    Hello from KY ❤️ love you and your channel.Glad Mr. Brown is better. My mom made a jam cake off a recipe that was in the courier journal,Mrs. Creason in lou ky.She made it for folks it was so good.Had strawberry and blackberry ham,pecans and walnuts buttermilk etc.Her icing would always get hard and you could actually peel it off the cake.Her cake was a purple color as well.She put raisins too.l have the original copy I intend to laminate it.It was from the 1960s.Yours looks good and I know I would rather have your icing😊. Your mixer looks like alot of trouble.They should have made adding ingredients easier with a space so you didn't have to lift it each time.

    My Mom always made Blackberry Jam cake for Christmas. I could just smell that cake when you were baking it ! She always used dark brown sugar, black walnuts, and raisins. My Mom passed away in 2008 at age 95. I haven't made one for a few years, but I use English walnuts, raisins and light brown sugar, but next time I'll try it with dark brown. Thank you for the good memories.

This year I will make it for my family in her honor. It is a variation of your recipe. She added golden raisins, coconut and marshmallows to her frosting. It was like candy!!

    We make this during the Holidays usually between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It gets wrapped up in aluminum foil then put on a cake stand with a lid on top. It has to sit in a bedroom closet for one or two weeks to mellow out. We are so excited when it comes out. Our recipe uses seedless blackberry jam

      @@WhippoorwillHoller I figured it was still going. I have a Kitchen Aid too, probably almost 20 yrs old. Sadly I haven't used it much. I don't have room on my counter tops for everything I want. I am embarrassed to say that It is stored in the pantry on the top shelf. I need my hubby to get it down and put up the power cooker maybe. Hahaha

    Ms Lori, I make this cake at Christmas and the holidays and I love the mixer. I put raisins in mine or craisins. The icing is Old Fashion Caramel Icing. Love, love watching and following you. I have been busy making the cream soup mixes and made the brisket today. Very good. Keep up the good work.

    Thank you for sharing this recipe! I have been looking for this recipe for a long time, My aunt use to make this, my mother had the recipe but mice got into her recipes one year and chewed it up. Both my mother and my aunt have passed now. My mother use to make this in what I call an angel food cake pan, and just poor a glaze over it.

      I agree. It needs a handle. It just makes better since cause you know you can’t scrape it out very good all up in your arm or in your hands like that.

    It's always good to see old recipes like this. I think I'd like that caramel glaze more than my grandma's filling on her cake. As best I recall, her's had ground raisins, coconut and pecans. I think there was something else in it, too. Now I need to see if my uncle can put his hand on the recipe :D

    Miss Lori you got my mouth watering with this recipe. That’s a cool little mixer with all those attachments. Even at our age (I’m 58) getting something new like this brings out the kid playing with a new toy! I hope you enjoy it for many years. You make Mr Brown rest a bit when he gets home, I’m so happy he’s recovered and back at it! As always my dear, I send continued prayers and ask for God’s blessings for you and yours. 🙏🏼❤️

    Hi you two. Delicious cake. I had a previous mixer with other attachments, blender, liquidiser etc. But when it died on me I was told the one motor wasn't powerful enough to work all the different attachments. I would also miss a handle. Glad Mr Brown is feeling better. God bless 🙏😇

    Can't wait to try several different types of jam I've put up. The machine looks handy - love the way it raises up as my Kitchen Aide doesn't do that. The attachments are just wonderful, also. Less stuff to have around and only one machine on the counter without storing more. I imagine it will be easy for me to remember the name - instead of house-work, it's house-wort which is kinda like kitchen-aide. LOL Also, that frosting looks amazing and since I love caramel, can't wait to try it on ice-cream - maybe with a little jam mixed in. Oh boy, the pounds are chasing me - they watch what I look at on YT and plan their attack!

    That cake looks delicious! I am going to have to try that,blackberry jam is my favorite.
    I looked up information on that mixer and it seem to really do a lot to be so reasonably priced. One thing I noticed is the flat paddle might be better for mixing cakes so it reaches the sides better. As you had mentioned it didn't. I have a Kitchen Aid mixer
    And that is what the paddle blade is for mixing. I use the whisk one for beating egg whites or anything else I would use a hand whisk. One last thing, I love that the attachments are stainless steel. Love your recipes!

    • @kyradenean1
      @kyradenean1 3 роки тому

      I also use the paddle on my KitchenAid for cake batter and mixing cookie dough. I use the whisk for beating up whipped cream or egg whites. My pound cakes need that paddle.
