Emma’s story is heartbreaking but a cautionary tale dex didn’t just waste his time not being with Emma but Emma also wasted so much of her limited time on earth on jobs she hated and men she didn’t even really like and when she finally chose to pursue her happiness she only got a taste until it was taken from her 😢
The heartbreaking thing is that she told Dexter she didn’t want to be a footnote in his story but in a way she sort of was, she wrote books that were okay but they weren’t revolutionary as far as children’s literature goes, she and Dex were married but they didn’t have anything like a child together, his daughter is likely going to forget her, and Dexter as painful as it is will move on. He’s done it before and from the looks of it has a really good support group looking out for him.
I binged watched this over the weekend. I've not been affected by a film/show in years. Even though I had see the film and knew of the plot this still hit me hard. Ambika Mod and Leo Woodhall were fantastic. The music was incredible too, I can't stop thinking about it.
I would never advise a girl to allow herself to be disrespected by a man who claims he fancies her but then goes on to other women like she meant nothing. If a man really loves someone, he can’t spend a day without being with her, let alone spend time with other women. This story shows us how as people get older, they go back to the original person because they have no choices left.
people are not perfect! i think this story shows that as people get older they realize or accept what they couldn’t before. hence why they “grew up together”
When Em & Dex were in the maze, I kept hoping she would reveal her sadness to him that he was getting married. Why did it take so long for her to admit her true feelings?
One Day the movie is one of my top favorites, I loved Jim Sturgess and Anne Hathaway so when this came out I was skeptical. I’d say the biggest difference between Anne and Ambika’s portrayal is that while they are both insecure, Ambika’s version has a lot of pride whereas Anne was more willing to make fun of herself and had a sense of humor.
I really liked the show but imo they should've got a happy ending... killing Emma of so suddenly reminds me of when Skins used to kill off characters. I get that it's trying to show that life can be cruel but I feel like there was already enough heartbreak and sadness in this show.

She was lovely in her portrayals. Actually seems like bookish character are was meant to be, so full of heart.
I can't even think of someone else for this role. Ambo did a fantastic job. I am so obsessed with this show!
She and Leonard had the best chemistry I've seen in a romantic series, in an anthology - it's just SO good.
