Hi Calvin best video on UA-cam on how to sharpen hedge trimmers - I've spent days looking! roughly what spec compressor are you running to power that tool? Trying to work out what has the guts for my needs
    thanks mate

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. Many thanks for the comments. My compressor is 3hp about 15cfm 150 ltr tank. Even about 12cfm would run a little die grinder or sander easy for this job. Cheers. Calvin

@@CalvinThomas05 oh that’s awesome, I went for similar spec in the end so glad to hear that will work! Now trying to work out if it will run a little sand blaster…

looked nice & sharp. i found a big difference when i use narrow end of flat file to take burr off the back.

Hi thegeordiefellwaker. Thanks for the comments. Yes I used to knock the burrs off the back. I'd say you have to with normal blades but this type I find the opposed blade edge is dull so it just knocks it off if there is any burr there. Cheers Calvin

Nicely done man! My hedge trimmer could use a good sharpening. I use a pneumatic 3" angle grinder for sharpening most things like this. For larger blades like mowers and brush hogs I used a flapper wheel on a 4.5" grinder. Thanks for sharing!

Many thanks denny's Country Life. Yes I have tried normal grinders over the years but My background is car body work and I used to work for ford dealerships ( 10 years ) as a panel beater. That's why I use the rolocs with a air sander because I'm so used to it for bodywork. I just realised that they work well for sharpening things too. I use a 4 1/2" fibre disc for sharpening mower blades. All the best Calvin

Needed that demo for the power scythe next year. Hope my straight die grinder's not too big and fast for the job. Should have been using roloc discs long ago. Used to use sandpaper rolls, forget the name. Small cylinders of sandpaper rolled up that wear like flap discs. Best with straight grinders.

Hi Tom. Yes I like the using the rolocs because they are flat which I think is easier to use. My background is car body work and I used to work for ford dealerships ( 10 years ) as a panel beater. That's why I use the rolocs with a air sander because I'm so used to it for bodywork. I just realised that they work well for sharpening things too. Cheers Calvin

Calvin- That's what I thought from the paint booth. I also have a paint booth, homemade. I painted the metal work I built with enamel. Now it stores equipment and supplies since I had to shut down in the crash. Always interested me how auto body men handled thin metal. I never worked thinner than 14 gauge. I hope your current occupation is more peaceful and rewarding, knocking the dents outta those shrubs. Don't miss the noise of working steel.

A Dremmel will work as well.

Dremel is good but I like the method he showed in the video. He can get in position without the wheel spinning and then control the trigger. I think that is very valuable for this application.
