You need to do tour research on why the game never got updated on console. Its a lot deeper than just "they didnt want to update it"
It was due to the closing of TellTale their original publisher. Which nearly made them close down development too. I think they stopped for consoles cause they personally don’t specialize in developing for them and they didn’t have the money to maintain updates.
@@feartrain1282 They stopped updating for consoles because of the rules that both consoles have in place regarding updates. While they could, and should have been more transparent along the road about it, Madmole did say this during a devstream. On console you cannot put out an update that bricks an existing save. On PC we have the luxury of picking exactly which Alpha update we want to play on if the update makes our current game not work properly, this feature doesn't exist on console. Thus, the absolute delay in announcing anything regarding console updates until they could put out a "1.0" release. Theoretically nothing that comes after the 1.0 launch will make a previous save not work, but I'm iffy about that as well with the lack of both bandits and the story probably being updates that will make old saves not work right.
The TellTale thing was a super complicated BS rabbit hole.

Want the truth behind why it took so long to update on console? It's because consoles suck, they have to tear apart their own engine tech and dumb it all down to make it work at all. Limit map sizes, limit shadows, limit lighting, limit physics hard limit framerates. Games a shadow of itself on console and it's insulting that you plebians demand and cry and bitch and whine non stop about "wut about muh console release". Your console is a toaster bruh. Get over it.
Fun pimps lost control of the console version for awhile that was why there wasn't an update for a long time. When Telltale went out of business they had to bid to get the rights back to their own game again and updated it.

Ya, left us on alpha 15 with tidbits of alpha 16 for years. Then tell us we have to pay full price to get their 1.0 release. Get f**kd. They were still charging people $45 cad for 7 days on ps4 last year. And to top it off, they said they can't do split screen because the console can't handle it. Peace out funpimps

Ye shit sucked, I remember on PS4 when communities were still a thing there were at least 3 full communities (100,000 players each)dedicated to 7DTD even though we never got actual multiplayer servers, that just shows how much the console community loves this game, I wouldn't be surprised if it took the top spot on the top played games for PlayStation when it releases in July.

this is a pretty ignorant take that paints the fun pimps in a bad light as far as the console version is concerned, and that's a load of bull because they got screwed over when the company that owned publishing rights went bankrupt and they could not update it on consol. The devs have stated that if they did not lose the rights to it they would have updated it alongside the PC verson.

Well, for the PS4 xbox One, they can update it now and make it more stable & add a few things.

This game eas such a shit show with it's updates during EA- complete overhauls, direction changes, dropped content, etc.
I started playing this game back in in early 2015 and it is definitely not what it used to be. It feels more like a looter-shooter now than an open world survival game
The game has made players become the traders slave. All you do is run around doing what they tell you too. It seems boring now.
Yeah you go from Alpha One to Alpha 19 and then you go from 1.0 to 7.0 and then it'll be 7 Days to Die 2030 and they'll finally have Traders lips moving

People forget, 7 days to die was first released by the now defunct Telltale games on the console, not Fun Pimps. They have to republish on console themselves so that it can get updated, hence the unique version name for the console edition.
First of all the fun pimps created the game 7 days to die and they don't know how to do console games cuz they're just a PC gaming company that's all they do is PC games they said it themselves so they asked a company Telltale if they would help them with the game Telltale said yes absolutely no problem we could do that however Telltale was in deep debt at the time and was biting off more than they can chew and when the deal fell through and they couldn't do any more work on the console like they were doing the upgrades they said they were going to do a patch that would get it to Alpha 19 they said no give us the game back they sued him to get the game back and that was it for 4 years the fun pimps had complete control of every part of the game including the console version and they decided hey let's just say it's a new game and charge everybody 44.95 unless of course you bought it for $9 and then you get all the upgrades for free all the way up to 7.0 by the way by 7.0 they should have the lips moving on the Traders
9640 hours in this game ive been playing since alpha 15 i have no idea what im going to about name so use to alpha.
I still enjoy the game but I've had it in my steam library for years. I've off and on played it. I feel like they took the money and either ran or gave up and abandoned the game. I was surprised to see an update last time after years of no activity. Then a 1.0 release. Maybe they want to continue the project or are attempting to cash in on this project again. It's a good game but could have been alot more after these many years.
people are less annoyed about the price, and more annoyed about the fun pimps removing many features from A21 for some crappy half assed clothing/weather/gear system, RWG, and biome specific changes.
the pc vs console situation is a big mess, console version got locked behind a legal battle and they legally couldn't do a thing about it. thats why console never got any updates and PC did.

to be fair each update added more stuff, overhauled the skill tree and kept bugs in the game
Because the devs have workflow problems and seem to struggle to complete promises in a timely manner, which is fine, but its not surprising people would be a little frustrated.

All those updates to include a new: weather system? Bandits? spawn system? Those were all things they said they wanted in during Early Access, but just never seemed to get done. Even though they kept on saying it would get done, every time people kept brining it up, for years, and years, and years, and years, and years.

@@familyvalue5588 Also a significant portion of their dev team have moved to a new Unreal Engine game. Even before that, a lot of TFP devs and asset creators were contract or intermittent part-time.
The only reason for calling it that is they had to opt out of early access to make Sony and Microsoft happy. Nothing more to it.
Ive owned this game for about 10 years now. But stopped playing about 6 years ago. Didnt even know that it finally made it to 1.0 i guess i go dust my old Steam library off and see what happens.
This is extremely upsetting. I do own on both ps4 and pc. I find it really lame that if i want to play on PS i have to pay for the game again
after just looking at the first few posts people have it right. the reason console will have to pay to buy the game is because the game as it is now is a totally different game from what console has. but they have stated that they are planning to have some sort of discount for people who already own it on console. they have not stated as to how much the discount will be as of yet. but I'm sure as it comes closer they will announce that.
The majority of people nerd raging are PC players who bought the game on a steam sale for $7. Personally I am beyond excited to finally get the updated version on console. Even without a discount, $45 is nothing for what we are getting. Everyone has wasted more than that on far less. I'm so tired of this whiny age of outraged entitlement. There are so many countless things to be upset about in the world, video game updates should be the least of it.
@@tennesseeheckler3014 What are you talking about have you seen TFP's Twitter getting bombarded by console whiners every time they announce an update. The most PC players complain about is the loss of armor/clothing slots and missing A15 'learn by doing' in favor of trait points but that's largely in the past already.
I can't wait until it comes out on console I love the old console game and the PC version, I've put hundreds of hours into both.

Their toad map is basically the same thing they have been promising but cant ever deliver. bandits still not being a thing while there are so many mods that do it already and even wondering vendors… like dude, weather and bioms always get a over haul every patch…

they never had the skillset to pull the bandits and they refuse to hire someone to do it in 1 week, which is what will take an experienced person to basically lay the framework for it.. If they ever release bandits, expect them to have the AI of day Z zombie...

My understanding is that the console version can't be updated to the new version due to limitations. It's like If you owned Halo 1, then they released Halo II you had to pay for the new game. Same thing.

A lot of people defending TFP here seem to not understand the whole context of why console people are upset. Hell a lot of console people themselves aren't familiar with the better reasons why they should be upset.
TFP claim they had to buy the rights from dead Telltale, and that it took years-long legal litigation and a LOT of money to get it back. In reality it probably didn't cost nearly what they make it sound, was something they could absolutely pay for given continued console sales (and even a price hike) from people misled by PC update trailers, and they failed to tell console players they had the console rights in hand again for months/years despite claiming the opposite and that that was why they couldn't update it.
Admittedly a lot of the above is conjecture, but when TFP's communication is so bad and the lead dev Joel is such a blabbermouth that makes failed promises while also being tightlipped on others, people are going to fill in the blanks.
actually the part about them having the rights back for awhile is true. someone tracked down the court records. yet the didn't delist the game on console, instead they knowingly kept selling a version they knew they couldn't update.
I dont even think they had to pay, i even doubt they ever lost the rights for consoles. The only thing they didnt own was the source code. Most of these contracts stipulate you have to have a viable product in x years and so on.. unless they are total fools... they never lost rights and of course they were and still are making money of the console sales....Dude, you have to understand madmole is not a videogame creator, he is an amateur modder. What he really is is a frustrated real state dealer and he has been using the money from the game to improve his real state business.. people are fool believing a guy who was lurking pro websites 20 years ago trying to get people to work for free for his "Games"... man man...
@@Trikipum I try to avoid that "gamer outrage" kind of negative thinking just like that Jade UA-camr. All I can say is I remember the A20 stream saw years ago where Joel was getting legitimately agitated when recounting that they had to rebid on their own IP. He even said something along the lines of "we were dumb back then", so they probably were fools and did not understand publisher relations and that they weren't treated equally.
Two things can be true, Madmole might be propping up his side ventures rather than dedicating more to the game which is needed, he might be a lousy dev in the past, but 7d2d is received well enough and other than console and slow PC updates, it is not a catastrophe. There are legitimate things to criticize TFP for, but attacking his character is not one of them imo. Like I think what does that have to do with judging the game itself...
Too many outraged gamers looking to destroy devs forget how difficult being one actually is. Madmole as a studio manager released three games which despite the poor ratings still published which is more than what most could do, and sure he was "just" a modder for Doom and Oblivion, but I always find people who talk like this are out of their league. Have you developed your own game on a schedule and limited budget? I work in software engineering and I know that people who become indie devs don't do it for money, they may hit it big and leech off of later but at the start, it's the last thing you want to do to make money.

Makes sense to charge extra for console version. Look at it this way, if they didn't spend time optimizing for shitty console hardware they would probably have more time to focus on actual game features. Nobody forces you to buy the game, yo. And the price increase after the game exits the early access is also very logical, that's the point of early access. I got this game for a dollar during a sale years ago, now what? That money went to development probably so console players could enjoy this game on their shitty console hardware. But of course 50 bucks for a sandbox game is a bit too much even minecraft deluxe costs only a twenty.

well there won't be. once they actually add the story mode, then you'll have a goal. but the point of the current game is to survive for as long as possible. there is no real end game, never will be. mods do add that though.

Honestly I don't believe they had any intention going gold. I think they got in trouble by Steam and were forced to go live because they have been in early access for over 10 years. I don't know anything else that has been in early access for over 10 years. To be fair the good thing is they kept working on the game and improving it, and I also really have liked this game and played over 1000 hours on it because it is one of the best sandboxes I have played.
they are going gold so they can sell the game on ps 5. sony doesn't have an early access program like steam and xbox do. and sony is the biggest platform and likely to make them a bunch of money. hence the sudden 1.0 release despite not being a finished product. the game shouldn't have taken this long to make, the problem was they kept reinventing systems over and over again as they tried chasing trends. the game was supposed to be minecraft meets fallout 3. then it was that, but skyrim instead, then it was fallout 4. now it's learn by looting.
@@spicydeath82 yes, they have been developing the game sideways based on the multiplayer games they have been playing during all these years. They have a huge inferiority complex with their game and it shows. For example, the actual UI in the game, it is basically the old RUST temporal UI. They redid the whole thing just because they were playing rust back then and that was the UI rust was using as a place holder.. Same with meat items.. They removed all the diferent meats, which made cooking interesting, and put a single meat item "to save memory" lmao. All this was because of their complex and RUST. The funniest part, and what has me rolling still nowadays, is that not much after, RUST moved to a more old school UI and added multiple meat items, since the single item was a placeholder.. YOu see how stupid this is, they get influenced by the placeholders of another game, then the new game moves on to something better, something they already had in first place... The irony of this still gets me.
um wow you have made a LOT of mistakes and made a lot of misinformation! first mistake you made, the game originally released only on PC in December 2013 and was then ported over to PS4 and Xbox One in April 2016 by Telltale Games, Another mistake you made is that this 1.0 release wont be for PS4 and Xbox One and is only for the Latest consoles PS5 and Xbox series.
The sole reason console players have to purchase the game again is because the older hardware cant run the latest improvements to the game and the other reason the consoles havent been getting updates is because the FunPimps lost the rights to the console version when Telltale Games went under thus stopping them from updating that version.
Maybe next time you should do just a little bit of research before you make misleading videos like this.

I find this one fact funny, As a pc and console player of 7dtd, and have seen all the changes and QoL changes they made, ill be happy to pay $45-50 for a current updated version of the pc version for console so i can play along with my little brother.
You really need to brush up on your history of the game. All the insane crap they had to deal with. I strongly recommend you watch the interview Neebs Gaming had with them last week.

Man, madmole is a guy who, 20 years ago, was lurking around 3d and texturing websites, for profesionals, trying to get them working for free for his "projects", believing he was a god of design, shitting on other's amazing work while his was mediocre if any.. this is that guy.. the guy who lost a dog because he didnt finish a fence he was building...This guy reallly believes his ideas are godsent and the rest as crap, yet he copies every feature he sees in the game he is playing and tries to put it in their game, even if it does not make sense... man man.. Imagine, this is a guy who told those super good profesionals "you have to work for free for me until you prove you are good enough".. have you seen his textures and models?.. lmaaaaao. Some "upgrades", replacing unity aseets by madmole's stuff, have been a downgrade actually..Guy goes to office, does 1 texture per month and call it a day, then spends the rest of the day playing some game which will kick in his game's inferiority complex, then he will start adding crap no one asked, keeping development sideways so it never goes ahead...1 patch every year....
I'm curious if I'll be able to continue playing the current console version. I'd rather play the current version with split screen than the new one without it. It's great that it's being upgraded and I'm sure it will be great, but without split screen it loses it's appeal. So, will I be able to run it on my xbox 1 or my ps4? Or will the alpha versions stop on the xbox 1and ps4 once the v 1 drops, even though they can't run it?
you probaly will, unless they revoke the license , but the difference is huge , since OG console version and what will have parity with the PC version, the world , POI's are far more diverse, complex ,as there legal issues with telltale did'nt necessitate them pulling the Telltale version i.e what you have , then i doubt they will do it now , they will pull it from sale as they said, but it's basically a new game, so i'd imagine you could have both on current gen

Do you not understand that the fun pimps did not make the ps4 or xbone versions of the game?. Tell tales did and then they went belly up, it cost the fun pimps millions of dollars to acquire the rights to their own game so that they could release the game for console players. It's like if you bought a pizza from one restaurant and then demanded a free pizza from a different restaurant because you already purchased a pizza from their competition. I have over 8000 hours in 7dtd and i'm still not bored because it's impossible to get bored of this game , it's literally the best game ever made.

From what i understand, they completely remade it for consoles. They arent console devs. And instead of going though the hardship of trying to keep up console, they stuck with what they could do. So yea, wanting money for doing all that work again? Probably hiring console devs for it? Yea i see their point of view. (Again, just what i've heard)

yes they outsourced the game to a company in Australia to make the new console version so yeah its very understandable to ask for console players to pay for it again as its practaly a new game compared to the old console version, you could even go as far to say its 7 days to die 2 on console

the problem isn't that they can't just update the old version or give them the new version. the issue is they've had the rights back for awhile now, but kept selling the old version. they should have delisted it once they were able, but they didn't. and they've known they wouldn't be able to update the old version, but kept selling it anyways. that's the issue many people have.

I've happily paid for the same game to be able to play it on a console over my PC in the past, they seem to have put the work into making the console version not just some bad port. A company has to make money, just be glad every zombie you kill isn't locked behind a loot box.

The difference is the original publisher who put it on Xbox is gone. From my understanding Xbox won’t allow a new publisher to update a game under a new publisher. They have to remove it then recertify it through Xbox.
i'm fine with it and i've first played 7DTD back when they still had the minecraft-style boxy world blocks. i'm optimistic about the future updates but i guess it will be a small issue for modders since they probably would have to make some of their mods from the ground up for the new 1.0
compared to what last gen 7 days was , this will be a massive upgrade,i started on PS4 and it's basically a pre alpha compared to what the PC version is , i think most console owners will be fine with it, esp if it's a good 60 FPS. i know many console owners who where drooling at what it has become and what it is for them.
you are insane if you expect 60 fps on console when 6 zombies show up...Unless they hire competent people to do a proper port, then maybe they will fix it..

Here's the thing a lot of people are missing, you can disagree if you want but the following statement is fairly accurate: The Fun Pimps have created a game, that has become the gold standard for survival games for a very large amount of people.
fact is , PC is the reason this game exists , we bought , we gave the feed back and found the bugs , console came later , PC master race forever :)
No one has to pay for it unless you don't own it. Also they don't own the rights to make changes to the console version. And have been fully open about this if you are going to get mad at lest dig a little.
The console version was an alpha, alpha versions of games even if it's paid access you know you are buying a game that isn't done or out officially yet. Of course they are gonna make you pay for the game, it's the actual game, it's a different build altogether not the alpha version. I expected this and to me what they've done feels commonly practiced in the industry

Using your logic, they would have to charge us again in PC, since "it is gold now".. Do you mean, that if i add an "alpha" tag to my product, i can charge you twice just because it is not alpha anymore?.. what the hell are you talking about...PC version is alpha too, so you gonna pay the whole game again if they remove the alpha tomorrow?.. what is your logic there, because i fail to see it..
Dude, I have issues with the fun pimps about some decisions they've made, but come on man. The fun pimps couldn't do anything about console for many years. You make it sound like the devs chose to neglect console. Not true, get your facts straight pls. Also if I was console I would gladly give money to get the new updates which for the price they are asking practically pays for itself in entertainment value.
7 days to die will be my all time favorite but not my number one favorite I’ll make it my 2nd favorite and no matter the disappointment people are about this new game I’ll always will play it no matter what
The biggest problem with the game is the graphics they are not going to attract alot of new players with 15 year old graphics. the gameplay is decent but seriously after this long they should have switched game engines.
I mean at the end of the day it doesn't matter that much, graphics are not what matters most of the time, many people bought the game when it released on console, the graphics are WAAAAAy worse, the frames are worse, everything looks worse but it was a really fun and entertaining game specially with co-op, now with a new and updated version finally releasing on console its just gonna sell better, not a huge hit but definitely a huge hit on open world survival games on console
changing engines wouldn't fix the graphics. the engine has little to do with it. it's a weird fallacy i keep seeing online. you can literally mod og morrowind to make it look like a modern aaa game and that engine is from early 2000's. the graphics look like they do because that's just what the fun pimps went for. could they have made them look nicer? sure and they have a lot since the game first came out. it used to look like minecraft. but swapping to unreal or something wouldn't magically make the game look better. plus as far as i'm aware they have updated to newer versions of unity since they first started. frankly the game is just resource heavy as it is and upping the graphical fidelity would basically make even beefy pc's crap their pants.
Don't know why people are upset. I love this game and have gotten lots of enjoyment out of it over the years. I'd be just as happy for them to keep it in Alpha than to take it out. As far as console's go I could care less. I haven't played an actual console game since PS 4/Xbox 360. PC is MUCH better for this game and many others at a fraction of the cost of a console
Your arguments about pc being equal to console are a false equivalency. The console dev was handed off to another publisher and dev team. Fun pimp didn’t have anything to do with it other than owning the property. Blaming them for not updating it is disingenuous. Do better.
Not much of a surprise there because every console player would be mad if they bought the old game but then found out that they had to pay more money for the new game and being honest that would make any one mad.
