      It's different when you're addressing real events, versus rumors - and he'll point it out when it's based on that.
      The masses have confused news with punditry due to all the celebrity "journalists" - such as Maddow or Hannity and Carlson, who are paid to present one argument - being so prevalent due to the amount of money made.
      Ironically, NPR doesn't have the same incentives for clicks and advertising and their news reflects this by being less unbalanced and more fair.

    If it’s a nice car with performance wheels, it coulda been ANYONE. The tires probably weren’t gone because most new cars now have one nut out of the ones that secure the tire that requires a specialty key too remove.
    Someone coulda been trying to take his tires, realized they needed the key to remove a nut, and just left it where they stopped.
    As a former car salesman, I’ve seen it happen numerous times with sports cars and trucks on our lot that people try to take tires off.

      If it were me I'd have just gotten locking lug nuts for my fancy car and forgotten about it.

      See.... this is why the comments section can't be dismissed as a dumpster fire. That is such a great and simple explanation for an event that may or may not have even happened.
      I really do try to avoid being overly judgmental just because it's the internet but I just can't wrap my mind around the drug dealing accusations. Besides being irrelevant, it makes this dude look extremely vindictive. I mean, it's possible that he was just some hyper-moral, stick-in-the-mud, but to me, that seems like someone essentially trying to "SWAT" a dude and let the cops do his dirty work. The reality is, college athletes do drugs and the way I interpret this is, Caperton was aware that a couple of these teammates used drugs and he was trying to take them down.

      That's exactly what I was thinking when watching this. I think FlemLo hit it on the head that the paranoia (and maybe the shame of admitting that he might have been wrong to accuse these "players" all along) caused him to start to try to see things that weren't there or were a stretch to begin with. If there were any evidence, I would think it would have been brought in as Caperton sounds like the kind of dude that was looking for any and everything he could to show he wasn't a liar.
      The thing that makes this look Caperton look incredibly bad is the fact that the other side of this didn't even seem to think what was going on was warranted or had any believable reasoning behind it. That kind of tells me everything.

      I think FlemLo got it right: dude likely grew up in a pretty non-diverse environment, and as a big kid who was also a good athlete and had money, he probably was never challenged physically or mentally. So when he got to KU and faced guys that were as big/bigger, more aggressive, and came from a different culture he'd only known through media/entertainment, he immediately thought the worst.

    I read this story in the news about a couple of weeks ago and didn't see the information you have. You've shed more light on it with your coverage. My two cents: he had some racial stuff on social media, his teammates found out and called him out on it causing the argument. Caperton probably grew up in a bubble and therefore did not have developed social/coping skills, I've seen it before. You called it, he was strong physically but mentally weak. When the KU experience was done his parents, the creators of the bubble, helped him escape a situation he created. He wants to go on to bigger and better things but was traumatized by the experience and can't face up to meaningful challenges. We'll have to wait and see what happens with the lawsuit. The players he had the beef with have yet to be heard from and their statements will weigh heavy.

    What if someone else was trying to steal his tires because….you know….people. And they weren’t able to finish before he got back and that’s why the nuts were so loose?? 🤔…idk it’s far fetched but possible.

    • @gregorylagrange
      @gregorylagrange 3 роки тому +1

      Nah. Be real. If somebody gets into an argument, and soon after all the lugs on a tire are loose on a car that their dad bought them, and it's college, then somebody is definitely trying to mesh up his car.
      Not trying to kill him. But really trying to mess up their car.
      There's enough stories of knuckleheads in college that if they really wanted to kill somebody, then they really try. And they'd do it in a more efficient way then hoping that something would happen from a tire coming off. Which isn't such a life threatening thing like people think it is from what they see on tv shows.
      This is the go to response of how Karens became a thing. An issue with another white person is just an argument. An issue with somebody who isn't white becomes "oh my god, I was in fear for my life. You know how violent they can get!"
      From a high school that is 98% white, to being in a locker room for a large college program that largely depends on black players from mid to lower income areas for it to be successful, you can imagine the clash in cultures and mindsets that can happen.
      Especially for someone who's dad buys them a new car in college with plates that say "D1 Baller".

      @@gregorylagrange He didn't say it was a teammate that tried it. It coulda been anyone that loosened up the nuts. They coulda saw a nice car, and tried to steal the wheels. But with most newer cars there's a Lock on the lugnut that you need a key for to get the wheel off. They didn't have the key so they just left the wheel there as it was with untightened nuts. It's more likely that happened than one of his teammates tried to set him up.

    • @gregorylagrange
      @gregorylagrange 3 роки тому

      @@rentedguccimink1948 If the car has wheel locks then you can't loosen the nut with the key.
      And if you're trying to steal a wheel or even just take it off to change a tire, who is going to loosen all the nuts first, then go back through to each nut and then take it off?
      You take a nut off, then go to the next one.
      You have a brand new car without a mark on it, have a big blow up with somebody, and then right after that you see that somebody keyed your car, common sense tells you the likely reason how it happened. And it's not going to be that a shopping cart did it. And that's still ignoring that to steal wheels you have to jack the car up to put it on blocks.
