    Another great video with useful information. Marshall has been great bowler from the time I first saw him win a junior championship where he won a college scholarship to the present. He also seems to be a all around great guy as you are Mike! Thank you for your support of the bowling game.

    Great video! Do you think in the future you can talk about foot placement as well during these types of targeting videos? It looks like on lane #2 Marshall was standing on 35, aiming at 18 (arrows), and 7 (breakpoint). I'd be curious to hear more insight about why he was choosing to stand where he does for these types of angles. Thanks!

    1:06. I love Kent's look when he realizes this ball is flaring and rolling out over his thump home.

    I think this was a great video. Except the expectation to bowl on (entirely) unknown conditions is rare. I think it is easy to find out at least the length of the pattern you will be on. I would like to see pros philosophy when approaching different conditions. If it’s shorter/less volume do xyz, if it’s longer/more volume follow xyz.

    I definitely agree with the process and this is what I do for league weekly. Most nights I can throw over second arrow and make small adjustments as needed. Thanks for an Intel video, that can be put to use immediately and anywhere.

    So, do you never try to do a visual by getting down near the level of the lane and looking at the reflection? It won't tell you everything, but it can give you clues to length and how much carry-down, etc.

      It can be easier to see the oil on the lane when you look at it from that lower angle. Thanks for the comment and for watching our videos, we appreciate it!

    Quick question? What was the ball Kent threw in this video?

  • @amberolsen8766
    @amberolsen8766 3 роки тому

    So start with the strongest ball which forces far left and make a over under reaction?

  • @brucegilson6187
    @brucegilson6187 2 роки тому +1

    Great information but as a league player once a week I normally don’t get that many practice shots. So how can I narrow that down?

    • @insidebowling
      @insidebowling  2 роки тому

      Most of the time in league, unless it's a sport shot condition league, the oil will be applied in a very similar manner each week so there shouldn't be any big differences is having to read the lanes on the fresh condition from week to week. There may still be some small differences in ball reaction but the distance and volume of oil likely won't change drastically. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching!

    He could narrow it down without throwing a ball by watching other players practicing. He could gain enough info and have a starting lineup before stepping on the lane. Maybe a video of him teaching that would be a good lesson.

  • @bobveklotz7914
    @bobveklotz7914 2 місяці тому

    Problem is during league bowling we get 10 minutes for warmup so at best I get only 2 shots on each lane before starting so I don’t have luxury of starting far right.

    Question:
    Are the machines capable of being used improperly?
    For instance, could the operator oiling the lanes make it horrible to play on for anyone?
    IE: Pros unable to consistently find a line / weight / spin ratio etc?
    I have played a fair amount, don't consider myself professional by any means; but am above average.
    I have played at a few lanes and they did nothing but frustrate me. Unable to find any action to work the pocket.

  • @DSLatte1

    I'm confused. If we're supposed to throw a ball in the oil & then it's supposed to hook when it hits the friction, how are we getting oil if we throw our strike ball between the first & second arrow into the friction at the end? What am I missing?

    I joke about it a lot, but Inside Bowling should do some content on how to loft the gutter cap. I mean if I have less rotation than Liz Johnson and I find myself needing to loft the cap...

    In practice before league starts you might get to roll 4 shots...this method is not practical with too many wasted shots and limited time...take a strong ball and roll it outside you already know its going to over hook so why waste shots?...this was a house shot...
    Move inside and roll the ball over 15 at the arrows out to
    about 6 or 7 and then just make your adjustment blending oil out to dry.
