Elantra is fantastic on long trips...can't say the same thing for Mazda or Civic...I've rented both and you get tired very easily after a few hours. The Elantra is the Cadillac of rides in the compact segment
silkhead44 you're right. it really seems like a little luxury car. seems weird to say that, but I have had my 2017 for a year now, and it is so quiet and smooth on the road. very nice.
@@stevefranklin8052 I feel the same way about my 2018 Elantra SEL. Even after more than a year of ownership at this point, I've always felt like it's much nicer than the "compact economy car" label leads one to expect. It looks classy. It drives smooth and quiet. It's very comfortable. Compared to what I'm used to in a car, it's even a bit fancy. I feel like I'm driving a small entry-level luxury car and I love that! This car lets me have my cake and eat it too. It's sophisticated, yet very cheap to run.
Why does everything have to drive sporty with these reviewers? I don't get it. Some of us who enjoy driving prefer something that's actually quiet and comfortable. The Elantra does a great job of this, and in my opinion, is a downright sexy economy car. It's not ghastly looking like the Civic or boring looking like the Corolla. The Elantra styling says "I'm sophisticated".
I swear! I just got mine yesterday & oh boy am I in love!!! I turn heads and all, so for these reviewers to be like “It’s not sporty like the Civic” makes me say F*ck that Civic I would take the Elantra over the Civic hands down its an amazing upgrade especially from a 2009 Ford Focus!
I own a new Sonata Sport. However, this week I rented a 2017 Elantra for about 4 days. It has only 20 miles on it, when I got it and about 900 miles on it, when it was returned. No, does not have sporty handling (I would have bought a Mazda 6, if that was a priority). What it does have is one of the smoothest rides I've ever experienced in a compact car, on par with the Toyota Corolla. Also, I owned a 2016 Civic for about two months, before switching it for the larger Sonata. The Elantra I rented was so much quieter than the Civic, had better seat support (got no thigh support from the civic) and accelerated almost as good as the Civic did. As for mileage, I immediately filled the tank and reset the trip odometer when I got the car. I average 41 mpg on the highway with that car, which is much higher than the reviewer is stating. But the main thing is the car felt larger and more substantial than the Civic. I knew it was a compact, but I actually felt like I was driving a mid-size sedan.
this guy doesn't like huyndai. bet he loves Honda and Toyota .it's not supposed to drive like a civic or Mazda 3. this is a comfortable car. the other 2 are performance cars, for the class. I'd much rather drive this across the country.
I haven't driven my 2018 Elantra SEL cross country, but I have taken it on a 7 hour one way trip. It was the perfect compact car for a long road trip. Quiet, comfortable and sipped fuel, getting right around 46mpg avg. I didn't have a sore butt or backache. That's saying a lot because I have hip and back problems. I do wish it had lumbar support though.
“The trunk is actually rather large...” Yes, let’s talk in ‘actual’ terms, please. And the comment about the front driver space being bigger than the rear passenger space in the Elantra when compared to a Civic or Corolla makes no sense to me. At 6’3”, I can comfortably fit my legs in the driving position in an Elantra...something I cannot do in the Civic or Corolla. I suspect the space in all three vehicles is very similar; it’s just that the front seat in the Elantra will roll further back than the other two, of course then making the rear seat space smaller. The Mom Jeans comment is pretty funny, but the rear end of the Honda or the Toyota is nothing to write home about either. So let’s not break into a sweat about advanced styling unless we’re looking at sport models across the board.
I hear great things about the sport model. It has rear independent suspension that really changes the ride and handling. It also has a 1.6 L Turbo power-plant that produces 201HP and 195 ft lbs. I bought my wife a 2015 Limited 3 years ago and we are very happy with it. 40 MPG on the highway on its best day but it’s usually in the high 30’s range. I’m taking it into my Dealer today for an oil change. I think I’ll drive a sport while I’m there. I have a company car but might buy myself a Veloster N when they come out later this year!!!
As someone who has owned an '17 Elantra Limited since new ( 7 years ). This car is super comfortable. It is a great traveling car. This video says it hasn't got to the 40 MPG yet. WRONG!! While it is rated for 37 highway, Mountain of TN I may get 35 while flat GA I can get 43. The trunk is large enough for everything my wife brings on the trip. Even on the limited trim, Some features must be options. Mine is a Limited but I do not have a sunroof or rear heated seats. I said this car is super comfy. I'm usually in the driver seat but sometimes I am in the passenger seat. I can not speak of the rear seats. I've never sat back there. The only negatives I would give this car is (1) The power is a little low. But, I'd expect that from a 2.0L engine that gets such good fuel economy. (2) there is a huge delay or lag in the response of the peddle. When taking off from zero. I've learned to hit the gas about 1-1/2 seconds before I want to go. I have rented a Sonata once. I didn't find it to be a noticeable amount larger. I did find it not to be as comfortable. I asked my son about the back seat. He is 15 and says its OK. He said we've had cars that was worst and the Toyota 4Runner we own he says is better.
How is the ride with the 17 inch wheels? I just bought an SE and the 6 speed manual and it has the 15 inch steel wheels, located both 16 and 17 inch alloys but haven't decided yet what I will go with????
I didn’t like this review at all. Like or dislike whatever, but it just came off as snobbish and critical of people for liking certain things about it.
Why buy? Maybe ide buy one if the ford factory was hit with tomahawk missle and there were no more focus's going to be made for 20 years, then maybe ide consider a hyundai while i wait for a good car.
Way late to this party, but still relevant to shoppers. Last gen Ford Focus is garbage. Run, don't walk away. Their dual clutch tranny is the stuff of reliability nightmares. The Elantra is actually quite a reliable car and people easily get 200k+ miles if properly maintained. I actually feel bad for people who bought the Focus. Ford did them dirty.
We’ve had this car for three years now and we still absolutely love it! Great car!

why you get easily tired? is that because of the chair? i heard honda heigh chair cant be adjusted

Exactly. It's as if everything is supposed to drive like a huracan.... I literally don't get it.
Might be getting one this Wednesday. If God pleases 🙏
@@rangergains394 did you end up buying an Elantra?

Feel like this guy was trying to degrade, if you just want a car that will get you to point a and b with out any problems the Hyundai is perfect car.
I use this car as a daily commuter. An hour to work and an hour back. It's perfect for that.

the 6 speaker stereo in the SE sounds great on the highway
Great looking car with perfect proportions.
beautiful car
I have a request can you do a car review on the more sportier Elantra sport?
Go drive a Hyundai Elantra sport and re do this review. It will change your mind
I love my value edition and it's my commuter car great on fuel and drives better than my honda 😁
What are you talking about? This design is downright sporty looking compared to the competition.
Just bought a red one. Im in LOVE
