THEY WERE BEAUTIFUL AND MY YOUNGEST SON AND HIS FAMILY WENT TO SAXIS,VA. TO SEE A BUYBOAT THAT IS STILL OWNED AND WORKED ON THE WATER! THEY SAID IT WAS REALLY TAKEN CARE OF! THEY WANT TO TAKE ME ONE TIME! I SAW IT WHERE IT WAS BEING BUILT AND THERE WAS NO WAY!!!!!! I WAS GOING TO RIDE A FERRY FROM HERE FOR AN HOUR AND HALF ON THAT OCEAN! NO INDEED AND I WAS BORN ON CHINCITEAGUE ISLAND VA AND THAT WAS GREAT !!BUT NO MORE FERRY FOR ME! I GO ACROSS THE CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE TUNNEL IN VA.BEACH BUT ITS ONLY WHEN I WANT TO GO UP HOME AND VISIT😊❤ MS LORI YOUR SUCH A BLESSING AND I SO ENJOY YOU AND MR.BROWN TELLING US THINGS YOU LOVE AND REMEMBER! Beautiful pie.. just hope people don't use egg yolks instead of whites in their meringue.. small error for you.. huge error for anyone following your instructions.. might want to fix that.. 65 here have made a few in my days.. 😄❤ let them know we don't use yolks in meringue...just the whites..
What I love about you Miss Lori is that you give permission to be real and not like a staged TV show. I’ve always been stressed out that I can’t create a perfect pie crust. I feel so blessed by you and your teaching.
My mother taught me how to make a meringue that doesn't weep or shrink. To keep it from weeping, make sure the filling is hot so the meringue will cook on the underneath. To keep it from shrinking, make sure the meringue touches the pie crust all around. I make my meringue with cream of tartar, sugar, and egg whites.
Lemon Meringue Pie is a family legacy for us. Mom told us that's how she met my father, she brought his mother one of her pies (in the 1940's) with some fresh eggs...and the rest is history. Whenever she was invited to someone's home they always asked her to bring her Lemon Meringue Pie. Mom taught me how to make her pie and it never fails and never anything from a box. By the way my crust is never round when I roll them out, who cares you fit it in the pie plate and trim/flute it anyway. Good job Ms. Brown!

I was thinking that the fruit pies would have the bit of sugar in them and the meat pies wouldn't .. plus they would maybe be thicker? Amateur here ..

I love all citrus, but lemon meringue is magical! I also make the pie with real lemon zest and juice. I was so lucky as a child, we had lemon meringue pie in our little junior school. Each table sat 8 children, with 2 designated as servers. We worked together and as lemon meringue pie was not popular with all, I had plenty of extra portions! School dinners ( throughout junior and secondary) were my favourite by a mile, I loved my school dinners - all the 'Misses' knew that. I would love to go back to have the same, but modern day dinners here are nothing like the ones we enjoyed - we were very lucky indeed. I hope that all the dinner ladies realise what a contribution they make to our lives, I will never forget the wonderful food and the friendly 'misses' who served us. Thank you to all dinner ladies!

You’re a genius!!! I’m 75 years old I made lemon meringue pie for my husband every Christmas it was his favorite pie It always wet on the bottom. So glad to get your recipe. The only thing is he is past!! I’m going to make it for my children for Christmas.
I use a recipe by Heather Simpson on All Recipes. I modify it slightly by only using 8oz of cream cheese. We like the way it comes out more creamy. Lemon Icebox Pie Ingredients: 1 - 9 inch prepared graham cracker pie shell 1 - 8 oz package cream cheese 1 - 14oz can sweetened condensed milk 2 - large lemons or three small ones Zest of one lemon Directions: In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Add condensed milk, lemon juice and zest and mix until smooth. Refrigerate at least 2 hours (I make mine a day ahead so it sets up better). Garnish with whipped cream (optional). I hope you love it as much as we do!

I even hate to say this but when my dad volunteered my mom to make pies because people ask them to. (Mom was a registered nurse and raised kids and had a full-time job) she hated for him to volunteer pies but that was his favorite. But when she was a little angry and just slapped it together she made the best pies in the world if she thought about it no way! That's why those guys liked her pies but it was always a minor explosion at home when she had to make pies and it was usually do not eat anything because I didn't make any extra! I thought this was always a funny story

Miss Lori, I learned something about making pie crust and pudding and meringue today! I’ve been cooking since I was in Jr high and am 78 now.. I wish I had known the meringue secret . My Grandma used cream of tartar to keep the meringue stiff, I never could tell the difference.. I was missing my mother in law so much and my husband of 55 yrs, this fall especially. they both died within in 4 months of each other 4 yrs ago. She passed in August and it is september 2022 now. I wasa city girl and married a sweet countryboy. His Mother was a wonderful woman and real country cook, she taught me county cooking and country ways.. One year we went out and bought a 50# sack of fresh picked corn and I learned how to can corn on a coleman stove in the yard in the shade. Miss Lori, , when i drop by your channel , it eases that ache in my heart.for a while. The warmth and comfort and love you and Mr. Brown have and share with us come right through my computer screen to me.. My son came in and saw me writing the recipes and said, Oh that looks so good, when are you going to make us a lemon meringue pie, yum yum!!. Well I sure will right away. My mom always ask me if I wanted cake or pie for my birthday, she knew I would say lemon pie. She could make one with using eagle brand milk and real lemon,zest that one became my favorite. I was using lard last summer and started having gallbladder attacks! no more as I had to have surgery. I got stones and was a mess

You’re a genius!!! I’m 75 years old I made lemon meringue pie for my husband every Christmas it was his favorite pie It always wet on the bottom. So glad to get your recipe. The only thing is he is past!! I’m going to make it for my children for Christmas.

I use a recipe by Heather Simpson on All Recipes. I modify it slightly by only using 8oz of cream cheese. We like the way it comes out more creamy.
Lemon Icebox Pie
Ingredients:
1 - 9 inch prepared graham cracker pie shell
1 - 8 oz package cream cheese
1 - 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
2 - large lemons or three small ones
Zest of one lemon
Directions:
In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Add condensed milk, lemon juice and zest and mix until smooth. Refrigerate at least 2 hours (I make mine a day ahead so it sets up better). Garnish with whipped cream (optional).

My favorite pie!!!!
I even hate to say this but when my dad volunteered my mom to make pies because people ask them to. (Mom was a registered nurse and raised kids and had a full-time job) she hated for him to volunteer pies but that was his favorite. But when she was a little angry and just slapped it together she made the best pies in the world if she thought about it no way! That's why those guys liked her pies but it was always a minor explosion at home when she had to make pies and it was usually do not eat anything because I didn't make any extra! I thought this was always a funny story

Miss Lori, I learned something about making pie crust and pudding and meringue today! I’ve been cooking since I was in Jr high and am 78 now.. I wish I had known the meringue secret . My Grandma used cream of tartar to keep the meringue stiff, I never could tell the difference.. I was missing my mother in law so much and my husband of 55 yrs, this fall especially. they both died within in 4 months of each other 4 yrs ago. She passed in August and it is september 2022 now. I wasa city girl and married a sweet countryboy. His Mother was a wonderful woman and real country cook, she taught me county cooking and country ways.. One year we went out and bought a 50# sack of fresh picked corn and I learned how to can corn on a coleman stove in the yard in the shade. Miss Lori, , when i drop by your channel , it eases that ache in my heart.for a while. The warmth and comfort and love you and Mr. Brown have and share with us come right through my computer screen to me.. My son came in and saw me writing the recipes and said, Oh that looks so good, when are you going to make us a lemon meringue pie, yum yum!!. Well I sure will right away. Thank you for everything you do, I love your channel.💕

My mom always ask me if I wanted cake or pie for my birthday, she knew I would say lemon pie. She could make one with using eagle brand milk and real lemon,zest that one became my favorite. All of her pies were delish. All of her cooking yum. Her mom was from Arkansas. So tuned out good at cooking. Your easy to watch.
