The problem in the racing pigeon world i suggest is the same as in the Rabbit showing world, the only people really interested in the job are getting older , the membership drops so less funds available and with no new entrants because of lack of instant reward the sport dies out , I admire your attempts Dan and wish you well, if every club in the country could get just one new member per year it would be a start

Please keep providing this style of communication Dan, its helping us all understand the bigger picture.
Maybe a video to help us understand the Hall report would give some traction??

Thnx chaps.V enlightening. Its clear we need a prometheus of change with subsequent power to root out loss-making parts of the 'business'.It's high time we adopted modern methods where necessary. The gd old days of the Penny Black are long gone.We need an elected group who embrace this. That requires effort...nay revolution.I'm not hopeful but we should try.

good video Dan not that it effects me in the states but u got the message and the reasons put in the open as i said to u before this is my first yr going to fly my club fees are $350 a yr and the one concourse i’m flying is $275 (Boston ) normally $350 and the other concourse is $400 so that’s a pretty penny to start flying

Great video Dan, and excellent presentation.
It's crazy how obvious the answers are yet, they are being ignored by those who like the status quo. Its shocking how these 1% or regional reps are resisting the changes and ruining the sport, that they are supposedly holding so dear.
When they truly are protecting their positions not the sport.
One member one vote is such a simple thing to implement with todays technology. I've known regional reps in my past and it sadly seems nothing has changed.
Build a proper website, with online subs, and online voting for only registered members, its so simple, its difficult to believe it's not already being done.

Well done on the video would be fantastic if you could do a live one with Ian and John so we could ask questions.trying to get a new rule through at club level is hard enough and in some case impossible people don’t like change with the saying if it’s not broken don’t fix it but the RPRA is broken and it needs fixing 👍

A very good presenter. From my experience at club level the non computer users only had the Homing World to keep them advised. It never happened.

As a previous member of council. If you think that the councillors on the RPRA council vote according to their mandate ............ YOU ARE DREAMING! Why did the numbers of councillors not get reduced? ........TURKEYS VOTING FOR CHRISTMAS. This rule was proposed by the Southern Region in about 2006/7. Also there was a proposition to keep the council fresh by not allowing councillors to remain on council for more than three years in a stretch. It was a bunch of self congratulatory old men who had NO IDEA how to run a business. I left when they paid £60,000 to a relative of Peter Bryant to improve the IMAGE of pigeon fanciers. They were deluded and criminally irresponsible.

it seems to me nothing much has changed, I raced in a small club and like you I was the youngest member this was about 40yrs ago I remember when I tried to use a junior t3 they were not happy let alone ETS, in this day and age most if not all could be done online and digitally, but unfortunately there is still the age of the members to contend with

RPRA , sent a text or email or letter out , and let us members vote . It’s a lot of time consuming for regionals to attend.
Personally I would love to have my distance calculated better because of the dog leg . Same people win and same people don’t have a cat in hell chance but expected to pay fed fees of £285 plus club plus travelling every week.
    Just needs sorting out

    Hi .
I have had pigeons most my life . And recently got them back after a 7 year break ( no fault of my own or the birds )
The frustration is real . I actually interviewed for the development officers job with the rpra in about 2017 .
I was talking about technology, media , how to promote it. One of my comments I remember was , they have fishing on sky sports and talk sport .. surely pigeon racing can get a look in ..
all they wanted to know was about schools and handling a budget ??
That’s not gonna appeal to anyone . Oh here’s a pigeon colour it in ? At 8 years old .. might be a good hour for the kid but it ain’t gonna go anywhere.
They need young blood along with experience.
Use technology. Because let’s face it that’s what’s gonna happen remember all the ets moaning know they all got it
My point is it has to move with the times .
Rant over . Thanks . Up the pigeons . 👍

I decided to start up with pigeons October 2023. I went on rpra website it said to join region so I did got a card for 2023 when racing was finished. I rang the secretary asking for the club in my area they didn’t know it as I was on the edge of the region an area they didn’t know. Took me a fair bit of time finding different clubs close which I wasn’t in the area for before I got a contact for someone at the correct club I needed. Quite shocking really to me makes the regions pointless if they can’t give club to join. Am 34 and everything was done by post. I understand and accept older membership and post is required but a mixture should be done

Joining was easy yes paper and post. The problem for me was trying to find a club to join. I expected rpra could give me my local club secretary but no. Took me quite a while and multiple phone calls to different people and clubs before finding the correct one. Luckily I have joined a good club with helpful guys who have gifted me some birds to start off.
It’s more a point of why join the rpra if they can’t even give me local club information. Extremely poor on there part. To grow the sport is impossible with things like that happening.

i spoke to Richard chambers last week he was telling me that the new way to report lost birds by text to a phone number only 50 people used that to report bird then was by phone call to the rpra and 1st was by letters sent in so 85% of members still report lost bird by sending letters to the rpra so people don't want to use the technology that there

I think it should go to digital if you are a fancier to save money. The way around it is every club nominates a person who is reposible for reorting the birds within a club. I would take on that role.

we defiantly need dragging into this century kicking and screaming when I started in 22 the biggest shock I had was that I had to dig out my check book and post an application form in the mail and not just put in my card details.
the whole sport needs to be modernised and given a new breath of life this is year 3 for me and I'm now in the 2nd club as the sectary had to retire and no one wanted the job so the club has gone most members are older than me I'm in my late 40's there are only a small number of younger members and the older ones only have so many years of racing left in them when there gone there will not be enough members to keep it going the future is not looking good

I have come from poultry to pigeons. Poultry is £26 a year membership so £35 isn’t majorly different. As regarding British homing world I at fancyfowl the poultry publication has this your gone to online only because it couldn’t afford to continue otherwise. I personally prefer paper copies but business accounts have to come first.

Physical copies are more tangible and easy to pick up and read without excessive screen time aren't they? If not enough people enjoy the content enough to buy it then either the content should change or the physical copies disappear.

This stream reveals what should have happened at the time 2016?, that the Hall Report was right AND VERY necessary.
I predict the Hall Report will still be ignored as which of the 13 region "politicians" will give up their position for the benefit of THE FUTURE OF THE RPRA?

    • @pigeonracerTV
      @pigeonracerTV  4 місяці тому

It seems like that's what Ian and John were saying. It also appears that the way to get change is for members to group together and force it in each of the regions. Will that happen? It depends how many of those that feel aggrieved go on to act.
