I agree. I am always curious as to how clean and well lubed Seagull (and other Chinese) movements are when they are manufactured. I have seen some teardowns showing dust and foreign matter in brand new Chinese brand watches, but I always wonder how much of that is from the movement manufacture and how much is from unclean conditions in the factory where the movement is cased.
It's definitely not a watch I would wear but always good to see something new. That's a great little trick popping the crystal out with the compressor!
You know mate that’s one of the best watch reviews I’ve seen and I watch a lot and have made a few myself. Hilarious throughout but you still manage to get technical and to show is all how it’s working. From the slightly salty bogey, the shower scene and then the cuff shot where you have just cut a arm off a shirt 😂😂 I bet you guys had a right laugh making that video. Hats off to you.
You are definitely not an average “joe” . Your world view and appreciation of the art of watches is truly extraordinary. We are blessed to have your opinions of watches and life.
Please don't stop your videos because of the madness going on at the moment, your videos are a tonic for me and no doubt a lot of other folks out there giving us a bit of a laugh as well as marvel at your skills.
I particularly like your display cuff! Had not realised it was so practical. I like the look of the watch, and especially liked it with the mesh band you showed. I also have a watch reading issue, and have found that a good contrast between the hands and the dial is all I need. My current watch has mirror polished steel hands, and a matte pale grey dial, and the combination of finish and “colour” works well. Thirty jewels seems a bit over the top, almost twice as many as usual. You should take a look. Oh, and I bet numbers 0001 and 0002 are in the company vault, or on,the CEO’s wrist.
12:57 The lime green strap is boss. Also, this style of review, where the object under review is dissected for the audience; is ideal for watches and other adult playthings. It lets us see the guts of the watch and decide for ourselves if they've taken any shortcuts or left out anything vital.
Nekkid Watchmaker, you are one of the best watch reviewers! This is proven by the fact you got me to buy a Tag Heuer Aquaracer recently without even meaning to do a review on it! - It was only a throw away comment you made about one of your early watches that got me looking at them and I absolutely love it!!! Thank you man!
Dude, once again a video filled with the mechanics of a timepiece and a genuine message filled with hope, from the heart for mankind. Beautifully done sir!
Thanks for this review! It’s so refreshing to have a really independent view on things, .. and you style make all remember how there is still people with a soul in this difficult times for all earthlings
I have to say this is by far the best watchmaking related channel I have ever seen. I love the commentary and the memes that come from your videos. Keep them coming my friend! Cheers from Texas.
I've made many watches since i saw your first video and fell in love with watches , you thought me few more things today master . love what you do .love your kindness .
I don't know a thing about watches but I love watching your videos..love your outlook on life and our world..please make the full teardown..God bless you and your family...
I'd have to give up a lot of old Jaguar parts to purchase that watch. I never go anywhere fancy enough to warrant that kind of watch. That said, it's nicely done, something different, and reviewed excellently.
This isn't primarily a time piece, its jewelry that tells time. If all we want is time keeping we can buy a seiko or timex and have years of pain free service. This is a statement, a look at me, somthing to talk about at the bar or party. I suspect that most people who wear it will look at their phone if they want to know the time. for what it is I think its fantastic.
This a statement look at me, look at my 'watch' watch it, it might do something well in a moment... wait...wait... hold on, just a little longer... there! see it? no? oh well YOU obviously dont understand horology.
Hahaha... an amazing review. Brief, rugged, and as always, perspective stands. That is the type of watch one would expect to see Jacob & Co pricing on. To see you strip it down a bit, and the possibility of a full strip-down and putting together is an exciting thought that could give a rumbly tummy, but your confidence as you detached the flat world, and the success of it, gave much confidence. So yes to the total strip down review to set precedence to possible servicing. Thanks, buddy! Blessing
Well now you’ve gone and done it. You did a great job with this review and we will all expect more reviews with more of your wonderful insight. By the way you’ve got a big pair for tearing into a brand new $1000 watch like that!!! Great work as always. Thank you. And please do a full tear down
Watchmaking (& you in particular) are a beacon of calmness and stability in these turbulent times. Thank you for these videos, they might have more impact than you'd imagine.
Yes please, break it down and show us the side by side! I really enjoy your videos. And watching you expertly open that up was a treat. Seems to me they want to keep repairmen like yourself out of there 🤔, so it was very satisfying to see such a tidy technique used to jump their hurdle 🙂
All the best to you and yours during this festive season and for the future. Love the humour, the detail, the lack of production production, and the hand model wardrobe. You have a new subscriber.
Now ETA wants broken movements to be send directly to them for repairs and they refuse to supply parts to small repair shops. So yes, please make a teardown and comparison video and let us know if paying more for the original 2824 has any benefits over getting Seagull 2824.
It's true ETA don't service directly or sell small parts but a lot of the companies that use their movements do service and repairs. My Tissot Seastar went for an small fix in warranty (lost the lume pip on the bezel) and they first try to service the movement but it was still not running within specs and they changed it for free. The powermatic 80 is basically a 2824 (or 2826 I am not sure) with a slower frequency
A really pretty interesting design at that price range to be sure. It is however a tad too big for my taste and my wrist, as I always feel like big watches on a small wrist are kind of vulgar. Makes me feel like a footballer wearing the biggest watch he can find to show-off ;)
The only issue for an independent servicing this watch in the future is the minute wheel has been re-geared to a different ratio than standard, so if that part breaks and the company isn't around to get new parts the independent will have to make a new gear.
We invented a brand-new mechanical movement. On the typical movement 30° rotation of the hour hand followed by a 360° rotation of the minutes hand. We developed a new gear ratio, on which the hour hand(the earth) rotates by 30° and the minute chapter ring rotates by 390°. The original technology was named “Asynchronous-Follow”. Unlikely available separately, unless you buy the whole mechanism
The good and the bad. the good: it seems fairly accurate and robust. The bad: it’s way too big for most people. Personally, I stop at 43mm DIA X 15mm thick. The time telling scheme is awkward. The numerals are too small and for someone my age, illegible. Plus, I really don’t want the bulk of my watch dial to be a semi-3D representation of the Indian Ocean. Overall, I would not look twice at this watch. But, that’s just me.
I agree, I suggest they take off the divisions in the outer dial (they are useless and clutter up the display) and put only larger numbers. Also, they could make uk centered worlds, japan centered worlds, australia centered worlds etc.
Great review Joe. Good to see that your opinions, and skills regarding watches, are becoming recognised. A very nice piece, and I wonder if they're going to produce an 'Atlantic' version?
I have to admit Joe, you made me laugh out loud when I saw your shower scene! I'm not even an amateur tinkerer, everything I know about watches has come from subscribing to your channel. Honestly, I'm just here for the great banter, the interaction with your kids and your brilliant humanity. Sending much love to you and yours from Melbourne Australia
If I could have a second expensive watch, I would consider something unique like this, but as I can only afford one watch at a time that's over $1000 (US) I would likely go with a more traditional style. Very nice looking watch though.
Watching this is exactly why you are the only watch repair channel I still subscribe to. Your awesome dude. I will follow you to the end. And I agree, I hope this world comes to its senses.
Thanks mate for sharing this video, I would never buy something that expensive to wear on my wrist, but your style and attitude brings me back to your videos and I wasn't disappointed at any time.
Its time like these that its nice to have a place to go and get away from all the disaster. My youtube has been full of( ill say conflict ) and not enjoyable. Im glad you chose to put this video out. We can all come together and enjoy something we love together even from different parts of the" GLOBE". See what i did there.
Great video and review. Thank you. Id love to see a side by side and learn more about how they have “improved” upon an existing movement, and what is it that they have done to win this award. While I appreciate the attempt to do something different, and the sentiment of this watch, its a little too impractical and the design is not my thing. Nice craftmentship though. Thanks again. Great video.
Every time I see a mechanism of any kind that is unusual my first instinct is to take it apart to see how it works. Thank you for satisfying my curiosity. There are also some things that your viewers will never be able to unsee! No curiosity there!
I watched your video for the first time and I found it most interesting and enlightening! Though I will never be buying this watch, or anything even remotely close to its value, I’ve definitely appreciated your craftsmanship and knowledge and even your witticisms and comedy throughout the video. Hello to the little guy that said, “supper is ready daddy quote❣️❣️ and I loved the half sleeve shirt♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️😊Very enjoyable video good luck in the future. You clearly or a very gifted watch maker and repairman I assume!!
1. I love the man doing all those fantastic videos. 2. I love seeing him doing hardcore reviews of any kind of watch as well as a complete breakdown of this special one. 3. I don‘t love him singing, especially under the shower, because this might cause disruptions to the technical equipment of that shower and therefore could harm its user (as a kind of revenge), which has to be absolutely avoided. 4. I‘m looking forward to the next review/ service/ lathe restoration impatiently. 5. All the best to him and his family !!!
Yep I'd like to see a side x side. On another matter, I went over to a friends house for dinner last night and told him about your channel. We ended up watching two of your vids on my phone. He was just mesmerized by the complexity - me not so much as I'm a mechanic and a watch is no more complicated than say an automatic transmission but I appreciate the mechanical skill required by watchmakers albeit in miniature. Skills of a watchmaker is more than just the mechanicals I see. I like the other tasks a watchmaker needs like polishing, fixing quartz watches, de rusting and the bracelet work part of your vids a lot. What mesmerizes me is the small size of the componentry and fasteners and your steadiness of your surgeon like hands. I found you because I like mechanical watches. My son and I both have automatic Swiss watches.
What a funky watch! All watch reviews should include the salty booger test, but only of the 2yr old variety. I still haven't understood how to read the crazy thing. Perhaps it's because I was hypnotized by the shower scene?! Fantastic air compressor popping *click action!!!! Now let's have that side by side breakdown!
To anyone wondering if they stand behind their products, here's an anecdote: I received my blue planet watch weeks ago and 2 days after I started wearing it I noticed the back crystal was cracked. No idea how it happened, did not drop it or anything. Needless to say I was freaking out and was convinced they would let me out to dry when reaching out to them for a warranty claim. 3 days after sending the email so ciga support I was asked to provide a video of the watch and send it via wetransfer. Ciga acknowledged the watch needed repairs and that it would be covered. They then offered me to send in the watch or have them send a new backplate with 50usd to have it fixed in my country, I chose the latter. I was never expecting this in a million years tbh. Dunno of I was lucky but I'm quite pleased with my watch now and might event buy one of their new models down the road.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Please do a comparison. I’m looking forward to your digger deeper into the mechanics of this watch. There is no way these challenged eyes could possibly “read” the time. My summery: it is a bracelet mocking a timepiece!
That is the first watch review I truly appreciated. The two-year old test proves a level of ruggedness, but it isn’t clear if it proves ruggedness to survive the dreaded “seven-year old show and tell day at school” test that my grandson ably administers. Novel design, but appreciate more the deep, genuine engineering the Swiss execute in their products. Thank you, Joe. And thank you for your humanity during troubling times.
Marvellous! I know nothing about watches, and have no aspirations for anything other than my cheap Marks and Sparks one, but I enjoy watching for your amazing skill, dexterity, knowledge and humour. You seem a lovely chap and your content is always interesting and relaxing. Thank you!
UPDATED, - see below. Thanks for the funny AND extremely informative video! I recently bought the gilded version of this watch, it arrived defective, and since the company has zero support and plays dead, and I was unable to return it to Amazon (I live abroad), your vid gave me the right idea how to approach the problem. Looks like they managed to stick the flat earth in slightly slanted, so it runs well from 8 am to 2 or 3 pm, and then the resistance gets to strong and the watch stops. Quite a joke at this price point, but thanks to your breakdown I am confident I can fix this little beauty myself... 😬 Update: CIGA support DID wake up after a few more days, and after I sent them a demo video of the malfunction they were helpful and agreed to send me a replacement. So I will return the old watch to them for the autopsy after I get a working one, instead of torturing it with my rather limited watchmaker skillz... LOL
Loved it! You’re the only watch maker I watch, no pun intended. Amazing skill, informative and very funny too. Hope the family are all ok, blessings from my mad house to yours brother 👍🏻
Hi Joe, Many thanks for your great review - put a smile in my face! You`re a great guy, and I very much would appreciate seeing a Seagull versa Seagull breakdown. So, if you can find the time, please do it! All of us peace-loving tinkerers are eagerly waiting for it!
Your videos are a short escape to serenity. I hope you keep them coming. Even as difficult as it may be at this time of uncertainty. Thank you Joe and Little Alien. ....and thank you Accountant, I know your the brains behind it all.
I started laughing when ‘the Trouble Maker’ said to ‘get a grip man’! I did forget to look at the watch during the shower scene. This is a watch one wears for appearance not utility. I couldn’t read the time, but if I’m going for something to wear to make a statement in a meeting or a club this would be it.
Your son is terrific! This was fun to watch, more to see how you decided to remove the works than any interest in the watch. (and of course, the shower scene) When wristwatches stop being instruments for quickly and easily telling the time, without thought or mental calculations, they become, to my mind, "hey! lookit me!" lumps of jewelry. This is the (ridiculously huge) latter. For all its size, you'd think they could have made it easier to read.
Stylistically not my cup of tea, but your positive comments are very relevant. The watch clearly meets its primary function admirably. Much enjoyed the review Joe. Will be Interested to see the full stop down.
Great vid as always. Casting my vote for the side by side breakdown video as well. Really enjoy your video style; wholesome, entertaining, educational. Thanks brother!
Yes show us the breakdown and side by side I always wanted to see what this movement looks like
Yes
Yep! Go for the strip down.
Yeah what you said!
You're a good man, Joe. Peace and love. Chops to Ciga for sending the watch to someone who they must know would take it apart.
Thanks mate
Well said mate....
Chops?what pork or lamb?
I would really would enjoy watching a full service on this watch.
Yeah!!!
I vote for a full teardown! I can never get enough of seeing your incredible work. Thank you, Joe!
From the slightly salty bogey, the shower scene and then the cuff shot where you have just cut a arm off a shirt 😂😂
I bet you guys had a right laugh making that video.
Hats off to you.
Thanks mike. That sleeve has been around longer than you think.
You're the one youtuber I wanted to see review this watch
The best thing about this watch is that it led you to upload a new video!
Thanks Andrew
For me this watch is wonderfully looking! I'm gonna get this next month for sure!
Great video. This watch has a timeless design....... mostly because you can't tell the time!😂😂😂😂
It’s beautiful, I’d wear it. Brave company, for sending you a $1000 timepiece, knowing what you’re going to do to it. Thanks for sharing!
I particularly like your display cuff! Had not realised it was so practical. I like the look of the watch, and especially liked it with the mesh band you showed. I also have a watch reading issue, and have found that a good contrast between the hands and the dial is all I need. Thirty jewels seems a bit over the top, almost twice as many as usual. You should take a look. Oh, and I bet numbers 0001 and 0002 are in the company vault, or on,the CEO’s wrist.
Got to say the beauty of the watch and the beauty of your sarcasm or hunor is a rare mix and more is needed in this planet
Thanks mate
Dude, once again a video filled with the mechanics of a timepiece and a genuine message filled with hope, from the heart for mankind. Beautifully done sir!
OMG! Trouble is SO completely adorable! Please give him a big hug from all of us who enjoy him so deeply!
It's certainly different, and they should be congratulated for that, always room for design innovation as long as it functions as it should.
Thanks for this review! It’s so refreshing to have a really independent view on things, .. and you style make all remember how there is still people with a soul in this difficult times for all earthlings
The watch is pretty cool. What is cooler is your amazing knowledge and understanding of how to approach it.!! ⭐️👍
One of the best watch reviews! I like how you open the case and show how the watch is made, compliments and please keep doing reviews!
Full breakdown! 🙂
I love to see the way a mechanical watch is put together. Fascinating little machines.
Absolutely hands-down Mr. troublemaker is the best part of your channel. But I really enjoy all of your content!
A full teardown would be great.Listening to your amazingly articulate kid making his comments is always endearing! 💖
I would love to see a comparison! I enjoy your videos very much, and love the way you continue to support everyone in the world. Thank you.
Thanks Sean
I don't know a thing about watches but I love watching your videos..love your outlook on life and our world..please make the full teardown..God bless you and your family...
I'd have to give up a lot of old Jaguar parts to purchase that watch. I never go anywhere fancy enough to warrant that kind of watch. That said, it's nicely done, something different, and reviewed excellently.

Oh and fairplay to CIGA.
Thanks mate

I’m thankful that the company sent one to you so you could break it open for us. Much love Mr. Watchmaker!
Thanks muneeb
A really pretty interesting design at that price range to be sure. It is however a tad too big for my taste and my wrist, as I always feel like big watches on a small wrist are kind of vulgar. Makes me feel like a footballer wearing the biggest watch he can find to show-off ;)
exactly my thoughts.
I like smaller watches. Pre-1970s gents are mostly fine.
Indeed
Mr. B, The whole world is in a volatile state, but watching nekkid watchmaker and little monster in background gives us a momentary break 💞
The only issue for an independent servicing this watch in the future is the minute wheel has been re-geared to a different ratio than standard, so if that part breaks and the company isn't around to get new parts the independent will have to make a new gear.
I think the parts will still be available from seagull

Glad you decided to make the video. You’re my favorite watchmaker channel. Yes, I would be interested in a comparison of jewels/movements. Thanks!

Great review Joe.
Good to see that your opinions, and skills regarding watches, are becoming recognised.
A very nice piece, and I wonder if they're going to produce an 'Atlantic' version?
Content like yours makes the world a better place. Thanks Nekkid!

Thank you 🙏
Totaly agree with you Sharon - This is SO much more than just a watch channel. Love the verbal criticism from Trouble!
You are just too funny. The world needs more of you and your familly. Thank you. I needed this.
If I could have a second expensive watch, I would consider something unique like this, but as I can only afford one watch at a time that's over $1000 (US) I would likely go with a more traditional style. Very nice looking watch though.

Sentiments to live by. This is a cool design, reminds me of the Omni from the 80s TV show, Voyagers.
Thanks mate for sharing this video, I would never buy something that expensive to wear on my wrist, but your style and attitude brings me back to your videos and I wasn't disappointed at any time.
Thank you 🙏

Thanks joshua, great words
Great review. I don't mind seeing you do them. At least its a review by someone that knows every detail of the workings of the watch. Keep it up¡
not my kind of watch. but I think it looks good with a leather strap. and I love the designer watch displaying sleeve
I assumed the displaying sleeve shipped with the watch. That's attention to detail that comes with a $1000 price.
Great video,as always !! You're an inspiration. I love watching your videos, they calm me down and make me giggle. Keep on keeping on. Take care.
You Sir, are a complete nutter… Thank you! I greatly appreciate your abilities and time. :)
Thank you 🙏
I think you knew before asking the question about the side by side break down… that we’d all say ABSOLUTELY YES please.
Great video and review. Thank you. Id love to see a side by side and learn more about how they have “improved” upon an existing movement, and what is it that they have done to win this award. 5. All the best to him and his family !!!
New video!!! Awesome!!!
Wow I'm blown away that ciga let you take this watch apart you are great at what you do I really enjoy your channel keep up the great content
Rock & Roll in the shower style reviews! :-D
Yep I'd like to see a side x side.

Interesting; it's like a pancake version of the Seiko / Think The Earth WN2 watches. I'll have to check this one out...

They then offered me to send in the watch or have them send a new backplate with 50usd to have it fixed in my country, I chose the latter. I was never expecting this in a million years tbh. Dunno of I was lucky but I'm quite pleased with my watch now and might event buy one of their new models down the road.
😂
Yes! Yes! Yes! Please do a comparison. I’m looking forward to your digger deeper into the mechanics of this watch. There is no way these challenged eyes could possibly “read” the time. My summery: it is a bracelet mocking a timepiece!
What a FANTASTIC channel you have created. Your skill and humour is very entertaining.
Thank you 🙏
Marvellous! I know nothing about watches, and have no aspirations for anything other than my cheap
Marks and Sparks one, but I enjoy watching for your amazing skill, dexterity, knowledge and humour. You seem a lovely chap and your content is always interesting and relaxing. Thank you!
Thank you 🙏
Please keep the videos coming. They provide a brief respite to the total madness around us!
Favorite video yet. Looking for more Trouble going forward. Tear it down!
Comparison please!! I will love it when you break that bad boy down, love to see you put it back together after counting all 40 jewels.
Update: CIGA support DID wake up after a few more days, and after I sent them a demo video of the malfunction they were helpful and agreed to send me a replacement.
Thanks mate
Wow. Your video is so helpful. As everyone is doing standard review, but some of us want to see the core of an watch before the purchase. Thank you
Hi Joe, Many thanks for your great review - put a smile in my face!
A Nekkid review, great one looking forward to you stripping down the movement.
God bless you and yours and best wishes from NZ.😉
I started laughing when ‘the Trouble Maker’ said to ‘get a grip man’! I did forget to look at the watch during the shower scene. This is a watch one wears for appearance not utility. I couldn’t read the time, but if I’m going for something to wear to make a statement in a meeting or a club this would be it.
Great video. I just picked up one of these as I really appreciate something unique in this price range. Fun to wear, well made and looks good.
Your son is terrific! This was fun to watch, more to see how you decided to remove the works than any interest in the watch. (and of course, the shower scene)
When wristwatches stop being instruments for quickly and easily telling the time, without thought or mental calculations, they become, to my mind, "hey! lookit me!" lumps of jewelry. This is the (ridiculously huge) latter. For all its size, you'd think they could have made it easier to read.
Best review ever. A tear down would be nice. Looking forward to it.
Love the shirt sleeve
Stylistically not my cup of tea, but your positive comments are very relevant. The watch clearly meets its primary function admirably. Much enjoyed the review Joe. Will be Interested to see the full stop down.
Thanks Christopher
I enjoyed this. Your sense of humor is great. Thanks!!!
Thanks mate
More reviews please..
also I would love to see a side by side to see the movements it would be absolutely very fascinating..😊
Great vid as always. Casting my vote for the side by side breakdown video as well. Really enjoy your video style; wholesome, entertaining, educational. Thanks brother!
