Parents are always the best. You are so lucky to be so spoiled. The books all sound so good. I don't read a ton of historical fiction, but anything to do with royalty is always great.
I read Austenland for my Pride and Prejudice Adaptations class. It was a lot of fun and enjoyed it a lot. Also, it was made into a movie with Jennifer Coolidge and it was a really good too!
If you’re interested in English royalty one of the best authors I can recommend for non fiction is Alison Weir. She is mostly the Tudor era but she has done few others as well. She looks at history mostly through the eyes of women rather than their more famous husbands. She’s really easy to read too x
As an addition to The Fortune Hunter and the Accidental Princess, if you're interested, you could check up the old Sissi movies with Romy Schneider (she also was in another movie where she played Queen Victoria). They're kind of cheesy, but enjoyable and a classic to watch in Christmas season. I loved them as a kid, still do, and have always been interested in her life. Gotta be aware though that they are not historically accurate. There are so many myths surrounding her, her life got kind of romantizised, when it seemed to have been pretty tragic actually. I've been to Vienna in summer and visited the Sissi museum there, it was really interesting e.g. you could read some of her poetry and see the reeeally thin waisted dresses she wore in person. I'm curious what you say about the books after reading them or about the movies if you watch them!
Oh my gosh Kate Morton is my favorite author!! The Forgotten Garden is my favorite but The House At Riverton comes in a close second! They are both tied for my second favorite book of all-time. They used to be tied for number one, but I realized I had to make The Bell Jar number one. Hope you like it!!!
For some reason I'm also super interested about the Brontë sisters even though I've only read Wuthering Heights. I have Charlotte's and Anne's books though.
Girl, any Kate Morton book will definitely satisfy your cravings for a good historical fiction- mystery-romance story. My favorite historical fiction author by leaps and bounds! Sending love from South Africa x
I absolutely love the Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton it's one of my all time favorite books!!!! Also I can't wait to hear what you think of the muse because I really wanna read that one!
Haha I’m currently in AP European History and this week we started learning about the French Revolution an era that I’m not too familiar with as an American high school student but I’ve just been introduced to Marie Antoinette I want to definitely-I pick up that book to learn more
Sisi /Empress Elisabeth is a really interesting character! I also want to read the book by Daisy Goodwin, I hope it portrays her in a good way and not to cheesy. She actually had a rather dark character
AGHHHI!!!! Charlotte's Web was the first novel I ever read when I was 6! So happy you have it now! And happy you got the same version I read lol. Also, I was going through my book shelves the other day because I was donating some books and came across my Winnie the pooh book and it hit me right in the childhood feels
Hi . I’m ordering eleven books tomorrow. Can’t wait . I love books and got loads . And I love your videos. And the way you talk about books. Your looking very beautiful xx🌹
Sorry for commenting so much. Please keep us updated on how you're liking branching out with your reading. I really think it would help others because so many people are stuck in their ways about what kind of books they like. Nothing wrong with that but it's nice when people discover a love for new things 😊
Every time I think of Winnie the Pooh now, I can only think of that one part of Jane, Unlimited. It's like a thing that changes your whole childhood feel about things. Haha.
If you’re looking for more children’s books to read, I recommend anything by Sharon Creech. Her books were my favorites when I was 10-12, especially Chasing Redbird, Ruby Holler, and Absolutely Normal Chaos.
Ok, please can someone explain why American/Canadian book covers have a bit missing from the right side (on paperbacks)?? ~I’m from the UK and I’ve never seen book cover formats (?) like that before...... does it mean something??? 0_0 E.g. 8:39 , 9:43 , 10:09
That's how some paperbacks are made. The part them seems like its missing some is put on top of another cover usually a solid color, picture, or words.
if you have read the book 'The Accidental Empress' you should read the 2nd book of Allison Pataki about Empress Elisabeth which is called 'Sissi: Empress On Her Own'
I really want to read Austenland! I saw the movie a while ago (before I realized it was a book too) and I really liked it, so I am looking forward to checking out the book and the sequel soon. -emma
Hailey I think you would really enjoy Outlander by Diana Gabaldon! It has fantasy, history, and romance among other things, and the whole series is completely addicting
Oh Hailey, please read The Muse! It's SO GOOD! I read it last year in a day and i never she up about it, it was soooo good. I liked The Miniaturist ok too, but it was a bit all over the place - The Muse is just so... Please read it 😁
Great Video! I got so many amazing books for Christmas (including The Book Thief, Six of Cross, The Raven Boys and The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender)
If you're interested in more Queen Victoria movies, "The Young Victoria," is AMAZING!!! It's on Netflix and it's written by Julian Fellowes who created Downton Abbey (so you know it's good).
I only got 1 book this Christmas, it's the least amount I've gotten EVER. But I have run out of room on my bookshelves, so that's potentially a good thing?? I've read Victoria! It was interesting to see her as a young woman because she's often portrayed when she was older and a lot more stern. "We are not amused" and all that.
Loved the haul! All of the books sound amazing! I just wanted to point out that Sissi is pronounced a bit differently: You said it like See-see but it's more like sis so like the abbreviation of sister and and then the 2nd i is pronounced like a short e and the first syllable is emphasized
If you are interested in sissi, there are 3 movies about her life as empress. They are in German, but maybe you can find them with english subtitels. The movies are sissi, sissi die junge kaiserin and sissi schicksalsjahre einer kaiserin. I love these movies. You can find these movies on UA-cam in German .
At first I was wondering who you meant by "Cece" until I realized you were talking about Sisi. I only know the name with the first syllable pronounced shortly as it is an nickname for Elizabeth and can be compared to how you'd pronounce Lissy :D (although the emphasis is definitely on the first syllable... Gosh German is my mother tongue, it's my major but nevertheless I'm confused about it right now😅) to come to a point, I find it rather amusing hearing a well-known name pronounced totally different 😁
OMG YOU BOUGHT A KATE MORTON BOOK. I'm definitely more of a ya gal but she's my go to adult author. The forgotten garden wasn't my favourite so if you don't like it please be sure to read The Lake House and/or The Secret Keeper!!!
Amazing video 😄😍 definitely gonna put some of these books on my TBR Just how you said Sissi makes me cringeee sorry 🙈🙈 the ss (sometimes only one s) in the middle is stressed... Or rathe rnot like si si but siss oli Hard to explaine somehow Native speaker here
I am always so jealous to see people recieve these books from bookoutlet in such good condition. I am ready to give up on bookoutlet myself, as every book I ever order comes to me damaged and crushed. It is so incredibly frustrating.
Hello, I am new to your channel and after watching a few videos I am curious if you have read "Cathy's Book" by Stewart/ Weisman/ Brigg. It is set up as a teenage girls diary and has evidence to accompany her story. It is a really interesting mystery.
I'm a 24 year old guy, and I'm not ashamed to admit that Winnie the Pooh taught me how to love. Also, I just remembered that the librarian that suggested Bucking the Sarge to me spoiled the climax. It's a good book, but the ending had less punch because of it. It was years ago, but I'm still upset.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Reawakened since it had a very instalove relationship in it. There were some good parts but overall just wasn't the best. I really want to read If We Were Villains because I love Shakespeare!!!
Have you ever read The Diary of a young girl by Anne Frank? But it’s a non fiction set during WW2 and a true story. I’d defiantly recommend it! Great haul!
I'm so ashamed to say that I found her diary boring and I have never finished reading it but I do own it and I'm planning on reading it again in the future. But like it's ten times worse because I'm dutch, I've been to the anne frank house twice or even 3 times & I went to a play about her😅
I want to read more adult and I'm actually reading it by Stephen king and I'm loving it so much. Highly recommend it. But I want to read more adult horror
I loved The Forgotten Garden!! I found it had the right balance between elements I could guess and elements I couldn't. It's a lovely story.
Parents are always the best. You are so lucky to be so spoiled. The books all sound so good. I don't read a ton of historical fiction, but anything to do with royalty is always great.
The Smell of Other People's Houses is soo good! One of my favorite reads of last year!
I read Austenland for my Pride and Prejudice Adaptations class. It was a lot of fun and enjoyed it a lot. Also, it was made into a movie with Jennifer Coolidge and it was a really good too!

AGHHHI!!!! Charlotte's Web was the first novel I ever read when I was 6! So happy you have it now! And happy you got the same version I read lol. Also, I was going through my book shelves the other day because I was donating some books and came across my Winnie the pooh book and it hit me right in the childhood feels
If We Were Villians, is really good it's not a Hamlet retelling but about a mystery students studying Shakespeare. Hope you enjoy it!
I'm glad you picked up The Forgotten Garden. I hope you love it.
I loved The Smell of Other People's Houses!

I'm reading Reawakened right now and it's so good so far!😍

THE MUSE IS SO PRETTY
Hope you enjoy Victoria! I love the tv show. The book was actually written after the tv show, I think...
Forgotten Garden!!! Everything by Kate Morton is amazing!!!
If you’re looking for more children’s books to read, I recommend anything by Sharon Creech. Her books were my favorites when I was 10-12, especially Chasing Redbird, Ruby Holler, and Absolutely Normal Chaos.
You just reminded me of my childhood love for the Sisi movies (that I really need to rewatch). Interested to hear your thoughts on both those books!
Ok, please can someone explain why American/Canadian book covers have a bit missing from the right side (on paperbacks)??
