Another glow up tip: learn emotional intelligence. Being able to understand when someone is just angry at you because they're projecting their insecurities, or telling you you are something that you aren't because they're traumatised is honestly such a breath of fresh air because you realise, a lot of the time you aren't the problem, their misconception of you is. Their trauma coming out at you is ❤

posture, demeanor, speech matter so so much-- one of the best things I learned was to be intentional in selecting the words that leave my mouth, and to slow down when I talk. It forces people to pay attention and digest your words, and gives you a chance to do the equivalent of a spellcheck in verbal conversation. adds up to making someone "attractive" which is separate from being physically beautiful

Unfortunately, us girlies with curly and wavy hair aren't really taught how to deal with it. The tips we're given for hair by our peers are for that which is straight, so we end up thinking our hair is just a frizzy mess and brush it over and over again, giving it the straight hair treatment, trying to understand why it just _immediately_ frizzes back up. Knowing the proper routine for your hair is underestimated.

@@Beepbeep78 My advice is simply to watch as many videos as possible about how to take care of wavy hair then try it all out. Everyone has slightly different needs, budgets, and ability to buy certain products (e.g. you might struggle to get products from other countries depending on boring political/trade stuff). I've often found that recommended products don't do anything for me at all but they work for some other people, so it really isn't a one-size-fits-all and you have to be prepared to experiment a bit (but to save on money and time, it helps to seek out UA-camrs with hair as close to yours as possible). Ok I usually don't like how glow-up videos seem to implicitly put down a certain "before" version of someone, who just doesn't fit some conventional beauty standards. A lot of them encourage putting on a bunch of makeup, taking off your glasses, and putting in hours of effort to become "better" or more worthy aesthetically. I like how this video encourages good hygiene, comfortable speaking, and health, and just other really simple tips. I don't really agree with encouraging plastic surgery as a way to glow up (though I also don't have anything against people who do it). But overall there are some nice tips.

I’m a 17 year old gal and don’t really care in general but the one takeaway for me is to start talking more clearly, I needed the reminder. The rest is generic stuff though and I’m conflicted how I feel with these types of videos. Seeing the thumbnails feels like a clutter of voices telling me to glow up all the time- though gathering some knowledge helped at first. So yeah, Mae’s intentions aren’t from a bad place but girls are really impressionable and 90% of stuff online's unimportant.
7:57 I super agree!! I have this strong set of memories when I was a child, where this new girl joined my school and I was instantly thinking about how she was the prettiest girl I've ever seen and wondering what it was like to be that pretty. It turned out that she was a jerk- a massive bully, super judgemental and catty and just Mean. I didn't even notice it happen, but one day I looked back and thought "wow, I can't believe I thought she was pretty." Her personality got written all over her face! I will say, there are rare people who I think are so beautiful that they can get away with more before their personality over-rides their beauty- like sometimes it takes something specific or deeply personal to happen. I've also had a lot of experiences of thinking someone looked very plain or maybe even a little weird and then we end up becoming great friends and I just find them so pretty. I think having a good and kind personality and taking care of your personal hygeine is the simple glow-up most people end up going through once they figure themselves out a bit!
There's so much good information in your videos, I have two questions: 1) how do you recommend keeping track of all the things you want to do every day so that you don't forget and then end up neglecting yourself? 2) how did you do all these things before you had a good income? And if you can only afford certain things which are the most important?
this was very nice and inspiring, I have struggles with my bipolar disorder and even wash my face in the morning is hard some weeks. Thanks Mae, is nice to hear other visions about this topic.
Thankful for your voice, refreshing to hear a voice of upliftment. Affirmations are great and necessary for me but this takes it to another level. Thank you Mae
Already a few minutes into your video, and I love your energy and vibe! I clicked this video, not because I think I need a huge glow up for the perception of other people, but mainly just for me because I struggle to be happy when I look in a mirror. When you started on the "feeling like a sloth" bit, that resonated with me because that's exactly how I feel. I struggle to shower more than every other day because I am allergic to almost everything, including water. So washing dishes, showering, brushing my teeth, everything is immensely harder because I break out in hives that are so itchy and painful it feels like there's a thousand fire ants on my skin. However, you have inspired me to try more. I am currently googling for the longest gloves I can find that hopefully won't irritate my skin (elow-length ones somehow still et water/soaps in them). And I am also looking into some dry shampoo brands for people with sensitive skin and also perfumes! I do what I can now to stay clean on my off-shower days but most products don't work for me. So in short, thank you!
I only recently learned this but when you use perfume do not spray onto your clothes! I feel like I did that a lot. Instead spray it in the areas of your body that create heat. The folds of you arm. Behind your ear. On your chest if you wear a bra you kinda know what area produces heat more! I spray ur in between my breasts a little bit under, like the center of my stomach. And The area behind your knees. You are wasting perfume if you don't spray it on your skin. As you go out through our day your body will just exude that smell and wont wear off as fast!
@@hannemanisunderrated5610 same!!! it was only until i saw a TikTok recently from someone who works in the perfume department or a perfume store I can’t remember. and she was like guys u r wasting perfume if you put it on ur clothes u need to put it on ur body!!! n I was like omgggg ? it wasn’t until I took the advice n began to put it on my body that I was like. omg she was right. I had been doing it wrong my entire life
please be careful with spraying perfume near the breast area. perfumes are proven to cause breast cancer. it's better to avoid it entirely in that area.
If you hate running and cardio i suggest trying jumprope! It's a really effective exercise that engages your whole body, it can be done in a small space, and it's a really fun challenge to try and extend the amount of time you can go without messing up, or just how long you can endure. It takes a lot of focus, so it's kind of medidtative as well.
I just got into jumprope and I'm loving it! Actually can't wait to get home to do it. And I normally hate excercise 😂 I feel so energized and refreshed afterwards

One mistake in her advice is about hair! Please do not laminate your hair after bleaching, as it will completely damage your hair, leaving it in terrible condition. Additionally, she is only referring to Asian hair, so girls from Europe should focus on the middle part of her advice. Asian hair is four times stronger than European hair and twice as strong as Black hair.

I was told I needed surgery on my hands because of this immobilizing pain I was having. I also was having cysts form on my tendons in my hands. I had my psychiatrist tell me to try drinking water. I was like excuse me? But I started to get in the habit of drinking the amount of water I need a day and the cysts and pain went away 🤯 Literally my body just didn’t have water to function properly. Saved me a whole surgery. Not saying everything can be fixed with water but it does do a lot TL:DR Drinking water is magical for the body in many ways and saved me from having a surgery
Great video! It’s crazy how people treat you differently after a glow up though. I think it makes you a better person if you grow up ugly/unattractive and you glow up later in life :)
No, actually it didn't make me a better person. I'm hyper aware of what my looks can get me, and I empathise less with people now because now I know for sure that it is all about my looks, not who I am.
At first while watching this, I was thinking wow, it’s so much to keep up with and it’s a little overwhelming. However I if I don’t treat myself like the radiant woman I am, how do I expect anyone else to? Love this energy and want to start doing these tips going forward ✨
littel disclaimer: please do some research on thyroid problem symptons, it's every time more common and a disbalance can produce symptons similiar to depression and anxiety. Also, if you have thyroid problems, cardio is not good for you! You can take a blood exam to know about your thyroid levels and discover if it's producing the hormones you need. If it's producing too much or too little, it can be very problematic! Great video, all tips are really helpful!
@@ginevrapoletti679 Of course cardio works! But what you must have in mind is that nothing will work until you find the right dose of medication for your thyroid to function properly, if hormones are all over the place, then it doesn't matter how much you work out you will not see results . If you exercise by doing both aerobic and anaerobic combined, you will get much better results but I think that applies for everyone.
@@mac.2009 I had left a comment with a link about it but it seems to be deleted. Anyways, a quick search of "is cardio bad for thyroid problems" will give you some recent studies to read about it.

There's so much good information in your videos, I have two questions:
1) how do you recommend keeping track of all the things you want to do every day so that you don't forget and then end up neglecting yourself?
2) how did you do all these things before you had a good income? And if you can only afford certain things which are the most important?
this was very nice and inspiring, I have struggles with my bipolar disorder and even wash my face in the morning is hard some weeks. Thanks Mae, is nice to hear other visions about this topic.
Yes! My hope is that everyone who reads this and watches this Glows Up 💖✨
Thankful for your voice, refreshing to hear a voice of upliftment. Affirmations are great and necessary for me but this takes it to another level. Thank you Mae
My to-do list:
Speak from abs area
Gaze
Film and notice mannerisms
Body awareness and control
you got this!
@@downwardbrainspiral🤍🤍 thank you 🌼have a wonderful day
Everyone is beautiful
As you go out through our day your body will just exude that smell and wont wear off as fast!
thanks for this advice, it's really helpful 😊
Oh thanks for the advice, I was told the opposite 😅 that spraying on clothes could help hold the smell more
@@hannemanisunderrated5610 same!!! it was only until i saw a TikTok recently from someone who works in the perfume department or a perfume store I can’t remember. and she was like guys u r wasting perfume if you put it on ur clothes u need to put it on ur body!!!
n I was like omgggg ? it wasn’t until I took the advice n began to put it on my body that I was like. omg she was right. I had been doing it wrong my entire life
I read if you put vaseline first and then perfume it will last longer too!
please be careful with spraying perfume near the breast area. perfumes are proven to cause breast cancer. it's better to avoid it entirely in that area.
I’ve always been afraid my crooked nose makes me so ugly this helped my confidence so much
I love this 0.5-ish video angle❤❤
If you hate running and cardio i suggest trying jumprope! It's a really effective exercise that engages your whole body, it can be done in a small space, and it's a really fun challenge to try and extend the amount of time you can go without messing up, or just how long you can endure. It takes a lot of focus, so it's kind of medidtative as well.
I just got into jumprope and I'm loving it! Actually can't wait to get home to do it. And I normally hate excercise 😂 I feel so energized and refreshed afterwards
It’s important to learn your color season. Then only wear those colors because they look best on you.
This is beyond value. 💯
I can tell a lot of work and detail went into it and it shows. I say every YT vid needs to fit to this gold standard. ⚜️
I also second that everything she said in this video is ESSENTIAL for glow up.
Shes real.💎
Thank you Mae!!!

@@naomi2389 Thank you!!
Mae thank you so much for all of your tips! I must say I am usually skeptical about these glow-up type videos because often they advice is superficial, but I found myself really loving this video because it was clear how extensive and reasonable your advice was. You really touched on everything that can make us more attractive. Thanks :)
Your place looks so refreshing, I love it!!
Respect girl❤️ lots of respect 4 u- keep up the good work.
thank you for so much information! I made a list of all the things you inspired me to do or try out so that my little brain will remember these goals towards practicing self-love
Your videos give me so much clarity 🙏🏻 glow up in progress
i love the cameo from the little black cat!

thank you so much for sharing this!! i love seeing how many views and comments you already have on your videos even though you just posted, you deserve so much success
Girl, you were beautiful before your glow up too! its society that has scewed views on beauty. everyone is beautiful
No serious lol me and my black curls couldn’t relate 😭 I was wondering if anyone was gonna bring this up lol
thank u for this vid
I’m so early, it’s gonna be good content as always aha ❤
i trust ur words because u are so beautiful and look so healthy
I’ve just stumbled upon your content and I’m loving it so far, you’re so straight forward and have such positive energy!
and btw girl you are really STUNNING💕
You're an amazing person! Thank you for this video, showing us it costs nothing to really glow up :) anyone can do it, and thank you for explaining that
You are my new favourite UA-camr Mae. Everything you say is so insightful and resonates with me. Could you do a make up tutorial? ❤
Such a great guide, Mae Alice! These micro habits are so practical and easy to incorporate into daily life. It's amazing how small changes can make such a big impact on how we feel and present ourselves. Thanks for the motivation and the discount code too-definitely going to check out Scentbird!
Even though these things seem obvious it was super helpful and super nice to have this being the messages I take in
If your reading this your beautiful, inside and out :)
Thank you! This is so helpful, the tips are not basic but very useful and necessary! You explained everything so well 💋💗
I will sayy that being kind to people worked against me. It cost me my mental health. So now I'm kind if you're kind type of person.
Can u teach us how to do ur make up cause it looks so freaking gorgeous😊
you're so amazing
I was told I needed surgery on my hands because of this immobilizing pain I was having. I also was having cysts form on my tendons in my hands. I had my psychiatrist tell me to try drinking water. I was like excuse me? But I started to get in the habit of drinking the amount of water I need a day and the cysts and pain went away 🤯
Literally my body just didn’t have water to function properly. Saved me a whole surgery.
Not saying everything can be fixed with water but it does do a lot
TL:DR
Drinking water is magical for the body in many ways and saved me from having a surgery
“If you feel like a sloth right now” 😭
me too girl me too, cheers to the people who worked for it
Great video!
Peaking when you're young seems like a waste of youth.
@@DiamondsRexpensive That sounds a lot like your problem and no one else's.
wow this video was so in depth and really covered all the bases thank you so much
Instant subscribe JUST from seeing that thumbnail pic😂💀💀💀
At first while watching this, I was thinking wow, it’s so much to keep up with and it’s a little overwhelming. However I if I don’t treat myself like the radiant woman I am, how do I expect anyone else to? Love this energy and want to start doing these tips going forward ✨
love this 😻😻 thanks so much Mae!!
littel disclaimer: please do some research on thyroid problem symptons, it's every time more common and a disbalance can produce symptons similiar to depression and anxiety. Also, if you have thyroid problems, cardio is not good for you! You can take a blood exam to know about your thyroid levels and discover if it's producing the hormones you need. If it's producing too much or too little, it can be very problematic!
Great video, all tips are really helpful!
That is absolutely true! But how could cardio interfere with it? I suffer from thyroid issues but nobody ever told me about cardio
Wait how is cardio not good for those with thyroid problems?! I have never heard tis before but I've had thyroid issues since third grade!
@@mac.2009 I had left a comment with a link about it but it seems to be deleted. Anyways, a quick search of "is cardio bad for thyroid problems" will give you some recent studies to read about it.
My mom and sibling have hypothyroidism and I always think I do too because I never have any energy but my blood tests always come back normal...

noooo dont look at me and end my life with your abg exploding heart technique 😍💥
Moving elegantly is probably the hardest thing for me, no matter how hard I try due to my disabilities I tend to limp or stomp one foot and it just doesn’t look good 😂
haha same i have dyspraxia, lymphedema, and probably other things. but i’m a model if that gives you any hope
Stretches where possible will at least broaden the range of motion, so you’re not as locked in.
Aiming for more smooth (even if slow) should help project it💖
Also posture/aura when sitting counts for a lot✨
Very helpful 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
