- Our entertainment reporter Olivia Marks chatted with Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall about all things One Day.
Find out which film bonded them together, what projects they'd love to do in the future and their favourite lines from the series.
They were sooo good. I’ve never seen an actor portray heartbreak so well as Leo, his face spoke for himself and made me cry so jard
So true, he was so good
totally agree !!!
He literally broke me when how much emotion he showed on his face
refreshing to see ambika alive
Too soon 😭
lmao nooo 😭🤣
😂😂
😂😂😂
😂😂
The whole series was a True Piece of Art...The acting , the cinematography, the execution was absolutely brilliant.....It was heart wrenching, moving , searing , and just so beautiful...The ending left me in Shambles
So true. What I like about indie films, is the rawness of the emotion evoked in the scenes. I definitely get that in spades in this movie, even though its a well budgeted film, that didn't distract me at all from focusing on the story, the characters and the feels that it evokes.
Dont forget the scoreeee
@@alondraortiz9046 yes..... jeff buckley's lilac wine on that last episode.
@@LaurBeeI agree, such an inspired choice for that moment
Same
Much better than the movie
Agree
Definitely, a movie couldn't capture will the amazing details of how their bond developed year by year so I think that was an amazing idea 🤌🏼
and even better than book❤ 1:23
I agree it gave me closure unlike the movie which i cant thank this series enough!
Originally I thought nothing can surpass the movie but when I laid my eyes on the scene the two met at the first time, I can’t help crying. Just wonderful, best romantic series in years, and much better than the movie
When Leo was going through grief I was laterally feeling his pain, brilliant acting ❤
his performance, especially the last episode, just broke me..he just embodied the pain so intensely and perfectly....I think his performance was the highlight of this whole series....he is such a marvelous actor!!!
I had actually cried doing that scene reminded me when I had lost my Dad around that same age.
I still loved the movie and the actors, plus I have the book, too😁
Leo is an absolute charmer and has a huge future ahead of him.
Binged watched , cried, had it on my mind all day and rewatch it again the chemistry between the 2 of them was unbelievable
100% the same here!! Cannot stop thinking about it!
Man I thought I m the only strange person who was thinking about the show the whole day after watching it.
Such a piece of art it is. I cried at the end. This show crushed my soul. It's been two days since I watched it and I have no idea when I will be normal again 😢.
I binged watched it till 5am got up at 10 and started from the beginning again and the second time round is so much better.
This stupid never done this before but will be watching again and yea!! Well be I will cry again. Why though???
@@deniseclevenstine1712i watched it three times.
Loved this series ! My favourite part is when Emma says to Dex - I don’t want to be a footnote in the story of your life
It comes in the last episode ending and it’s like a piece of a puzzle fitting into place when you realise that Emma was never a footnote rather she was the entire story of his life …. So poignant and heartbreaking 💔 😢
Stopppp your comment is going to make me bawl all over again
I love this comment! Says it all!
Okay I thought I was over the sadness but your comment made me wanna go back to bed and cry 😭
Yes. For me, i think she feared of loosing him at one point coz he is so hot and charming not because she didn't love him .
It emote perfectly from beginming to end...it definitely was worded so well!
I cried when Dexter was at his father’s house and started sobbing in his bed. Great scene!
Eu também 😢
This series literally killed me… i watched it once… had a breakdown. Took a day or two and then watched it again and had another breakdown,
Sameeee😭😭😭 I cant just get them out of my mind
their chemistry in the series is over the top
What’s crazyyyy is if you look at the reviews so many of them say that have no chemistry. I think it’s just because she’s not traditionally pretty and that’s what people are upset about they were looking for someone as pretty as Anne Hathaway. To be completely honest in the beginning I wasn’t sure I could get into it because I didn’t find her to be very pretty so I felt it would feel fake because he was too good looking for her. But GENUINELY the chemistry was SO good that those thoughts were immediately out the window and I could actually appreciate her and found her to be much more pretty than I initially felt. Completely fell in love with them two
It’s weird, I also began the series thinking he was better looking than her. Now I actually think she is better looking than him. Just look at them in this interview - she is radiant & beautiful. He just looks like a normal guy to me. But yes, she is unconventional so it takes a little time to see it.
It’s not all about looks as you say, their chemistry is off the charts and their performance together will go down in history. Well done to both of them ❤
Ambika is stunning
I hope this series is remembered next year during awards season. I can’t think of anything to fault. The acting, set design, music, script, direction… all superb. Touches you at your core… and the chemistry between the leads… ❤❤❤ I can’t stop thinking about it.
" I dont think u can" was perfect
It was ssooooo True!
A brilliant line, they were always fated to be together even when he married Sylvie and had they had Jasmine.
I’m gonna start watching every movie/show Leo is making now! He’s an amazing actor!
He’s also absolutely gorgeous yum 😋
I binge watched One Day, started balling my eyes out, emptied my tear dry, 4 days later I am still crying especially the scene Dex came out of the shower and found Em standing there OMG!!! I was dead when Em died, when Dex cried his tear drops down his nose I'm tearing right now
Am I the only one that really hoping and praying that when Emma was on her bike on her way to see Dex she won't get into an accident? ugh and it happened, I was like, "No effin way!!!"
In the maze when he was asking if she approved of him marrying - I thought he was wanting her to say don't do it!
I absolutely LOVED this series. Best one I've watched recently. Their chemistry is on top and they broke my heart into pieces at the end. Dex and Em will stay forever in my heart. Love you guys sm!!
I am 72 and I think these two actors have the same chemistry as Ryan o' Neal and Ali Mcgraw in Love Story. The real look of love in Leo's eyes when he looks at Ambika is so like when Ryan O' Neal looks at Mcgraw.
what a beautiful thing to say!
Ambika❤love your acting and your eyes🙌
Is it me or is the chemistry between these two beyond just acting? How fulfilling would it be to see these two together in real life.
Not for me haha. She dominates him. I think she's great and she made me laugh throughout this interview but he just seems so shy and withdrawn. I think his character Dexter would suit Ambika. I think he could manage her.
I don't see it at all, to my disappointment. I just watched the show and thought the interviews would make me hold on to them a bit more but nope, their dynamic in real life is not great :/
I see it, maybe not so much in this one but other interviews scream connection
Ambika and Leo killed this. Wish them all the best
The show was beautiful, in every way. I cried, binged watched…Leo is a brilliant actor, Oscar worthy.
Amazing amazing amazing. I did not expect it…thank you for the brilliant acting.
I watched this show with my wife who I love more than anything in this world, and as a "masculine" guy, I honestly wept. Leo's incredible performance and his realness completely wrecked me 😢
i have no words to describe their acting. really good, their chemistry really strong. Leo can deliver the emotion, i cry when he cried. and when dex showing the wedding invitation to em, my heart hurt. i feels like on Emma side.
gosh, i have post series depression cause i feel empty after finishing the series😢
Ambika was unreal!
As a grown man who doesn’t much care for romance movies/shows… this show got me.
Didn’t know anything about the book or movie. On a whim, decided to watch it. No regrets, This series was absolutely amazing and the acting worthy of a BAFTA. ❤️
I’m obsessed with Leo! And what a doll to admit he cried during Rugrats. Love his authenticity as a person and his incredible talent as an actor. Can’t wait for the movie, Nomad, to debut.
He needs to lay off the junk food he is becoming a chubster.
She dunked on Anne Hathaway performance wise 😭
I've never said "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! quite as hard as in a certain scene as in ONE DAY 😢 Nor cried quite as many tears at the end 😢😢😢
So glad that they mentioned loving About Time, that film is such a great one, and seems quite underrated. The relationships in the family are so beautifully depicted, especially the father-son bond.
Heart-wrenching from beginning to end (when you already know the end) but life-affirming too. Lightning in a bottle performances from the 2 leads, and the perfect companion piece to Normal People.
OMG! Watched all the 14 episodes from morning till evening after my night shift. Never cried so much before from a film or tv till One Day!
Both Ambika and Leo are amazing - but Leo moved me with all his emotions from hi acting. He’s so good -
Nominations are on the way!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Isn't he incredible! The scene that got to me most was in Episode 12 in the Paris apartment after Emma had left with her new boyfriend. The sight of Leo welling up with tears broke my heart. So emotional!
Didn’t even know there was a movie. Went into it cold and cried so much at the end of the mini series 😭😭😭…I really wanted them to be happy 😭😭😭
I loved when Dex and Em, we're in the Maze❤❤❤
" I fancy you", I learn this in this series.😄😍
OMG, I just finished watching it. I watched all 14 epispdes today😭😭 I read the book and have watched the film long time agp but this Netfix one is the best!!!! I think It's because of these two gorgeous acters♥️♥️♥️♥️
Both are incredibly good in acting! Leo just moved me with all his emotions from his expressions 👏🏼👏🏼
‘I don’t think you can is also my absolute favourite part in the movie! ❤
One Day made me cry and I'm 66 OAP Best Movie I've watched in ages. Excellant, Loved It.
This series brought out emotion that we at some time in our lives have experienced. Lost love due to bad timing. The raw emotions these two evoked was amazing. I don’t do romance dramas but this one got me after the first episode ❤
My eyes were so swollen the next morning wtf it was like I went through my own heartbreak
While watching this i realise.. Ok it was only a movie.. They are both alive and well. I watched it twice...and still go back to some scenes...not the last two 😢you are are amazing awesome brilliant actors.
I cried my heart out! Amazingly beautiful series.
Leo was amazing.. What an amazing actor...i was in tears towards the end.. Great series
I love you both Ambika and Leo. Brilliant acting . 👏👏👏
Loved the series. Was so consumed by it and watched it all within 24 hours. So amazing…they brought the house down. Bravo!❤️🥳❤️
Just finished watching the whole series and I loved it ♥️💕😍🥰
BUT...
The last episode broke my heart into pieces…emotional damage unlocked 💔😔😪😭😭😭😭
#Dex&Emforever 🫶
for real 😢
So sad ending😢😢
Me too. 😢😢😢
Wow their personalities really match who they played!
Absolutely wonderful! The acting and chemistry between these two seems so real. I wish we could have more of them.
Dexter and Emma should have a happy life together. After they passed many things, I cried for their love ❤️
I loved this interview cos we get to know a little bit about the lead actors
I loved it, but the ending I sobbed so much 😭
ambika and ayo in a comedy would be everything
❤❤❤😢 great show. Their acting had me invested watched in two days
ambika is really smart. prospective actor❤
This series was so beautifully made ❤
You guys are amazing.. and your chemistry ❤... I love the film..
If they don’t do another project together I’m going to lose my mind fr the end of the series ruined me 😢
I also cried when I watched that rugrats movie scene 😭
One day was a master piece.
I’m usually not the person to watch a series all over again but I loved this one so much that I feel like I’ve to rewatch it.. both actors have such a great chemistry and portrayed their roles so well
I didn’t think she would be able to pull off being the sofisticated, older version I couldn’t imagine her aging, but she smashed it! She totally proved me wrong xx
Leo Woodall's speech in the bar in Paris about his daughter visiting... omg, such great acting. Weirdly, I have a suspicion he might tend to think of himself as just a pretty face.
This show was so amazing 🥺
I LOVE that they’re both lotr fans
Q serie tan buena, q actores tan brillantes. Realmente me impacto. Tuve q verla d nuevo. Ella una actriz q transmite muchísimo sentimiento. Los felicito una pareja con mucha química.😊❤
The series is so organized. I love it! Inlove with it and these 2❤❤❤
Loved it. I am ready to rewatch it all over again. 😊
Got the impression at 00:01:15 he’s about the say “I thought she was very pretty” but had to be careful with his words as he’s got a gf already 🤣 then he says I was nervous too.
I thought of that too😁
mmdivndifuvidvni this dang show was so good like i literally internally cry at random periods of the day just thinking about how beautiful and heartbreaking it was
Leo hasn't read the book or watched the movie prior to the audition, so he is just naturally the perfect casting for the book description of Dex.
Reminded me of a more serious Lovesick.❤❤❤❤❤ it.
Left handers WINING.❤
I love them sm. more projects with them plss. 😢😢😢😢
Nothing will come between these two and their love for lotr - an unbreakable bond imo
Beautiful series
Brutiful portrayals of the characters. I also really appreciated Dexter’s parents/the actors who portrayed them and the writing behind those story lines. Beautiful.
The night of the anniversary when Dexter is a drunken mess, and his father pulls him out of the car. The dirty house, the diner on a plate that was just cold meat, the loneliness they now share together… that’s the scene that made me cry. Knowing his father knew what he felt. Even though he didn’t know how to communicate it. That’s when the tears came out.
I can't take my eyes off of Ambika, I'll probably have to watch this a few more times. ♥️🤔🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Leo... what a talented actor......
truly !
This show wrecked me. Sobbing, full body heartbreak.
Gotta give some love to Olivia! Thought the reporter asked some great questions for this interview as well. Like the persons aid below me, the performances and cinematography were amazing!
I’m gonna be depressed for the last six months. Great show!
Love them love the series…❤
Leo why so handsome?😩😩😩🤣🤣🤣
6:25 YES!! That's the first time in my life I've ever heard someone else talk about that scene in Rugrats! I sobbed as a kid 😂
Love them❤ watched in Two days, i couldnt rezist, the end tragic íve cried
I cried for all the episodes 😅😅😅
I couldn't stop watching. Hardly got any sleep.
As an audience, I cannot get out from the show for days, I have been feeling sad for the ending. For actors, how they adjust their emotions from the the drama to reality?
4:44 such a cutie i love him
They should date
If he gets the right roles, he'll be one on the Biggest ever! Amazing actor!!!
Just finist the serries god job😊
I loved the series, they were both adorable kids in it. When I occasionally watch interviews ( usually to see if I guessed the country of origin of the actor correctly I'm watching in a show or film) I usually regret it.
This is the best interview I’ve seen with them! Everyone else asks them the same questions and doesn’t let them talk enough! Kudos :) also I love them and one day broke me 🥲
I loved this movie ! It really was true to life. ❤
One Day, it's A1 in my book of must-see shows on Netflix, as I wrote earlier, I felt we were dealing with the same growing up issues we all face, lack of maturity being a biggie, especially in this particular storyline. You could be forgiven for thinking Emma is streets ahead of Leo in the grown up area. In my opinion, you're wrong of course, they are both lost in the valley of self-awareness, problem with that is, there's no such thing as a valley of awareness, so I guess, that they are still caught up in the 'it's all about me and how I feel about everything BS.' Neither of them know it, but they are pretty much on the same bus, the same ride, but being so much more interested in themselves, they are looking for a night off from the same old ride, and we all know what 'ride' means for Leo, a regular journey, a bit of part-time travel away from that most frightening of things, growing up. Emma's the same, she's just decided to not be as obvious as someone like Leo, and has opted for the scenic route! Somewhere, lost in all that growing up, which involves an awful lot of self-centred thinking and behaviour, these two people, have, and they are totally unaware of it, because self has a habit of hiding the most interesting, and sometimes the most important things at precisely the right, or wrong moment, in this case, it's right, because they ain't ready for what this might turn out to be. The Charles Dickens quote says it all, does it not! I've noted comments such as Leo carries it, that why I watched it right through, that one was enough to make me gag on me coffee, ya what, I thought? Wouldn't it have been more authentic to say something like, I fancied Leo, I wish I was Emma! Now, back for what I settled for! The thing is, this film/show has a rare chemistry in play, it's not often you see it, whoever supervised the casting knew what they were about. But, the genius is in the telling of the story, so after giving the actors their fair dues, and they sure deserve the high praise they are both getting! There are three stars in this series, your two main actors, and the writer of the original book, David Nicholls, after watching this particular Netflix series, I intend taking a look at some of this author's other work.
Might I suggest, if you can get it in your area, hemisphere, check out ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE, another Netflix series, different, significantly from ONE DAY. But, like ONE DAY, I've got to say it, it's special. The original author is Anthony Doerr. Mr Doerr won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for this particular Tome, an award, I would have say, that is very much deserved. Same thing happened with this series as happened after I saw ONE DAY on Netflix, I immediately went out and purchased the book, very smart of me to have done so, what a marvellous book, what an incredible imagination Mr Doerr has! Different genre, yes, but both writers share the same immensely thrilling ability to write a captivating novel! Such a treat!
Not Leo crying about Rugrats 😂😂😂 I love being the same age as him cause we grew watching the same stuff
Omg same like I knew exactly what scene he was talking about cause I cried about the same scene as a kid 🤣🤣🤣
I loved this story
