- It's the first day of 2024 and Matt is out for a solo duck hunt over an ice hole. Ducks have been scarce lately but Matt sticks it out and is rewarded with some beautifully decoying mallards throughout the day. A great duck hunt to start the new year.

These quick solo hunt videos are great! They are relatable as many days even one small group of decoying ducks is still worth the effort. I never understood the focus on “making it rain” and “piles” it’s just stupid. Sitting in silence while a lone Greenhead silently cups and commits is one of the greatest experiences in waterfowling.

Our season is over here in Michigan and it was a hell of a struggle this season. Lack of weather gave us a lack of birds. But with some hard work and determination I did ok. Best of luck on the remainder of your season Matt

What a great start of the year 2024! Location location location! Movement movement movement in the spread with your springer decoy, make the solo land so close to it! A great video again, I love ALL your solo hunt because I have the impression that I am hunting with you, l am in your hiding hole in the cattails! Glad I found your channel, you show hunting like ours, 1-2 guys maybe killing a limit or most times a couple of ducks and still an awesome hunt. And with the goal of only shooting decoying, landing ducks. Also, I have been waterfowl hunting over 40 years and my Dad and I are the only people I know that hung with a 20 gauge. What decoys are you mostly using? Are they final approach or Dakota? I was out today and picked up 2 mallards all morning. Missed a few geese. But a day out on the marsh is better than a day at work.

Why did you go with an Ethos rather than the super black eagle 3?
I bought the Ethos before the SBE3 was released. Now have both. The SBE3 has a lot of issues.
