded for a 61 splitty panel (do you believe I sold it for $800.00 usd running and driving, DOH! I know right! lol) And currently have a 66 sea blue beetle a Montana Red 7 passenger tin top and a 71 7 passenger sunroof deluxe. Anyway it's cool what your doing :)

Dope restoration but basically a replica with all the metal work. Probably could’ve bought the one you wanted for less than the price of labor/parts. Still a cool process to watch

You didn't have to remove the ID plate to clean it. Mask around it with masking tape and then clean it.
