The Late 90's - Early 00's was an experimental era for Lego when they didn't have the rights to a lot of popular franchises just yet. The short-lived Galidor franchise, for instance (which was a subtle ripoff of Mega Man and Star Wars, before Lego could make Lego Star Wars video games and TV shows), wasn't very Lego-ish either, but it was still pretty cool nonetheless, imo. So I suppose "Lego Friends" was meant to be nothing more than a racially-diverse, cartoon-game version of the Friends TV series, which was still relevant at the time. My theory is that perhaps the game was just a spur-of-the-moment idea to appeal to trendy kids and the creators thought it'd be more hip & appealing to make the characters realistically human instead of Lego minifigures. And perhaps making Lego minifig versions of the characters was too challenging for the time because of the unique hairstyles, dances and so forth... (But at least the game's outer layout is Lego-ish) Also, Johnny Thunder was a ripoff of Indiana Jones and Jack Stone was a rescue-hero version of Mega Man.
This has given me peace of mind. I've been trying to find this bs for a while. It's not even nostalgic, I just needed to know it wasn't just a dream. The music part was really cool tho... I just didn't get the rest of the stuff.
They also don't have a nose, just like Lego figures... ;-) and a surprise birthday party is just like one of the 'new Friends' episodes. Also the idea of performing/dancing (Andrea in the story + Lego Friends Music Maker app on mobile) .. it's somewhat similar-ish... (or just very generic :-D)
This is basically the whole game. All it's missing are more of the CD-I esque cartoon shorts. Functionally, all that seems to be taken out is the ability to watch performances you have created on the stage instead of in a practice room.
OMG I remember playing this game for HOURS back in like 2001!!!
Kitty Buu OMG SAMEEE
I had this game in elementary school. Nostalgia. But it really had nothing to do with Lego.
+Triangle717 Lego dome racers?
@@LakoIsFun those vehicles were still made of Lego technic parts though.

I mean, it limits how much you can create but honestly how much is that really robbing you of?
+Pereki Well, for starters it's letting you know how much you DON'T need to buy the game.
my sister still has this!
Can’t believe I found this aa so much nostalgia
Purple Moon was way more better than this.
Allegedly, this was a lego game.
LEGO Friends 👫
Very ugly game and does not related to any LEGO elements like bricks and minifigures.
