Walt Disney Animation Studios presents a heartwarming comedy-adventure set in the modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia. With habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it's a melting pot where animals from every environment live together-a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn't so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with fast-talking, scam-artist fox Nick Wilde to solve the mystery

Don’t ever be sorry for crying, it’s actually refreshing to see people show emotions 😊 And family movies always tug at the heartstrings! Love your reactions!
Went to the comments to say this. But you worded it so well!
@@kaylameisner987 thank you! ☺️
I cried almost to every single Disney/Pixar animation coming out recently. Not sure if it's because they are all really that touching or just me being more and more vulnerable (through aging?) No worries, can totally relate.
Yeah, his reactions are nice to watch because they're genuine. It's nice to see someone actually get invested in a plot you know of
This! Crying is healthy and our culture f***s people up by teaching them it means people are weak or some bull$#!+ like that. But really, it's a sign of empathy, and that's one of the greatest strengths anyone can have if you ask me.
You know I've seen it pointed out before but when Judy goes home and runs into her old bully, the way he apologizes and the word choices he makes are the same phrases used in therapy. Just a little addition they added to show that Gideon got help for his behavior and has grown through therapy. Its something I enjoy that they didnt need to add but I am so glad they did.
I like this moment because I was bullied at school and I always dreamt of one day where my bullies will apologize to me
I love it too, cuz it shows he had a personal problem that he needed to deal with, not just “I was raised with a bad view of rabbits.” He literally just needed to join an anger management class.
@@azuroslazuli6948 (way too many people just need to go to anger management. It's sad that a cartoon fox ex-bully is a better example to kids than a lot of parents are)
Well that’s not what he did and I found it aLITTLE unnatural they way he told it
One of my favorite really small details that you’d have to pause to see is on the application it asks if you’ve ever been arrested and Nick checked ‘yes’ then scribbled it out and put ‘no’ 😂
lmaooo
Even the physical language is well done 🤌
"They're rams! They're all rams! They're ramming their way in!"
ngl, that got me good XD
It’s interesting that at 11:16 Nick tells Judy that she’s not going to make it and end up living in a box under a bridge, and then when she goes to apologize she finds Nick living under a bridge. It kind of shows how sometimes when someone is hurting and they see another succeed they will project their insecurities. I personally love Nicks characters and the growth threw out the movie, I feel he is a character many can relate to.
I actually was studying for my bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice when this movie came out. So when Judy schooled Nick several times as a cop, I loved every single one of the ways that she basically explained how the law worked at a basic level.
The scene where she makes Nick climb over the fence and actually gives her "probable cause" was actually a really nice and entertaining way to showcase how warrantless searches often work.
Shakira actually insisted on her character having distinct hips. The original design was a lot thinner.
What I've noticed about Judy's police training montage that no one really seems to point out is this: on her own, she fails at everything she does. But she's able to use other animals' uses to her advantage and comes out successful. It goes to show later on in the movie when she knows how to use other people's help to make observations and get where she needs to go.
Yes, she uses her brain not her physical strength
I just realized all of judy’s microaggressions thoughout the movie 😭 “real articulate fella”
Oof Ive heard that so much and people don't get why its offensive.
I remember there was an entire Cinema Therapy video on “Zootopia and Implicit Bias”, and it specifically mentioned “real articulate fella” at one point. It’s an excellent video.
I’m gonna include the link for it anyways, cuz it’s fantastic: ua-cam.com/video/PDFI3YGhIBg/v-deo.html
And the thing is that she is not even aware of doing it herself, until Nick calls her on it. At which point, to her credit, she recognizes that it’s wrong, takes responsibility for the consequences, and learns.
29:18
This movie is a metaphor for modern day conflicts, and race is a major one! When you break it down to its simplest form: a minority group (predators) are being typecasted because of their DNA, something they can’t change (just like one can’t change their race). Night howlers are a metaphor for drugs, and this movie showcased how drugs run rampant in minority neighborhoods via government control (drug rings often do play rolls in politics, it’s basically organized crime).
This childrens movie has VERY mature themes, covered up by cuddly cute animals. Disney was teaching a lesson for modern problems to the younger generation without being obvious about it.
Amen! The reason I love it so much, however, is there are two ways to interpret it. One is highlighted by Gideon: “Us predators used to eat prey!” Showing they used to be the oppressors. And now the pendulum has completely flipped - very true today. Especially with how the sheep lady decided to use this old hate and historic wrongs to motivate a revenge race war. Also true to today. And I would argue it better fits the movie’s entire paradigm. But that’s the beauty of it, isn’t it? Both are accurate, just like our day and age.
@@azuroslazuli6948 yeah I mean now outnumbered 9 to 1
This is far from the 1st that Disney has done this and lotta people don’t even see it as it is today
Something I always thought was VERY cool was when it released in 2016, it came out about the same time Trump rallies were picking up steam, so it was a perfectly timed commentary on racial tensions of that time. It couldn’t have come out at a better time
right !!
36:11 his face transition when nick actually made to bite judy was priceless 🤣
I know 🤣
Idris Elba as Chief Bobo using the words, "Let it go" is one of the best references/jokes they've ever used. XD
And of course, Duke Weaselton, who was (like Duke Wesselton) voiced by Alan Tudyk. A nice double whammy. 😊
I remember this movie being such a wholesome surprise. It’s very smart in talking with kids about racism and prejudice. And don’t be shame for crying, it’s very healthy and empathic.
It taught these lessons especially during a time when racism and prejudice was beginning to surge again. It came out in 2016, mere months before the elections. So while this film was in theaters, Orange Man rallies were cropping up everywhere, and increasing hate crimes at the same time. The release of this film could not have been better timed, and I’m grateful it released when it did.
Shakira actually demanded that they change the digital model for her character, Gazelle. It was originally quite skinny, and basically was little more than a furry stick figure. She forced them to change it to reflect a thicker, more shapely body type.
Nick and Judy are so great together. They formed a friendship at a natural pace that felt earned, and it would make a strong base for a relationship if handled properly. Though after nearly 6 years, I'm starting to lose hope for a good sequel.
Another movie I'd love to see you react to is Brave, if you haven't seen that yet. It's an older one but pretty enjoyable IMO.
Hell the old ones are still just as good as these ones 😅
If I had to wait 14 years for a sequel to the Incredibles, you can wait for a Zootopia 2
Some people made a Zootopia sequel on YT, but I haven't seen it yet.
@@TriXJester As long as Jason Bateman is still around and healthy. Wait too long and we'll have Nick sounding like he's 70 or have a different voice altogether, and that would ruin Nick for me. Plus I want a sequel in my lifetime too LOL.
@@cjjackson2423 would not even consider brave old one since its not that old if you talk old pixar movies then we have first toy story or bugs life but most of them are good besides the good dinosaur was very underwhelming
I know exactly how Nick feels. For some of us immigrants, no matter how good, peaceful and trustworthy you try to be, society will keep using you as a scapegoat and keep blaming you for crimes of your "ancestors" aka "people you have no real connection to". Being nice and polite just doesn't work against discrimination based on fearmongering against you. So you have to become assertive, blunt and be able to physically stand your ground. Make it clear that attacking you with fists or words will be met with equally effective counter attack. But you have to be very very careful to not become cruel, immoral and bitter in the process. That's the hard part. Learn from crimes "your people" committed but don't let anyone bully you to get the illusion of justice.
And no, this movie doesn't apply only to issue of racism but to any fear-based xenophobia. I'm white but race had nothing to do with what happened to ma and many others like me.
Anyone that doesn't have white skin is used as a scapegoat, so many can relate in that aspect. Innocent people get trashed everyday for it and I'm so fucking tired of it. I'm a mixed (African American, Native, Irish) woman and it's even more difficult since the average stereotypical white male thinks were loud, ghetto, and big. Its terrible.
@@sarahanimateswolves4767 Anyone* Period. Skin color doesn't matter. Hell, in some countries governments use LGBT to scare society like crazy (Russia, Poland) so this isn't even about appearances.
@@AmberyTear I was speaking of America since many immigrants live here, so I just assumed mb. I've been born and raised here so just wanted to point it out that even if you aren't an immigrant, you can be discriminated just as much. America is way more advanced in accepting LGBTQ, it's true. However it's still very white-biased to this day, and we are still seeing injustice based on color so I HEAVILY and respectfully disagree that color isn't a fuel to the fire.
@@sarahanimateswolves4767 Well, I'm talking about all humans as species who share the same fears, fallacies and struggles. I know it's hard for Americans to comprehend given the narrative you're used to. But in some parts of the world it doesn't matter whether you're black or white - systemic persecution and simple everyday discrimination happens to everyone based on much more nuanced reasons.
@@AmberyTear It's not hard for me to comprehend a basic concept like that? Again, I was speaking about specifically American people since we have tons of immigrants. Just keep in mind that color does matter, along with LGBTQ, along with sex, and more. I just feel with the experience I've had, it's fairly ignorant to not include it with every other problem that's being put on the table. And it's not only America having problems with color either, honestly.
Me: its just zootopia he's not going to cry
Him: cries*
Me: sympathy cries*
Me: WTF is wrong with us!
Obviously it hit you both in a place you didn’t expect it to. :p
Love them salty tears.
I feel this movie had an important lesson on prejudice that is not touched on enough. It can exist in even the best of us, and we need to accept the worst in us if we want to prevent it from subconsciously taking over our actions and to make the world better
Prejudice isnt necessarily bad tho
I think you might be talking about implicit bias. If anyone is interested in the topic, the channel Cinema Therapy has a video about Zootopia and implicit bias.
@@josephg.1.130 😐yes it is.
@@earthing3696 No it isnt, please tell me in what way thinking a black guy likes fried chicken harmful to anyone? How is thinking an asian person is smart is mean or negative? How is assuming a specific group of people like a sandwich spread bad or harmful to society?
@@Shaesi. the Cinema Therapy video for that is amazing!
Ah what the hell, here’s the link to it: ua-cam.com/video/PDFI3YGhIBg/v-deo.html
"Nicholas Wilde, you're under arrest"
"For what, huwting your feewings?"
"Felony tax evasion"
That's the moment I started shipping it, hard. They'd make for a great relationship imo.
28:39 -- depending on what country you're living in, the news broadcast will have different animals as the anchors.
The weasel's name -- Duke Weaselton -- was a joke on the Frozen character The Duke of Wesselton. Both were voiced by Alan Tudyk.
i think the prejudice they were portraying against nick was racism and against judy was sexism i feel this makes sense with the different struggles that they faces
What hits especially hard is the *timing* for when this movie was released.
It came to theaters mere months before the 2016 elections, so a lot of racial tension was beginning to climb again, especially around Trump rallies and whatnot. So as this was happening, we get this fantastic movie acting as a commentary on racism, prejudice, and implicit bias. *Its timing couldn’t have been better.*
Ginnifer Goodwin plays Judy, and her husband Josh Dallas plays the pig you see briefly, the one that sent Judy after the weasel that stole the onions. They met on the tv show Once Upon A Time, where they played Snow White and Prince Charming. which if you love Disney movies you might love that show, since it’s all fairytale characters put together and it’s chalk full of Disney references 😁
Such a great show...HIGHLY recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it!
Once upon a time will forever be one of my favorite shows, even though it's a bit silly and overdramatic.
@@kiraalldredge48 I don’t mind the dramatics at all 😆 Regina is my favorite character and she’s probably the most dramatic out of all of the characters 😂
ughhhh this show man I LOVE IT. Regina is my all time fave. i cried several times on that show i just love it
@@vixiestarfire I love Regina, though my favorite character will forever be Hook.
"They relate it to racism, right?"
Well, racism and sexism and really any kind of discrimination. The discrimination Nick Wilde faces for being a predator is akin to racism, and the discrimination Judy faces for being a bunny is akin to sexism. "You bunnies are so emotional." Or that being a bunny means you can't do certain jobs that larger animals usually do.
I cry EVERY time don't worry literarily have on t watched a movie where I have not shed at least one tear
Having been bullied a lot in school growing up the scene of Nick as a young kid getting attacked and muzzled got to me big time.
Same here, sorry you had to go through that 🤍
Anyone else think that transcended bullying and was an actual hate crime?
Alan Tudyk voices the weasel, and also King Candy/Turbo in Wreck-it-Ralph. You’ll find him voicing a lot of movie characters, as well as acting in live action films and tv.
At this point, I think he’s become Disney’s lucky charm just like John Ratzenberger for Pixar
He's a fantastic voice actor. From Frozen to Harley Quinn.
27:34 LMAO his face bro 😂😂
I remember watching Zootopia without even thinking it was going to be such a big production. I know, when is Disney even NOT big, but I just wasn't expecting this one to have such a big message. The message in this movie hits me so hard. I needed everyone watching it after I saw it lol.
They clarify with outside sources that only Mammals have 'evolved' and domestic animals are not included due to lack of human intervention. So predator animals eat things like fish and bugs and birds though they don't really show any of it. Likely so they can change their minds in a sequel on reptiles or something, and also because it'd just be awkward to have some dude eating KFC in the background lol
What's funny though are the pigs and sheep being shown though. At least the pigs more so as the stereotypical pink pig are domesticated versions from whatever the older wilder ones were like i'd assume. No cows, bulls or even horses from what i could see either, super interesting stuff.
What I loved the most about this movie was the way they showed how everyone had some kind of assumption about everyone else. The bunnies were "too small to be an authority figure", foxes were "always sneaky", sheep were "harmless", even elephants "had the mind of a steel trap". Good or bad, making an assumption about someone before you get to know them is just dumb, and they communicated that message extremely well by having animals of all species stereotyping each other in some way.
The reason I like watching your reactions is cause you aren't scared to show your emotions and that's refreshing to see especially with male reactors.
There’s actually a fan made sequel to this on UA-cam called Return to Zootopia and it’s pretty good for a fan film. It’s mostly slide show drawings but with voice acting and sound effects. I like it a lot 😁 the plot is DRAMATIC and if you ship Nick and Judy together you should definitely check it out lol
Yes! Even if u don’t record it you should check it out!
I was about to mention that I remember watching something like that. I remember it was made by someone pretty young too. And that there's so much potential.

Do any of y’all have a link to it?
This was the first movie I took my oldest daughter to see in theater 🥰
And you are definitely not alone. I can’t think of a Disney/Pixar movie that didn’t make me cry.
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimeron
Prince of Egypt
Knives Out
The Incredible Journey
OMG SPIRIT!
Spirit all the way!
The Incredible Journey is one of my favorite movies of all time. For the longest time Wild Hearts can’t be broken was right there beside it.
I LOVE that you cry during your reactions. I'm with you, man! I cry at the same scenes you do. Don't hold back! Makes your videos feel authentic.
Watching you being so genuine and don't afraid of crying is amazing and refreshing.

Great reaction! 🤗😃
Thank you so much!!
I did an essay on zootopia and the hidden meaning behind it. A lot of people don’t realize it’s about segregation and racism. “Prey vs predator” even the cheetah called Judy “cute” which then she said along the lines of “only other bunny’s are allowed to call bunny’s cute but not other animals” there’s more to it but you can look it up
I would like to read it all
@@hassanalkhalaf1115 seriously? I can try and send the link

You should watch Bolt! It's an older movie that I believe is an underrated gem.
I will still be hopeful that this movie will get a tv show one day. The idea of a buddy cop show where they solve a new crime every episode seems sooooo good I want it so bad
So i’m gonna go ahead and admit this now. I have never been able to cry at movies that really tug your heartstrings. When I see someone who does, I am always jealous. Don’t be ashamed of it man, it is absolutely not a bad thing or a “weak” trait. That’s just ridiculous. Children cry for attention.. but Adults cry for release. Just like shouting when angry, urinating when full bladder, yawning when tired, jumping when startled, fight / flight when scared, laughing when entertained, um.. Let’s say reaching the Climax during “maritals”, heat when angry.. etc.
We have physical & emotional relief/release responses for a reason. Being able to emotionally release saves you from much worse things down the line. For whatever reason, men in particular have been taught forever that crying or any emotion really is a form of weakness. I think everybody realizes these days how folly that was.
Can't remember if I mentioned it before or not, but I'm pretty sure Nick's character design was heavily influenced by Disney's own Robin Hood from 1973. I hope they make more movies in this anthropomorphic style before another 4 decades pass.
yes and there is fan speculation linking Nick with Robin Hood too.
Really well made and good movie, this is one of my fave newer Disney cg animated flicks.
What I love about JV's reaction is that he's not shy to show his real emotions, a lot of other reactors tend to fight their emotions especially in tear jerking moments.. which makes their reactions uninteresting to watch..
Best part of this movie is how re-watchable it is.
I know there are some people who theorize that Flash is speeding because he's simply too slow to take his foot off the pedal. It's fun to think about :)
Oh, the ultimate modern furry movie. I remember when this first came out in theaters. Went to see it way more than I probably should have. But a large part of that was just how good the movie was, from the music to the story to the way they handled real-world issues. Definitely still one of my favorite animated movies, especially when it comes to animals.
Agreed
For me, it holds a special place in my heart as it was the first film I saw after recovering from developing Ulcerative Colitis. Before the film came out, I lost a lot of weight and blood and was in the hospital a few times in early 2016.
I recovered in early March, and saw the film a couple weeks after it came out, but I was surprised that my auditorium was still busy.
I’m fine now though I no longer have a colon
some say the movie was pre shown to the furry community *smile*
@@blackbearish well, as a furry myself, I cannot say for certain whether or not that's true. I went to see it in theaters when it released, so I saw it the same time as everyone else in the general public. But the furry community does have its ways of getting their hands on stuff, so I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they did get an early showing.
This movie was released when we were going through a lot of the police brutality incidents here in the USA specifically directed at the black community and dare I say the latino community. It gave us a good reminder of what can happen when stereotypes continue to destroy the relationships between communities. This movie unfortunately is still relevant today...
Arguably even more so 6 years later .
Can’t believe it’s been that long already, time moves too fast
Well, as long as you can realize it’s relevant to everyone. The “predators” used to be the offenders, after all. And now they’re the hunted. That’s also true today.
I am so glad you watched this one and love your authentic honest reactions.
Definitely watching more of your videos regularly👍🏽
Only real men cry and admit it ,even when watching kid movies , you, reth me , etc.
Something really neat about this movie is that when it was released in theaters, depending on where you lived the news anchors were different animals. Not sure if that is still the case with using disney+ though, but I would assume.
I loved this! I would be so interested in seeing you react to The Emporer's New Groove -- such a hilarious movie!!!
Disney's greatest cartoon couple
CHANGE MY MIND
Some recommendations from me would be: Guardians of Ga'hoole (movie animation is stunningly great for the time it was made), 9 (creepy movie, animated but not really for kids) and the Spiderwick Cronicles (an old favorite of mine, live-action)
I completely forgot that those first two movies existed. I would definitely love to see him react to them.
There is a movie reference in the name "Weaselton". He calls himself "Duke Weaselton" and he is voiced by Alan Tudyk. Alan Tudyk also voiced the character "Duke of Weselton" in Frozen. Get it? Duke Weaselton = Duke of Weselton? Only relevant for Alan Tudyk fans. By the way, have you reacted to "Your Name" (Kimi no Na wa) yet? I would love to see that!
I too cry at Disney animated movies. They be deep and tug at the heart!
38:05 They just straight-up 'shipped 'em before the fanbase could. Smooth!

I love your channel, you sound just like my uncle when you react to things that you think are cool, and weirdly, it makes me so endeared to your content.
I wonder why it's zootopia in the US but Zootropolis here in the UK. I feel like both audiences would have seen it with either name 🤷♀️
I remember someone saying that one of the titles for this movie was the name of a Zoo (or more) - they probably had to change it because of that.
They probably changed it in Europe because there's a zoo in Denmark called 'Givskud Zoo Zootopia', so maybe they couldn't trademark the name 'Zootopia'.
Ah, the DMV Scene. Probably the introduction to Zootopia for SO many people, as it was played as a promotional clip. And I still remember EVERYONE in the audience just HOWLING with laughter. 😊
Yes, the sight of Mister Big is definitely a jolt, but if you think about it, his reputation for being dangerous is even more justified. He’s a shrew, one of the nastiest mammals alive when angered.
26:07 - "Go...down the...toilet!" 🤣 I'm sorry, the way u said that was just too funny!
The UA-cam channel Cinema Therapy has an episode on 'Zootopia' where they (a therapist and a filmmaker) watch the movie and talk about how well it explores the topics of racism and implicit bias. I love watching people deep-dive into this stuff, and I appreciate that you took time to discuss your take on the movie at the end. 🙂 (It also makes me think you might like Cinema Therapy's videos in general.)
My FAVORITE animated movie💯🐇🦊🌟🦁
Hey! Just discovered your channel. First of all, as everyone said, don't worry. Crying is actually very good for you, it helps to regulate many enzymes in your system and reduces overall stress on your body. Be it happy tears or sad tears, let it alll out, your body and mental health will thank you. It is also very refreshing to see anyone being open about their emotions and letting their bodies express themselves in ways words sometimes can't. That's your very own language and it is fun to learn it from observation, so you do you my friend.
Secondly, thanks for giving so many animations a chance. I'm a big fan of animated movies and series in general since forever (I love studying animation techniques and writing plot ideas in my spare time), and it saddens me that a lot of people ignore them for "looking childish"... I can't understand the logic. I mean, we'te told to not judge things/people by how they look, and consider actual substance over appearances, but we still do it, you know? It makes me feel a little sad... So channels with people open to discovery like you bring a smile to my face. Thank for taking from your precious time to watch these, and for sharing with us.
I see you were blessed by many good recommendations so far, wonderful! I'll be sure to check them out later. If I may add some additional titles for your consideration... A few aren't Disney too, which might be an intesting experience for you? But they are all **incredible**, both in artwork and in plot (imo) :
Wolfwalkers (2020) -- Klaus (2019) -- Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) -- Meet the Robinsons (2007) -- Lilo & Stitch (2002) -- Spirited Away (2001) -- The Road to El Dorado (2000) -- Mulan (1998) -- Hercules (1997)
All the best for you and your channel! I'll be watching! 😄
You. I like you. Subbed. Good voice. Insightful/emotional commentary. Highly professional. Love it. Keep up the good work.
love how monster's inc climax made this whole villain's word against theirs a thing. it's great
At the moment, this is the only thing involving Zootopia outside of some old games/apps that no longer run. There does appear to be a Zootopia series in the works for Disney+, though, so it may not be long until we get to see them again.
At 13:40 idk why JV answering ‘what?’ as if he were Judy’s so funny to me😆😂😂😂
Zootopia is one of my favorites
Honestly when miss otterton came in and asked them to find her husband the chief was right in his approach not in trying to fire Judy but not giving false hope in the chance they couldn’t find him
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
This film will always have a special place as it was the first film I saw in the theatre after recovering from developing Ulcerative Colitis in early 2016
I’m fine now though I had to have my colon removed because it got so bad
Good reaction as well! I appreciated it
I love how the Junior Rangers made fun of Nick for being a vicious predator when a hippo is in that group and is probably the most dangerous animal of them. Killing thousands of people each year and even attacking animals who get caught in the mud just cause they can.
I like to think of Nick and Judy as a purely platonic relationship honestly. This movie always brings a smile to my face glad you enjoyed dude
This is my favorite Disney movie. I rewatched it earlier last year and I was really starting to want a sequel. This movie deserves a sequel because Disney can do many things with this. I don't think a series with a few new characters and already seen background/side characters (Mr.big's daughter and Flash) isn't going to cut it complesely for me. I'll temporarily satify me until then stop making reboots and remakes and actually make a good proper sequel that isn's some cash grab.
You are the only person I have ever seen watch this and get the Walter and Jesse joke. Freaking brilliant of Disney to drop that in there like that. This movie is deep. And it does not shy away from some difficult stuff. One of Disney's best.
so glad to see such genuine reactions, especially emotional ones! I just found your channel and am currently browsing what you have. Do you plan on posting any edited versions of UP and other currently patreon-exclusive content? if not I totally understand, but I'd really look forward to seeing pieces or snippets since I can't patron at the moment,.
Thanks for these reactions! They're a lot of fun. Looking forward to watching your current uploads.
Edit: I found Up!! Definitely going to watch it and root around your channel for more gems.
Great reaction!
You see how big the Jumbo Pops are? They're HUGE!!! The right sie for an elephant. It's no wonder it costs 15 bucks.
Red boarder had me thinking I had watched half of this already.
