- Опубліковано 30 чер 2024
- I've been in my Airstream Bambi 16rb for just a few months...and I ripped off both of my back legs! It was totally my fault. I was too anxious to break camp to flee some RV creepers. Today, I'll tell you all about that boondocking experience in Nevada and show you my leg repair.

This is why as a single traveler I prefer to have access to the cab from inside the camper, so I can get the heck out of Dodge FAST.
I’m with you…I’ve thought about RVing and as a single woman am thinking about class B or small Class C for that reason?
Yup…therefore I have a van.
A pass through is an absolute must!
Bad weather too....pull over or just take a nap
Nobody sees who is inside.
Yep. Vanlifer.
I remember those types of days... the strange men that would show up and never leave me alone. Having a large dog helps to curb that behavior, especially one that doesn't like strangers.
There’s an official term for those two creepers : PREDATORS . So glad you have good instincts and pay attention to them. Stay safe - we love you ♥♥♥
Never mind etiquette. Always go with your gut. If it doesn't feel right, leave.
Knocking on your door four times a day is a creepy warning sign, that they're up to no good. Glad you felt your spidey sense & left.
FYI, learned the hard way when a man warns about creepers, he’s the creeper and…those with him already know.
Thanks for this data
Robin...GOID STUFF
BINGO !!!
If i have put something unusual under my rig that I dont want to forget or crush when i drive away, i stick a note on my steering wheel that i cant miss, even if not yet awake.
I use slap stick kids bracelets- I label them to remember things. Like yellow one labeled leveling blocks- blue one labeled propane to remember to turn it off. Ect, ect.
I put a red sock on.the g 0:48 ear shift and on the road it's on my antenna crank. So 2 birds with one sock :)
Could spray paint those legs orange or bright yellow so they're noticeable (tho I don't think you'll ever forget them know) 😅
@@SunVegan I make myself a sign with a checklist
I'm a solo female and I've only been camping full time since last August. I'm ready to quit already simply because of the creepers. Sometimes they just stare. Sometimes they just be creepin'. Sometimes they are trying to intimidate me to leave the area. Whatever it is, I'm tired of it.
Go get trained and certified, then open carry a revolver.
I’ve been to Telephone Cove and after arriving on a Monday found it to be scenic and serene. Definitely worth the drive. But as the week progressed, the crowd got creepier and creepier. Took off Friday morning and survived to tell the tale. Glad that you did as well!
your a few minutes from Vegas, that's why
Airstream legs can be replaced. Your safety is more important!
The PSA about camping etiquette was hilarious! That guy was a giant weirdo. Who does that?
They're out there. Once, when I was tent camping with my late husband, two weirdos set up camp RIGHT NEXT to our spot, when there was a whole shoreline of empty camping places. They then tried to give our dogs treats to befriend them. (Our dogs were watchdogs, straight off the farm and refused the treats, lol) As soon as that happened, we packed up and moved somewhere else.
@@NYCHFAN So glad you left. That could've been a whole different story!
Creepers... UGH
I,ve actually...asked people....Is there a reason you camped ....So super close,to me?? Are you trying to send me some sort of message? Then....just Ask me.
Oh gross. 😮 So sorry that happened to you.
I loved the PSA. I learned that creepers have nothing to loose, that is why they still creep. I am sorry you had to face that, and that it cost money!! Can't wait to see the next installment. Thank the Lord for friends. I know you have an adorable cat, but maybe you could get a recording of a crazy dog bark that is on a motion sensor, so when someone creeps they will be warned.
*lose
As a female truck driver I believe women should have something that would cause a creeper to reconsider if he has something to lose or not...
Totally!!🤣
Love the eyes and glad all is good. I drove off and left my folding towel / clothes rack sitting on top of my tiny camper. I checked all around but forgot to look up😅.
yep I've had those creepers around at camp.. must be a club , they seem to run in 2s.
that is one of the reasons I sold my camper and bought a short bus. If I feel weird, I'm outta there more easily than when I was in the camper. Glad you got away from them! maybe set up a camera in the back of the camper and put on ph or a monitor.. I know it sounds 'paranoid' but ya almost have to be paranoid these days -
You always trust your gut, always!!! Better safe than sorry!!!!
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you. 😊
Why would anyone think it’s ok to go knocking at a stranger’s door at all hours? 😳
Bumper Humper...funny!! That is how I feel when I use a multi stall restroom, it is empty.....and someone comes in and picks the stall right next to me. Maybe there should be a name for that too. 😂
Omg yes! Why do they do that?!
I had my leg ripped off one, only I was feeing the police, not creepers.
I was 11 or 12 when my friends thought it might be fun to runaway if we saw a cop. It was a stupid, childish idea, especially for me. Out of all my friends I was the slowest runner for reasons I will make clear presently.
The cop caught me just as I reached the top of a fence. He grabbed my right leg and started pulling, so I just relaxed my leg, with allowed the strap of my prosthetic to be pulled past my knee cap. (this was early 1980's. I can tell you, I don't miss that damn strap)
The poor cop was left holding onto holding just my leg, with me no longer attached to me.
I jumped down and tried hopping away, which was pointless. My parents were not going to buy me a new leg just because the police had my old, still perfectly good leg.
Suggestion: for peace of mind, a couple sets of back up cameras, properly attached you can have 360° view of your camper. Not only will they help with your peace of mind , out boondoggle, you could enjoy watching wildlife, ie deer, coyotes, etc. If you need to warn someone off, hit the lock button on your key fob, you’ll get your headlights off and on, and a short beat, if that doesn’t work hit the panic button that will attract attention that an intruder does not want .. stay safe see you down the road
Robin I too ripped off two of my stabilizers my first month out in my 17’ Jayco. My mantra is “but did anyone die?” BDAD. If not then it’s all going to be ok! 👍🏼
Love your "upgraded" jack cover! That's a great little smile maker for those who might need an unexpected lift to their day while traveling down the highway.
The creepers may have done their act intentionally to get you to leave so they could have the whole place to themselves. Those bad boys!
Or waited till she was vulnerable enough to attack.
@@kele1264 true that!
HOPEFULLY SHE IS ARMED AND THEY WOULD HAVES A RUDE AWAKENING!?
@@Tammy121111 That works for me! I hope she never has to resort to that, because it changes the trajectory of your life, but safety first!!
I think I would have told the guy I had something for him and he better keep his distance from my rig and space. Sneaking up on me is a good way to get yourself shot.
I always wonder about your safety with so many (CREEPERS) out now ,be healthy and safe !
You're a great "Sponsor" for yourself, and a real education for those unawares. Thanks for the laugh!🤩
Oh my😬 Good to know you're safe. I've always wondered how I'd do if some situation happens. Great reminder to leave at crack of dawn safer in my opinion.
I have subscribed and followed you for years. Appreciate your shout out to Rocking B Mobile RV as well. My husband and I prefer "at will" camping and your creeper experience is something we all need to be cautious about. Glad you followed your intuition but sorry about the rear stabilizing legs. Also we just bought a 2020 and your video on state title laws served us very well! We did need to have the sellers signature notarized in AZ. Continue your journeys, art and adventures!
Creepers come in all shapes, sizes, and
and own a variety of RV’s. Some were handsome, had teeth, and hair. I never spoke to anyone unless I met them outside distanced by at least 6 feet. If anyone knocked on my RV or the door, I asked who it was and explained that I never answer my door during the day or night. I they tell me they need something, I tell them I can call the police for them. I don’t share much, if anything at all.
So sorry this happened to you. Trust your instincts. Although inconvenient having to get new jacks, your life is more valuable. Safe travels.
Ha! Your a riot and absolutely right on about other campers. Those are the reasons i no longer travel so much in my 5th wheel. I cant stand most people anymore.
The "sponsor" speaks the truth!
My wife and i use the 2nd Amendment And remember ,You wouldn't have the 1st without the 2nd
"Jeeper's Creeper's, Where'd you get those Peeper's ? ( 🤩 )....( 🤩 )
also Robin, you need to start being rude on public land!! don't give other people an in.... do not respond, walk away when they approach and if they still keep trying, tell them you want nothing to do with anyone and that's why you're out there... it's a safety move. and camera up on the exterior of your RV. people tell me they see my cameras and instinctively stay away.
Buy two cowbells. Put each one on leash to a jackstand, you'll hear them if you try to move. Or put a big ribbon on each one, and drape the ribbons on your steering wheel after you put the jackstands down.
Like the ribbons the pilots all use:"REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT".
Sorry you encountered creepers. Thank you for the PSA. Loved the googley eyes! 😘🖖🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
Creeper neighbors are so much fun!I had one recently and left first thing the next morning l o l
I'm glad you're doing OK, I have been following you for years from the class C's RV's and now Airstream and I'm gonna say Bambi and your new tow vehicle really suits you to a tee don't ask me why but it does. Stay safe stay strong stay healthy God bless and enjoy life.👍✌💪💖🎅🚌🌻
I have a 16 foot Bambi also. I have to go through my laminated check list each and every time I set up and tear down. I get forgetful. Hopefully I will never have to break down quickly to escape creepers!!!
Love the googly eyes! The second trip Hubby and I took in our RV we returned home and Hubby did not wait for me to get out of the RV to assist him backing up. This was before we got the back up camera on the RV. Needless to say, he backed into the stone wall in front of our house and ripped off the right rear stabilizer jack. I always get out now. Lesson learned.
I'm glad you are okay. Wishing you safe travels. Tip: setup a recording of big barking dog for when a stranger knocks on the door.
Love the PSA about camping etiquette. Many can learn from that. Last trip we had a very secluded site that a couple and their dog walked right through. Next to the truck and trailer under our dinette window.
They could have been casing the joint, or just plain stupid.
@@tennesseeterri totally agree.
“Bumper Humper”…..😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣…. I’ve not heard that before!
Glad you got out of there.
Hi Robin, I'm a single guy in a converted van interior and I try my best to be respectful of other's spaces but there has been times I needed to talk to my traveling neighbors and just like me, we all like to stay inside our rigs! But there are times I have to ask them to turn down the LOUD Music or Generator! I'm handicapped, so leaving early in the morning isn't an option! Any suggestions on other things I can do? I like to join your CRV Tribe and I have property for others to park at for a month or two!!
I like that term "bumper humper".
When people get to close by me on the road I say that they are trying to "butt f..." my car!
I hate it, it's dangerous, it's rude, it's illegal, etc, etc, etc...
I also hate people parking too close to me when I'm camping!
Lots of people travel to get away from crowds!!!
All those people that like crowd should camp in or very close to town!
Yeah, we all make mistakes. Lessons learned. My worse so far was not latching the sliding bathroom door. It came off at the top but fortunately my mild tempered and forgiving husband was able to make the necessary repairs. I try to go through my checklist slowly now. I totally understand the hurry though. Stay safe! 😊
I sold my minivan because after traveling all around the southwest US, I couldnt get one decent nights sleep due to people creeping around my vehicle. I did find one remote campsite in the desert which was beautiful but somebody always seemed to drive up near me at 1am in the morning and freak me out. I have a dog- that doesnt stop nosy people from being creepy. The only way I would camp and travel is if I had a HUGE vehicle with flood lights and a shotgun. Its very dangerous out in the world right now for single women.
That is just sad. I’m So sorry to hear that you had to resort to selling your minivan and give up your dream of traveling and experiencing new places just because of all the sickos out there! That just infuriates me. Even just going out for a nice hike or going fishing alone women have to be careful. Why can’t women just enjoy the same outdoor lifestyle and activities without always having to look over their shoulders or being harassed?!
I'm on my own too. I always try to park in such a way that I leave myself an out. I've got a motorhome (small) instead of trailer so I don't have to go outside if I'm not comfortable with the situation. A loyal, protective dog and a shotgun round out my safety plan. (I don't travel to states that I can't have my shotgun). Being prepared for human predators is an unfortunate fact of life, always has been.
I agree with you on camping etiquette and I just wish all campers were that courteous. Always good to watch your videos. Happy travels.
Funny thing Robin, I have heard more than 1 creeper stories exactly like yours!
I think these 2 creepers play this creeper game together?
One warning you about the other a con game. Beware Campers.
I got an electric jack installed on my Airstream. It is actually priceless! Looks like you got the same one. Only thing is, that if you don't use it manually...ever...when you need to, it won't budge.
So sorry about the creepers and ripping off your stabalizer legs! Don’t feel too bad, I ripped one off the first week I was in my trailer! 🤦♀️. Fortunately, I was able to get it fixed and didn’t need to buy a new one! 🙏
Loved the commercial from the sponsor!! You were awesome!!!
Thank you for sharing! Can't stand those creepers!
Your PSA!! 😂😂😂 I'm so happy you have good friends to help you, and I say it's better to lose a couple of stabilizing legs than your life. ❤❤
Love the list of RV etiquette ..
Its common sense for most of us .. lol 😂
Glad you're safe !!
Gonna go with Cecilia, THE PSA was on point, informaive and True. Creeper #1 was a POS......priceless. Enjoy every one fo your vids.
Glad that you are safe, crazy stuff happens. Thank you for sharing, love your channel. Hello from Colorado!!!
Hey Robbin I usually put a bucket over my tongue jack to protect it while parked and you always need a bucket for something
Somehow I read the headline and thought you were fleeing small frogs, and couldn't understand why it was an emergency!
I thought it was creeper vines with stickers & she tore the skin on her legs! (OK, yes, I did this last week while mowing. Those blackberry vines are ferocious!)
I thought of the nifty wheeled thingamajigs that mechanics use to slide under cars easily....
I thought she had torn the skin off her own legs too!
OMG GIRL!!! You Absolutely Crack Me Up!! I love your videos. Keep the camera rolling!! Safe Travels!!
Happy you are safe and getting fixed up!!
Appreciate you telling it as it is!😊
Sorry to hear about your expenses. You handled them very nicely. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the road!🚙🌅👍
Love your truth, optimism, and way cool sense of humor. 💕💕
Be sure to watch this video until the end for some fun!!

I am sooo happy to be back watching your channel. I have missed you! 😂
Love the PSA Robin!😆 sorry you had to deal with creeps🤦♀️
Everybody needs a wonderful friend like that!
Yes, this is normal life, but your attitude is great and your a very smart lady, so take a deep breath you can handle it.
Hey Robin, I almost tore the stabilizers off of my little trailer too! But I didn’t have the creeper reason. I just plain forgot! 🤦🏼♀
I just found you! Been my and hubby's dream to RV travel. He has heart failure, we are not going together. I will go alone, one day. Your help is INVALUABLE. You get a sub!! ❤❤ Jeannie in Lakeport California
You call them creepers, I call them asshats. Glad you got outta there!
So glad I found you again
Stay safe 🤗You're so brave
Always go with your Gut 😊 Well done 👏
Sorry that happened! It's understandable and so glad you could resolve it so quickly! The Creeper Incident for sure - creeps! Carry on and enjoy.
Robin. Glad you are safe. If you don’t already have a electric drill to assist in those rear jacks. Had one for my trailer years ago it was fast up and down. Take care enjoy your adventures
Yup. I keep the appropriate sized socket with my vehicle scissor jack and use my dewalt drill to quickly work the jack.
Very good point! Drill makes big diff
I do not like propane tank covers!
It makes it too hard to glance at every couple of days as I walked by.
You should probably do a video on how to use automatic changeover propane valves for people that don't know how to use them correctly.
Those automatic changeover valves are a lifesaver for me!
I lived in my trailer for 4 years and never ran out of propane because of them, even in freezing temperatures.
Lots of people are either too ignorant too lazy to glance at those automatic changeover valve every couple of days, and then they gripe about running out of propane. 😄😆😃
When I bought my trailer used I didn't even know about those, but I figured out how to use it in just a few minutes.
Always leave both tank valves all the way open!
When you see the red indicator pop-up then flip the valve to the other tank because it's already using from that new tank. Then refill the empty one , put it back on and open the valve!
Apparently some people like to keep their tanks covered, maybe they're ashamed of them.
To me it's a part of camping and I'm proud to let my tanks show! But keep them locked on with chains and/or locks! 😃😁
I just love the way they switch from one tank to the other in the middle of the night when it's snowing outside!!!
They will never take from both tanks at the same time!!! If it does then there's something wrong with it and it needs to be replaced.
Camping World wanted $80 for replacing it back in the 1980s. By I went to a propane dealer that sold me the same thing for $20.00!!! 😁😃❤️
I know that Robin may never read most of the comments on here, but I figure my comments might help somebody out of there. 😃
This is my second episode, first one was with my wife in the car. Super stoked to be a subscriber. 👍
Good thing you have a sense of humor and lots of friends
Really liked the etiquette part! I'm still a tent camper and the comparison of lights with a Walmart Pkg lot was great! You might also add not to shine bright lights on other campers when leaving predawn. 👏
Love your videos Robin. Save travels.
So sorry for the issues with airstream legs. Dang it! But better you are safe!
Exactly, love it
Hi Robyn, glad you used your gut and got out of there, safety is #1, trailer legs can be replaced.. where did you get your electric jack cover? Loved the eyes on it also 👍
Real life happens, thanks for sharing...
Good job, always fallow your gut instinct !!
make sure you know how to raise and lower it in case your battery is dead or worse a tooth on the jack breaks. We had that happen when we had a 36ft TT.
Robin, you're really funny! 😆 Here endeth the lesson!
I always used a very tall tongue jack support so I don't have to crank it very much. Usually several short pieces of 4X4 stacked log cabin style. Just crank down for a few seconds, throw those pieces of wood in the back of the truck.
I also carried pieces of boards to make ramps when necessary.
I use very inexpensive pyramid Jack's or one ton hydraulic jacks with short extensions for short stays. Otherwise I don't even put supports under the backend.
If I'm just pulling over to sleep for a while I don't even put the tongue jack down.
Just jump into the truck and go!
I really missed a nice camping setup I had back in the 80s.
It was a mid-80s diesel pick up with a 24ft tt.
I had previously tried a slide in camper but it was too small for me.
I love your videos.
I really got interested while caregiving for a man that had one. It is a DOMICILE in California!! I know how to do a lot of stuff, just going with him to get water, dump, etc. Even learned more, from his mistakes...😂😂
Jeepers Creepers! How scary, I truly admire you Robin. Loved how you créated a smiling face for the cover. 😊 🤩
We are getting our Norcold converted to 12v/120v by JC Refrigeration and are so excited! You should look into it. Much more affordable than a new Norcold or even repairing the Norcold.
You have some of the most interesting excursions. Glad you got out of there.
Hey now. ft van dweller here. I know that I'm in the minority, but I see the fire rings left behind as scars on the earth (certainly not leave no trace). I'm the one who picks up other people's broken glass, tp, tin cans, etc - haul it out when I can - but might deposit in a fire ring (better than strewn around the forest).
I like your video as always. Very informative.
Love the googley eyes ! I learn a lot from you..Thanks !!
Sounds like the movie RV with robin Williams. Lol they left at dawn in a hurry to get away from unwanted neighbors and lost their awning and cabinet when pulling in the slide. Lol. So sorry your experiencing all of this chaos. Safe travels ❤
😂😂😂
You will love the new jack!
I remember Moving Forward Adventures had a creeper that was trying to play with Belle 🐕. Let's just say she didn't like the creeper.
You have awesome friends!❤️❤️❤️
You have your 5th wheel and the Bambi...do you still have your truck camper too?
I have an electric jack and you're gonna love it!!!
