Been listening to your pre election podcasts, you are really facilitating a debate, really cut throat, i admire your courage. Even tho i left Pakistan long before you were born 40 yrs ago, but listening to your podcast made me interested, i started listening to you little over a year ago. Keep up the great work kid, we need more like you and muzzamil, who i found through your podcast. Be safe
Ghias, this was a good one. You asked the right hard hitting questions and the guest is living in a parallel universe. For local issues, there needs to be local solutions. Knowing textbook problems is different from addressing reality based issues.
The incorrigible optimism of Hamza, whilst appreciable, is not rooted in the current reality. I appreciate Shahzad for asking the right hard questions as to how does he plan to win. It's simple: he does not plan to win this election.
I wish hamza all the best with elections even though I know he isn't winning 2024 election but he is a passionate young man and he will inspire many more young people thank you hamza
I support Hamza in everything he believes in. We need educated, trained and young people joining politics. It doesn't matter if he's inexperienced or idealistic. Time and circumstances will teach him well. He has to be consistent and not be scared of failure. All the best to you, Hamza. ✊🏽✊🏽
Here’s my honest opinion (And again Hamza was a dear friend). Hamza is from the elite he claims to be standing against. I won’t go into his background but his views are not too different from what’s discussed in DHA living rooms. His thought process seems to be - bus mujhe pohoncha do aiwaan main ker loon ga - without understanding what the mandate and rights of an MNA are. I applaud him for trying to break through in this system but I am not confident in his ability to understand what his mandate will be and deliver on the promises he’s making
Truck ki batti: This is a very popular expression in Pakistan which means running after an illusion or mirage.... In Pakistani public life , media some people are constantly lightning " this truck ki batti " . Some of them really proved very hollow say like Hassan Nissar, Hamid Mir, Moed Pirzada, mubassir lukeman, Rauf klassra and so on . At times it appeared that they are leading the youth, right minded people from front and have some sure recepie for reforms, welfare and education of Pakistani society. But they proved themselves the real proverbial Truck ki Batti. But there are few who are very consistent, persistent and men of convictions who light their truck ki batti, move on without flickering its light ! Most prominent among them are Parvez Hoodbhy, Anwar Maqsud, Kaiser Bengali, Wajahat bhai, Naseer, Prof. Taimur , wastulla, khodo and few others ....... Latest but not the least is our PE guy Shehzad. Best wishes to him
Really good podcast although a bit too much pushback for someone starting out. This was more of what I expected from the Bilawal podcast. While you did ask him tough questions and it was a solid episode, you did let him "steam roll" you a bit and take charge of the conversation. He's a national leader so, maybe that played a part. Also, he routinely took small potshots which helped him frame the conversation and contributed to him doing so well. Small nitpicks but things which can be improved upon imo.
Actually I think I did incredibly well to not get distracted by those potshots and stayed laser focused on the issues, this is why I got so much out of a 70 minute conversation
Shehzad bhai , first time i felt you spoke a common person issue for so long with the guest and the guest knowing all political limitations still is able to give very reasonable reply . The guest has high degree of common sense and motive . Good luck to him
There are specific "Leadership Programs" run by the US and US backed NGOs which have the same kind of pushing attitude towards becoming "leaders" all over the third world countries. Thank you.
A bit disappointed with Hamza for repeating the cliches any illiterate person standing for a ticket would say in his campaign. "log samjhtay hai politicans saray corrupt hai," "parties statistics gharo mai bana rahi hoti hai" "parties ki seats ka criteria wafadari hai, mai kio jao wahan, wahan debates nahi hoti UK/US ki tarah" etc etc I mean that all this is true but ridiculing others to elevate your position isn't the merit I would set for a person who is highly literate, has worked in policy making with the government and has a career experience of 7 years (If I am not wrong) There have been 4 martial laws during which former prime minister has been hanged to death, numerous political rallies have been quelled and political workers forced to compromise. No wonder that the person who remains "wafadaar" in these times should be awarded ticket. Miftah and shahid khaqan abbasi were promised blanked immunity in exhange for chickening out on Nawaz but they did not. These are acts which merits you seat at the table in the party (which unfortunately did not happen) aaj kal koi nahi samjhta kai politicians saray corrupt hai. saray estabilishment ko bura samjhtay hai. politicians thoday bohat corrupt hai ya nahi matters little to the populace provided those politicians are competent and willing to deliver. This comment is already too long. I only wish Hamza luck and growth. He is a good man to enter Pak's politics but as evident from his answers to Shahzad Questions, he should try being more practical and pragmatic in his approach to actually win the election. My question to Hamza is why didn't he pursue a public policy career in VC firms, PE firm or growth equity firms in the US. He couldve started his own firm. That could be creating more impact on a massive scale than becoming a member of NA. As David Rubenstein said, "In politics you cannot get anything done like in private sector" In a globalized world such as our Bill Ackmans and John doers are more powerful and can make more impact than People like Ron desantis, AOC or Francis suarez
All the comments are really going after hamza for his simplistic thinking. It's sad to see really, haven't we seen enough of usual faces. Don't we need some idealism and ideas in our politics. And if it's naive to believe the things hamza is saying, how naive is it believe the same old parties, who have been in the system for decades, when they say they will transform the country, control the establishment etc.
I like the back and forth in terms of the debate you both had in regards to what and how he wants to implement things in a systematic way. But the gentleman somehow doesnt convince me because he somehow thinks the system will 'function' the way he wants it to without understanding the actual realities on ground, the overall projection feels hypothetical. A great podcast nonetheless, some banger episodes, good lad he is, hope he has a few things to take away from this back and forth with an average Pakistani and how he views the system.
have to genuinely commend the podcaster for catching this guy with his pants down when he asked what he would do if he didn't win.....immediately he reverted back to the original pakistani response "inshallah boys played well"......that's all folks.
The line of questioning aa a voter waa really good but I'm not really satisfied with his answer. Even if everything taken on the face value that he is educated, have intention ans is honest but i didn't what exactly will he do after getting elected and how will work? It feels like aag lagi hai ghar me aur ek honest aadmi ek baalti paani lekar khada hai bola main bujhaunga aur bijli bhi nahi kaati ghar ki, i don't know kaise bhujjegi ek baalti paani se aag.
