Honestly @KlairedeLysMakeup when I was younger, I loved watching your makeup tutorials and when you played Phildel’s Mistakes, that was where I found Phildel. I just wished her music was more known, her songs are so underrated for such amazing music!
I'm pretty sure that she's singing about her personal life. Her mother married a new man who was strict on her when she was a little girl. Music wasn't allowed in the house and eventually she ran away from home and she's kind of singing to her mother.
I think you are right. but the "He" in the lyric could be the god, who locks and isolates women. as "Cos the only thing that saves you, Is your economy of blessings" and then the line "You know, you know he betrays you,"

Eliza Vang I got the same impression that she's singing to herself. Although I wasn't sure if the disappearance was referring to her childhood, coming of age (the girl is lost with her innocence), or if she hides away from the world. I don't know. It's a beautiful song with so much raw emotion.

Kind and warm, but the meaning of the words brutally true. What is their meaning reaching? What is this thing that feels completely entwined with this song...Oh right! Its my heart..

The extreme cropping of the figure and the way that her face is either obscured, cut in half, or left out altogether emphasizes both the feeling of drowning and the loss of identity and agency that unhealthy relationships can impose, while also adding to the compelling surreal atmosphere. I especially loved the portion at 1:35 where the woman, the manta ray, and music consecutively still.
I know there's a story behind this from the artist's personal life, but I didn't the first time I heard it. I remember thinking that this sounded like my response to every bad relationship my sisters and friends went through. I love the applicability of it.
