    My goodness. I went to the five and dime store as a child and bought these candies.
    Three for a penny. They were colorful and delicious. I put them in my little sisters stocking.
    Lol. What fun. Thanks for a nudge to my heart from a beautiful innocent time from the past Dale. Sweet.
    No pun intended. ♥️🕊🙏🫖☕️

    This recipe is great. I made it for thanksgiving and wanted the juju candy. I replaced it with gummy bears. It was so pretty and delicious 😋! Also you are right about confectioners sugar. It kept it from sticking, and looks a little snowy. Also packs in the little treat bags you can buy to fill as gifts and it looked terrific ! 10 👍 up! I want to try it now with salted pecans.

    I'm going to try this with toasted pecans instead of the gum drops. I'll probably make a 1/2 batch because all my holiday gatherings are cancelled this year. I think the nougat base would be compatible with all kinds of substitutions. The gum drops are so pretty though, like little stained glass windows.
    Thanks for another great idea for the season!

    We are a microwave free household but I found that a large glass bowl placed over the opening of my instant pot, with the setting on low saute and 2 cups of water in the liner makes a great water bath. Switch to warm and it will stay tempered for as long as you need! Works well for many confectionery needs.

    • @DaleCalderCampobello
      @DaleCalderCampobello  3 роки тому +1

      I just made my Tablet and was thinking about the problem that you had. I don't think it was because the sugar didn't melt I think it might have been over cooked . If you have a candy thermometer the temperature that you are trying to reach is 240F or a little above. Continued cooking removes more moisture and the sugar will crystallize again. Hope that helps.
