It's wild I had been religious for over 40 years and thanks to Mr. Diety and others have been able to laugh at myself and former short-sighted beliefs. When I found his site, his Lucy skits and stuff have been satirical and yet witty enough to help me realize at this age how poorly Christian beliefs hold up to critique and how cringe worthy my religious thinking used to be. It's wierd going from hard core religious nut job arguing against all contentenders to my faith (to include all the followers of other sects of the same general faith) to appreciating a humor-based sarcastic look at the same cringe religious rhetoric. Life is indeed strange. Thank you Mr. Atheist.

Excellent video. Truly witty. Some of your best work. One of my bugaboos is when Christians say, “God doesn’t send you to hell, you do.” And I say, “I do not choose hell”. God must do the sending which makes him/her (“it”? What do you call a non-existent being?) a moral monster.

Well, if there was heaven where I'd be happy, I'd do my best to opt out. If I'm happy when people I love might be in hell, then that's not me, and I'd be a moral monster as well, worse than literal nazis.
Of course I understand that there are a lot of people who would do anything to not end up on the torture and death side on things, which is why there were literal nazis, but there also were a lot of people who risked death and worse for their humanity and integrity. And nazis didn't win the war, so as much as I understand stupid cowardly decisions, I still think they're pretty awful and dumb decisions.
But yeah, the god or any other person who makes the system work that way is a moral monster and then some. We're literally told to give up our humanity for a chance to avoid torture and people throw it away for even less.
That example of WWII also confirms that absolute brainwashing in heaven is a must. Without it there would be billions of people rioting for actual justice and heaven would be a mess where especially theists who want to be happy forever would be very unhappy with the integrity that was allowed there.
And again, the abrahamic god(s) designed it that way, on purpose. The label "moral monster" is very much an understatement. The people worshiping it are moral monsters. The being itself would be orders of magnitudes worse.

Nothing in a universe created by an omnipotent and omniscient being could be anything other than EXACTLY as it intended; which would render that creator fully responsible for EVERYTHING... even the "horribly bad" parts. But don't worry -- your chances of spending eternity with such a monster are extremely small given that imaginary beings have an extremely low likelihood of existence.

I LOvE the throwback, I hadn’t watched this series in a decade! So glad he made new Deity content! The whole “I started to create several universes, but I instantly knew how they’d end, so why bother? So I had to turn it off, for the mystery!” aspect really made this series a legend!

In the interest of full disclosure, God should have told the poor fellow he was trying to get consent from that, at least according to the Calvinists (who can back it up with scripture), those who are going to heaven or hell was predetermined from the beginning, and there's really nothing anyone can do to change where their after-life ticket destination is going to be.

Guess we should ask this same question of Christian parents. If Original Sin and Hell are remotely possible, parents are monsters by default.
Indeed, I've taken the conscious decision not to bear offspring for this precise reason. I would be bringing them into what I view as a failing world, they have no consent in this matter, and that is unfair.

It's just groveling for a lack of torture. It's the worst and most abusive type of relationahip possible. And it encourages people to be happy about the torture of others and that their lives, personalities and accomplishmemts are reduced to examples of torture, and for what? For not groveling for a dictator that punishes integrity and empathy. There aren't even enough words to describe how disgusting and gruesome that is.
And people just go along with it, and say it's fine to beloeve whatever, and think it's weird if you point out that their humanity and integrity are worthless and that their credibility and reliability are below zero.
I happen to think that some basic integrity and humanity are not optional but mandatory if I am to trust someone with anything. And if other people think it's not, then it's their problem when it bites them in the ass, and they get no pity from me.
At the end of a meh Monday & nothing but bad news in the media I needed this!

Brian, has anyone ever told you that you are the most benevolent deity? Please, MISTER Deity was my father... in a metaphorical sense. No, no, he was uh... he was a pretty horrible Dad. I mean, he brought me to life with my only purpose being to die a pretty awful death, and he just drove me around like a meat suit for 99.999% of my life, and then noped out once the torture began. You know, between you and I... 👀 I'm not even sure this guy is my father. I don't know the logistics, but I'm definitely going to apply to go on Maury's "My Tri-Omni Dad SA'ed my Mom Vicariously via Angel and I Want a Paternity Test!" episode.

It only requires emotional consent. Thus, the structure of churches, temples, mosques and cathedrals... all are designed for emotional manipulation.

if i have free will (and i don't) a couple of things, A) no one can "give you" free will, it's yours or it's a con B) i can't have free will if someone else is dictating the rules, like "choose, heaven or hell". if i had free will i would have chosen never to have been born - i've had a great life, make no mistake, but it's been peppered with crap me, and those around me, never needed. also, if there was no suffering i wouldn't need my character (or soul) built to deal with suffering, er, cos there'd be no suffering to deal with.
